The Mind Of OverlordTomala

Forced Relaxation

My back has been continuing to give me hell – this time in my lumbar area. I tweaked it a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been slowly trying to take care of it… but between work making that difficult, and sitting on a hard wooden bench for fucking jury duty I basically spent today mostly in bed, only getting out to eat or do a couple of chores. There was so much I wanted to do now that I’m back on a more normal schedule. Instead I laid in bed with plenty of heat, massage, and online chair shopping.

Last year when my back was giving me issues I found out the problem mainly resided in my old furniture — mainly the office chair and mattress. Well, the mattress has held up one year later, but my gaming chair has lost it’s padding. I’ve already got a couple of candidates I’m looking at. With the amount of time I spend at my computer doing animation, server work, website maintenance, and gaming (of course) I need a chair that can take a beating, and not make me feel like I’ve been thrown through a couple of mountains.

Vampires and Weed Candles

I have one more night shift this eve, and then an entire weekend to kick my vampirism… huzzah! I don’t mind the hours, and working quietly in the middle of the night is nice, but the job itself is a bit disorienting. The person I worked with is an absolute peach though, she was very nice to work with! Turns out she’s a bit of a gamer herself! Though she resides in the realm of XBox. I recommended The Stanley Parable to her, and another girl that was working near us that day. It made for some good office vibes.

Got my melon shopping bags ready for an after work excursion. Some big sales tomorrow on a few things I’ve been waiting to get, nothing too fancy. There were some CBD candles I was looking at, and I already demolished the one I received over my birthday (it was a nice additional sleep aid for this vampire, my best bud knows me well). I don’t have much else planned for my weekend. It’s Mother’s Day, and I’m not sure what my Mom wants to do. She’s been taking a bit of vacation away from work (desperately needed) and she’s been pretty much in a veg and knit/crochet mood. She’s made me quite a few things (some of which I’d like to blog about when I find some time to snap decent pictures) between my birthday and now.

Apart from Mother’s Day I’m not sure what else I’ll be doing. I might finally clean out my closet if my back will allow me. I’ll probably play something in my ever expanding library of games, also too.

Oh Look! It’s Another Open Thread…

Once again my sleep schedule is taking a bit of a beating. I woke up tonight and found out that I have jury duty in the morning; had to call in to work to let them know I wouldn’t be coming in tonight. I shouldn’t really complain much, with this being my first time summoned. I just hope I don’t get chosen to stay. Other than that I’ve been doing my usual routine; Tidied up the kitchen, took a shower, hailed the glow cloud. Now I’m brewing some tea and putting some candles on to get in the mood for a small nap in a bit.

I’ve already laid out my clothes for convenience, as is Overlord tradition. That said; I’ve been meaning to do a spring cleaning of my closet, but haven’t the chance. I think I’m off to a small start though… threw an old shirt away, donated another to the rag pile, and tonight I tried on a shirt I got a couple years ago as a gift, only to find it’s about one size too small. Fortunately I know someone at work to give it to! I’m sure they’ll appreciate it. I’ve been giving things to co-workers as I slowly go through things. A month or so ago I went through some of my hair things and jewelry and donated a small modest bag to a couple of ladies who recently found themselves. 🙂 It doesn’t do me any good to hold onto something I’m not using or unable to use, so it’s always nice to find a good home for these items. I might go through more of my clothed inventory this weekend, it would give me an excuse to upgrade my wardrobe.

At least I know the next time I go to work I’ll maybe be able to brighten someone’s day. 🙂

Don’t Get Scammed By Scammers

I recently found out that a friend of mine fell victim to one of the many Amazon scams going around. They managed to convince to pay a fee (via gift cards of course) for an item that she didn’t put in her cart… and the worst part was that she knew something was up, but didn’t know how to get rid of them. I was pissed when I found out, that something like this can happen so easily.

I’m sure anyone reading this already knows not to talk to these people, but… don’t talk to them, unless you’re wanting to troll their asses. Instead I recommend watching and sharing scambaiting videos, especially to older people and the technologically impaired who tend to be their easiest targets. They can be educational, and even entertaining:

If I had more time in my busy work schedule I’d love to make some special VM’s for them to fuck around in, or just play dumb as fuck over the phone. I used to troll sales people over the phone when I was a kid, and it would be kinda fun to unleash some creative energy on these bottom feeders.

