I’m really getting sick and tired of the Duck Dynasty thing. Lots of people in town (including co-workers) were extremely pissed off about Phil Robertson being thrown off the air, and have been rejoicing his triumphant return ever since but are still pissed off at how they would even think of oppressing a fellow Christian for his beliefs. One of my co-workers decided to ask my opinion on the situation which would prove later to be a mistake. I kept it light, basically telling him that they’re fakes. I explained to him the picture I found of them 11 years ago before the beards, and how it was obvious that they grew them out for TV. He defended that by saying “People do different things for TV” and I said “Yes, but it’s supposed to be a ‘reality’ show”, and then he tried to tell me that it was wrong for them to take him off the air because of “one thing”. Why are these people only focusing on the gay comment and not this comment:

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

I imagine that if I brought up this bit about marrying girls as young as 15 or 16 it would also fall on deaf ears. Yes, Phil Robertson mentioned this back in 2009 at a Christian retreat.

“They got to where they’re getting hard to find, mainly because these boys are waiting ’til they get to be about 20 years old before they marry ’em,” Robertson says in a video clip that resurfaced Monday. “Look, you wait ’til they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They’ll pick your ducks.”

Yeah, you wanna marry them while they don’t know the world from outside your toolshed. It doesn’t end there either:

“Make sure that she can cook a meal. You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out. Make sure she carries her Bible. That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road,” he said.

It’s funny reading this then having to listen to people complain about how his religious beliefs got him thrown off of A&E. Yes, everyone knows that Christians in America are the most oppressed. All 70% of them… 🙄

A couple days ago I blogged about [H]ardForum’s outlook on women and the manly men that are proud to beat their chests (among other things) making it their stance clear. Women play Angry Birds and nothing else. Because you know… Bitches are all crazy about that shit. 🙄

Well, someone must have been really bored. That and they probably have more balls than the troglodytes themselves.

I am a female “gamer”. I will say that online…males are generally assholes when they find out another player is female, either they are asking you how fat and ugly you are or they are asking you for noodz.

This should be interesting. I wonder how many girls will step forth and have fun in this virtual sausagefest. 😀

Despite getting up early today I still had a good work day. That was until I looked at the schedule two weeks ahead and saw that they want to train me to do yet another thing. To work a cash register. This is where I draw the line.

For the last couple years we have been getting deliberately understaffed in almost every single department. Instead of keeping or hiring more cashiers they have been grabbing people from all over the store to come down and check for them. Which makes it real fun trying to get ANY work done whatsoever. Now they’re making it mandatory for every single person in the entire store. What’s funny is that a friend of ours that moved to another store in Oregon told us that they don’t follow the same rules. This is all taking place at the local level. Doesn’t seem so mandatory after all, does it?

So now I’ve once again been thrust into something that I don’t want to do, and I only know because I read the schedule. As usual my employers are failures at communicating information like this to me or anyone else. You would think after working there for almost five years I would get a little more respect than that. But then again they have made it clear that the only way I’ll be getting a raise of any kind would be if state minimum wages go up… It’s time to move on. As it is I’ve been looking at the new store opening up, plus jobs are opening up elsewhere in town. I think I can do far better elsewhere.

They have trained me to order and work bread without even consulting me, they have trained me to work bakery without consulting me, they have trained me to work the nutrition center (that one they did give me a heads up about though, and I really didn’t mind), and other odd things. I would rather push fucking carts and clean toilets than use a cash register. I’m sorry… It’s not that I don’t trust myself around money, it’s that I trust no one else. Not to mention that lately it seems like I haven’t been able to get any work done between being called away from what I’m doing constantly and not getting any coverage from other people because they’re either off doing what I’m doing or out filling in for a cashier. It’s pretty bad when one of our guys spends 5 hours of his 9 hour shift cashiering and not doing his job with the rest of us. If I get trained to cashier I already know even less work will get done. You can stretch a rubberband only so far until it snaps, which I’m about to.

And again, they don’t pay me enough to give a damn. Real cashiers get paid more than me, and they want me to get trained so they can call me out there at any given moment for minimum wage? Fuck that noise… If this is the new standard then I’ll put in my two weeks notice and go elsewhere. I’m fine on money right now, I’ve tucked enough away to keep myself safe while job hunting.

I have a good rep and a great track record. I’ll have no problem finding a new job. Plus I’ve stated before that if prompted to cashier train I would give my notice. They told me they thought I was bluffing, it’s time to prove them wrong.

