The Mind Of OverlordTomala

I Basically Have A New Desktop Now

I’ve been busy getting my system put back together. Finally have the 3900x installed onto the new motherboard (ASRock x570 Taichi). Now I’m rocking two NVMe drives, two SSD’s and six 7200rpm server grade mechanical drives. I still have some things to refine under Windows 10, but I’m pretty much all setup under Linux (Manjaro this time).

Should have everything back up to 100% by tomorrow!

Konami Is Building Gaming PC’s?

I shit you not:

In a nutshell: Konami, the one-time video gaming giant behind the likes of Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid, has entered the PC manufacturing business. Konami Amusements, a subsidiary of Konami Holdings Corporation, is now accepting orders for the first three Arespear gaming PCs.

I guess my only remaining question would be if they come with a free pachinko game?

Late Evening Open Thread

I did something I haven’t done in a long time… I took a nap. I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night due to loud and obnoxious neighbors being even more loud and obnoxious than usual. There’s this couple somewhere in the neighborhood that fights almost every fucking night, and last night the guy kept yelling “I’M TRYING TO SLEEP!!!” I almost felt like joining in, but other people sleeping in the house made me hold back. Then when they finally fucked and went to sleep or whatever one of the many dogs that get left out all night started barking. I came home, had a small Japanese breakfast and napped a little longer than I wanted to.

On the bright side U have four working hard drives inside of my laptop! I transferred games to it while I was sleeping, so at least I accomplished a couple things on my list. I currently have 3 512 NVMe drives and one 1TB SSD in the SATA slot. I was talking to my co-worker about my new laptop configuration and now he wants to look into getting a gaming laptop when he can afford it, especially now knowing you can pack some decent lightning fast internal storage in them these days. I’m going to be retiring my OS SSD for an NVMe drive in my desktop, and I’m thinking of re purposing it for games like Skyrim to increase load time. If I’m doing it on my laptop I should be able to do it on my desktop. Gotta go fast!

Something Something Zombies

You brought me all the way here to show me a chair?

I did a little co-op RE6 with Yutram this evening. I was surprised at how easy it was for connect together to have a proper game. We made it through the first chapter together, and played a bit of No Mercy mode, almost made it to the end but the both of us got gang raped by a bunch of zombies..I advanced further in single player while he was away too. I watched Ada be reborn on a video tape… or something. O_o

I forgot my fucking eyeliner…

Strange how the graphics look about on par with the Left 4 Dead series, and yet they managed to find the time to get mirrors working. I guess this is what happens when game developers don’t have a sub sandwich budget.

I Didn’t Want To Sleep Tonight Anyway…

I played a bit with some wiki stuff today, but found I’ll have to do a PHP upgrade. Not too big of a deal, but I figured I would call it a day. I’ve still been a little under the weather otherwise, keeping my mind off things by playing more RE6 and slaying the fleshlight monster. The weather has been fogging us in for most of the day/night, so it felt nice to end the evening with something to match the foggy, zombie infested atmosphere.

Saturday Evening Open Thread

I haven’t been feeling well these last couple days, and work has been wearing me out  (as is tradition) around work work, and home. Now that I’m on my weekend I might be able to do some catching up.I relaxed and played a little RE6 with some vape and wine, finally made it past the first chapter as Leon. I’ve gotten back into playing it after installing a copy on my laptop I’ve managed to get back into it on my desktop as well.

I’m currently at a stand still on my video project. I’m a little short on time for the final Skyrim video (for that particular saga anyway), and I wanted to do a short recap/intro for the fun of it. This of course involves animating it, and before that I need voice lines which I’ll hopefully obtain sometime next week. In the meantime I have plenty of other things to focus on. Maybe if I’m feeling up to it I’ll finally build the wiki I’ve been thinking nonstop about. I also need to install those extra hard drives into my laptop still, and upgrade my Linux distros. I haven’t decided if I want to stick with Mint and upgrade to a newer version (currently running 18.3) or if I want to experiment with another distro like Solus.

The sadistic side of me wants to install CentOS 8 just to see how far I would get with Proton… though that would probably be a lot more painless compared to Slackware.

Took A Game Break

Another game I acquired during the summer sale was Vampyr. A few of my Steam buddies have the game, and pretty much everyone told me it was a fun one to check out, even some of my co-workers have said the same, so it only made sense for me to get it and give it a try. I’m not far into the game, as I’ve only just found the pub, asked all kinds of questions, and became a level 4 vampire. Sadly that’s a mystery that will have to stop for the evening… 5am comes waaaaaay too early.

Adding AMID EVIL To My Finished Game Roster

AMID EVIL goes on the list of games that I either pre-ordered or supported early on before an official final release, and I’m happy to say I finished it with flying colors, as in colorful weapons killing monsters left and right.

We’ve seen Doom inspire many shooters over these last couple decades (and even re-imagine itself), but when it came to successors to games like Hexen or Heretic that seemed to be a niche no one ever really thought to fill. I’m not sure why other than maybe the lack of guns… but who needs guns when you have a trident that strikes lightning upon your enemies? Or an ice wand that shoves icy dildos into your opponents torso? How about a really fabulous weapons that looks like purple ribbons, but is actually one of the most chaotic weapons in the entire fucking game?

On top of the amazing weapon selection there is also the level design. Some levels had you jump from floating giant droplets of water, to floors appearing under your feet as you walk. There are also tons of secrets throughout these worlds, meaning it gives me some replay value. This is one of those games I’ve played quite a bit between home and work, it feels just right on the Steam Controller.

This game was a delight from start to finish. I would love to see workshop support, and maybe even a sequel. 24/10 will probably play over and over again.

Gorgonzola Cheese And The World’s Finest Wine

I spent the first part of my weekend enjoying a good breakfast, taking care of some stuff around the house, and patching up a shirt that was starting to show some wear and tear. Been spending the evening drinking wine and enjoying some gorgonzola cheese and some white wine. I finished AMID EVIL last night, and played a bit of Pac-Man and Rochard… not sure why I’ve been on such an indie kick these last couple of weekends.