It Feels Like The First Time (Contains Spoilers)

Note: If you don’t want to be spoiled you might want to skip this post.

Like I briefly mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been spending my weekend poking and proding at the brand new Stanley Parable! It’s a re-re-release of the original Half Life 2 mod that became a game that became a game again, but with more metalicious content!

When you first go to launch the game, it will ask you to set the time; and eventually ask you to adjust random sliders like the one above. The first few times you launch the program it will try to find some way to dick with you, making it clear they put some serious effort into successfully trolling and taking money from their audience.

From what I’ve read; the overall content is about 4 hours in length. I haven’t been through it all yet myself, but what I’ve seen so far has made me laugh maniacally into the dark hours of the night like a totally normally adjusted person. The writing is as sharp as it was in the original, and what I’ve seen so far has fit right into the game as if it were always meant to be there!

If you looked in your game settings under where the controls are kept, you may have noticed a jump button (a game mechanic Stanley simply doesn’t possess, there’s even an achievement for not jumping in this and the original). This immediately caught my eye when I saw it, and a little into the game I arrive at this point and it made sense.

Welp… that’s all folks! OR at least in fine Stanley Parable tradition that’s what the game would WANT you to believe.

The narrator wasn’t entirely impressed with the first bit of content, and opted to take me to a realm that housed numerous accolades and awards that the original Steam release received… and then we found the Steam Reviews section:

After the narrator visits these reviews further he tries to “fix the game”. I’ll spare the details as to how, this isn’t a full show and tell. 😛 Get the game!

After another restart I ended up seeing what would appear to be a “Stanley Parable 2” room, which gave me flashbacks to the original demo for The Stanley Parable. Featuring revolutionaty content such as the “Reassurance Bucket” and “The Infinite Hole”.

It also contains an easy to get achievement that I haven’t been able to get, and collectables that are completely pointless.

This is literally anything I could ask for in a game. 😛

As I’ve said before: If you own the original Stanley Parable, there is no excuse not to get this. If you have a sense of humour, and enjoy a good mind fuck, I also recommend it. I’ve been telling my console friends at work to check it out too. It’s a fun time waster, even the second or third time around. 😛

I’m taking a break from it for now, this is one that needs to be savored.

The Return Of Me

Greetings! I’m not dead yet! At least at the time of posting this.

I survived my first work week, just have one more week of vampiring at work, and things will be back to normal… well, as far as normal for me is concerned. In the meantime I think I finally got myself to start functioning properly again… shifting my sleep cycle caused me a bit of jet lag. I also wasn’t getting enough hydration, or eating enough. I just didn’t have an appetite, it was like my stomach was in another timezone still. My head was so clouded that I couldn’t even really work on my current animation project for the first half of the week; fortunately I spent the last couple of days crafting more glorious nightmare fuel. Sadly that will have to wait for another post. A lot has happened over the last few days that I would looooove to write about, and all of this shit can get its own post.

Back pain has also been another distraction… my lower back has been giving me shit since Tuesday. It isn’t as terrible now, but I’ve been having to apply a lot of heat and massage to be somewhat functional. I think I need to invest in a better chair, the padding on this one has already gone flat unfortunately, and I guess that means I have to invest in my ass a little more… literally.

Anyway’s, onto my weekend shenanigans: The Stanley Parable Redux kept me laughing deep into the night. More of that for a later blog post, but I can already say if you liked the original game you haaaaaaave to buy it! I’m not even through all of the new content yet, but what I’ve played so far made me laugh deep into the night. But now that night has turned to bright, and for me to take a rest for now. I’ll need all the energy I can get to beat my latest blog streak… made it over 55 or 56 days and got my ass handed to me by graveyard jet lag… Oh well, always nice to have a goal I guess.

Late Night Open Thread

I don’t have much to write. I’m all flipped around to do night shifts for the next couple of weeks, but my body still feels like it’s on pins and needles. I know it’s stress, and I keep trying different things to alleviate it, but it never completely goes away whenever I do this… which is strange because I prefer late nights. I spent most of the day in bed, yet I don’t think I got proper rest. I’ve tried lying back down, but my body keeps going “fuck it!”.

I just want the morning to come so I can sleep properly… -_-

***Update***

I’m thinking it might be wise of me to take a small hiatus from writing until I can get a grip on things… even my other hobbies are proving difficult to trudge through.