I have no words for how painful this is to watch. It was difficult for me to not grit my teeth while watching this and feeling my brain cells reach for the closest noose so that they may hang themselves to get away from the pain and sorrow this video has caused. Burned into my retinas… I think I’m going to have nightmares.

Found out tonight I’m one of the people lucky enough to work with a zen conspiracy theorist. While talking about chi and how everything in life has energy and spirit (rocks, trees, people etc) he also told me about a conspiracy called chemtrails. Surprisingly I never heard of this and he told me to look it up.

After reading this and finding youtube videos regarding the subject I collapsed into a state of lulz. Seriously! Out of all the conspiracy theories that I have ever heard this has to be right up there with crazy sprinkler lady. If you don’t know what that is look it up on YouTube. I guarantee you’ll have a laugh.

There are more important things in this world to be afraid of. Chemtrails have to be at the lowest on my list of things to worry about. If you want to talk about something really scary lets talk about the holy 1% and the economy. Or how High Fructose Corn Syrup and other additives are pumped into almost every single edible substance.

Failures to communicate

It seems tomorrow I will be working someone else’s job for the first time and they didn’t even have the common decency to tell me (yet again).  On the bright side it’s a full day, but I wish they could take the time to fucking tell me that they need me, or hell… even ask me if I’m available! If I didn’t look at the schedule before leaving today I wouldn’t have known about the change and I would have gotten in trouble due to their lack of communication skills…

You know, I’m able to be put on my mothers insurance this year without any extra cost to her. I think it might be time to go find another job because I’m finding this shit harder and harder to tolerate. Now the problem is actually finding something else to do in town. If an office job opens up I’d love to jump in on that.

Papa Smurf and I have come to the conclusion that Fedora 15 sucks major bollox. So the forum will be down for  awhile longer until we go back to Fedora 14 and reinstall the proper packages so that the forum will actually function.

Meanwhile regarding the srcds error for L4D2, I’ve asked around and haven’t gotten any help or suggestions (other than from a friend on steam). But it didn’t really help my case unfortunately. I hate doing this but it looks like I may have to upgrade to a newer server. I already have one in mind, hopefully moving to one that supports SSE3 instruction sets would fix the problem. I still don’t want to do this though because as it is the server is more than capable (in fact I’d go as far to say that it’s overkill). It’s an HP Rackmount server. Seems ridiculous to stop supporting it. It’s also ridiculous that there aren’t more people who are in the same boat as me.

As an aside and a brighter note, PS and I sat down for a L4D1 match tonight. There will be a review in the future. I also have a L4D2 one planned. But I won’t go about saying how either of these reviews will be planned.

Internet providers would be forced to keep logs of their customers’ activities for one year—in case police want to review them in the future—under legislation that a U.S. House of Representatives committee approved today.

The 19 to 10 vote represents a victory for conservative Republicans, who made data retention their first major technology initiative after last fall’s elections, and the Justice Department officials who have quietly lobbied for the sweeping new requirements, a development first reported by CNET.

A last-minute rewrite of the bill expands the information that commercial Internet providers are required to store to include customers’ names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and temporarily-assigned IP addresses, some committee members suggested. By a 7-16 vote, the panel rejected an amendment that would have clarified that only IP addresses must be stored.

It represents “a data bank of every digital act by every American” that would “let us find out where every single American visited Web sites,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, who led Democratic opposition to the bill.

Lofgren said the data retention requirements are easily avoided because they only apply to “commercial” providers. Criminals would simply go to libraries or Starbucks coffeehouses and use the Web anonymously, she said, while law-abiding Americans would have their activities recorded.

To make it politically difficult to oppose, proponents of the data retention requirements dubbed the bill the Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011, even though the mandatory logs would be accessible to police investigating any crime and perhaps attorneys litigating civil disputes in divorce, insurance fraud, and other cases as well.

“The bill is mislabeled,” said Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the senior Democrat on the panel. “This is not protecting children from Internet pornography. It’s creating a database for everybody in this country for a lot of other purposes.”

So by my ISP storing info on what sites I go to, what my bank account info is, how many pairs of underwear I’ve purchased off ebay, and whatever else they want to keep tabs on is going to keep children safe from people taping their sexcapades? Are we really going to be that fucking stupid to pass such a dumb assed bill? This is data mining, the kind of shit companies like google and spacebook thrive over.

It’s amazing what you can get people to do for you by simply shouting things like “child rape” or “9/11” over and over again. And the sad part here is that there are actual people out there that will think honest to the invisible man in the sky that this law will protect children from pr0n. Give me a fucking break.
