Back in May I read an article about Windows vs Linux on gaming handhelds, and how Linux runs circles around Windows in terms of battery life and performance. Proving once again that Windows is and will probably always will be an overly bloated mess compared to Linux. Something I never get tired of seeing!
Proton has been a game changer in the Linux gaming space. When I originally started experimenting with gaming under Linux during the early days it was hard to compare natively made Linux games to the enormous catalog that Windows offers. Even some of the Linux ports that I’ve played had minor issues or bugs that would make the Windows versions seem less irritating by comparison. But with Valve backing their own version of Proton, it completely changed the Linux gaming landscape!
Now if more dedicated sound cards could get proper support under Linux it would truly be the year of Linux! 😛
