I actually had a dream last night that was worth remembering, and I was actually going to write about it tonight… but then the thought of AI gathering my thoughts so that the terminally lazy can write stories by doing queries in place of their own keystrokes.
It was only a few years ago I could look at an image online and appreciate the artists line work, or painting, or a photographer’s perfect scene framing and use of lens filters. Now whenever I look at an image online I have to question it. Sometimes I can’t help but laugh at some of the creations people have come up with using AI, sometimes I do see genuine ideas that put a smile on my face.
I’m not completely anti-AI, it can be used as a tool in the right hands. But I also see too many people who think that by using words and descriptions to generate their visions, that they are suddenly artists now. There is also no I in our current iteration of AI. It’s just a large database that has scraped the corners of the internet in order to deliver desired queries to a user.
One of these days it could possibly change, but for now it is what it is. A resource burner that companies want to use to eliminate employees and actual artists.
