My mood lighting arrived today, and it’s all setup and ready to go! I’m a little too tired to post a picture right now, but I picked up a couple moon lamps, a space projector and some RGB lightbulbs for my own mood lighting. I’ve been researching options for a couple months now and finally made the decision a couple days ago. Now I can pretend to be sleeping in my own astral plane, or I can use it to set the mood when playing certain games. Perhaps if I can ever get around to streaming again I can use it for ambient lighting. 😛
I finished up animating the super fruity magical acid trip that is this scene, and will be moving on to more unspeakable horror… probably involving Batman in some way. This scene was fun to work on while it lasted — it was fun playing with some melon magic as it was ridiculous. Of course, the melon magic doesn’t stop here…
To think… I wouldn’t be doing this if I hadn’t played Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. 😛
I’ve been slowly getting through Welcome To Night Vale. I’m already a few episodes into the second year of the podcast, and I’m impressed with how ridiculously consistent it stays with the overall story, no matter how ridiculous it gets. I think that’s one of the reasons why I like it so much.
You don’t want to intern for anything in Night Vale; they are basically Red Shirts in this universe, but they don’t always die… sometimes it’s worse, and very imaginative.
I spent my last day off sleeping through a rainstorm, animating in my pajamas, cooking in my pajamas, cleaning up around the house in my pajamas, shopping for mood lighting in my pajamas. I was very productive in my pajamas!
In the next few days I will be receiving some mood lighting, courtesy of the Amazing Zon. I’m getting tired of waking up and blinding myself with light in the cold dark hours of the morning. I’ve been lighting a candle every evening to provide a nice warm ambient light, but with summer and potentially warm temperatures looming around the corner I’ve been pondering alternate lighting solutions. Perhaps I’ll post pictures when everything arrives. 😀
Meanwhile, in the present; I have another SFM render going for my latest nightmare inducing/induced adventure. It’ll keep me nice and warm tonight! I think I might even put the 24/7 4K fireplace livestream on for additional ambience… Yes, this is real. I’ve already used it once when I had to do an overnight render and wanted some nice ambient lighting. It was funny waking up and seeing people talking in the chat.
I finished NieR Replicant… kinda, not really. I finished Ending A, and it was a real kick in the pants. This game is truly a masterpiece in knowing when to make you laugh and when to really feel. I’m really glad I decided to shelve Automata to finish this first. Now when I go back to playing it I’ll have a better idea of piecing the story together.
When you re-open your save after finishing the game, and you get through half an hour’s worth of recapping from the first playthrough you’re dropped off in your house where you’ll find the diary of NieR’s mother. Touching it takes you to a white room, where you’re seeing things from the perspective of Papa NieR. Every door you enter in this white realm is a chapter in the Mother’s diary. It’s very similar to Devil May Cry’s Bloody Palace; it drops you off in an area you’ve already cleared, and the purpose is to get through each chapter without dying. If you’re successful you’ll get a reward at the end of each chapter, like character costumes and weapons.
I do have to say that I can recommend this game to anyone that likes a good hack n slash. It’s beautiful, it has a very unique story, it’s funny, and you can grow watermelons in your own garden! Platinum did a wonderful job remastering it, and bringing it to PC! I look forward to playing this game again soon!
The last couple of days at work have been a bit stressful. I decided to lighten the mood tonight by stabbing a bunch of demons and Yakuza to get my aggression out, and it worked… for the most part. The night began with me chasing a possessed body, locating VHS tapes that the Yakuza stole from a demon, tea for demonic royalty, and chi crystals. All the while locating quite a few new weapons, and even scoring an achievement! What a great way to start the weekend!
It’s a good thing I still need to grind away at this game; I had a look at the reviews for Shadow Warrior 3 on Steam, and compared to Flying Wild Hog’s previous games, it doesn’t seem to be doing all that well. The largest complaint I read was the amount of playtime. It’s only about 4 hours long, 7 if you want to stretch it out. I also noticed that they decided to switch game engines as well, all of their previous games, going all the way back to Hard Reset ran on their in house engine (Flying Wild Hog Engine). This time around they decided to shelve their game engine in place of Unreal Engine 4. This isn’t really a big deal, as Shadow Warrior games aren’t really known for being all that moddable. However, I always liked their engine. Even going back to their oldest FPS Hard Reset still looks amazing, and it’s over a decade old! Both of the Shadow Warrior reboots still look stunning, even at 4K. So why did they switch? I’m starting to see more companies move towards Unreal.
Needless to say it’ll probably be a few sales before I decide to break down and get Shadow Warrior 3. There are plenty of other games that I still need to conquer anyways. 😛
Xbox and the world’s leading nail polish brand OPI, are teaming up to launch a new gaming-inspired palette for Spring 2022, inviting everyone to play and express their creativity through nail art.
They have quite a selection of colours, with 99% of the names that could only be pulled from a wormhole of cringe, like “You had me at Halo” or “Can’t CTRL Me!”. Another one in the collection is “Heart and Con-soul”… which should really be Red Ring of Death. If they had Blue Screen Of Death I’d buy that shit right the fuck up. I’d also be pretty chill with Clippy decals. I actually like the idea! But they could of at least hired me to name their products. :v
Tune in next time: When we review Valve’s lipstick with haptic feedback.
Ok… After tonight I promise I’ll blog about something else! I just wanted to share one more image involving melon magic. It also doesn’t help that I’ve been inhaling the sweet aroma of watermelon deep into this fine evening. Between this calming aroma and the wine I can hear the bed calling my name.
I made iced tea laced with watermelon, I wore watermelon clothes with watermelon accessories, and my bro even bought me a watermelon drink! Now it’s the end of my evening, and I’m relaxing in watermelon PJ’s and enjoying the aroma of a watermelon candle. There was also a small deal of work on the watermelon magical portion of my video project. I’m not sure if this or the batman scenes are more ridiculous.
It’s been awhile since I’ve had a reason to animate a magic scene. I wrote two different end scripts that involved two different kinds of melon magic and outcomes. It was difficult to pick which one to go with, they were both good, and I would have had no problem animating either one. The only problem I have is having to listen to the sound of my voice when editing or animating; There is cackling going on in this scene though, so that was surprisingly tolerable. It still feels weird having to hear it come out of this model though.
But that’s what I get for setting a config file to read only and going on a drinking binge.
