Continued my NieR Automata run as 9S this evening – managed to close some shared quests I missed as 2B, and even found some new ones as 9S.
Playing as 9S is a little different. 2B is entirely combat while 9S is some combat and “hacking”. I found a couple machines standing in strange places, all questioning deep things like the meaning of life, or their own existence. I have to admire how uniquely deep this game can be.
I’ve been spending the better part of the evening trying to diagnose a problem friends’ gaming computer. As it turns out, the memory controller is borked on the motherboard, and I’m going to recommend to them that if they’re going to change motherboards that they might as well upgrade the processor too. As it is the hardware dates all the way back to 2014. I’ll have to go over the details with them tomorrow, and come up with a potential upgrade plan.
Decided to chill with some more Spyro Trilogy. I’ve learned how to swim underwater after paying a bear an extortion fee! I helped tame a manta-ray and rescued some seahorses. I just wanted to chill tonight, been feeling a little jet lagged from pulling a graveyard.
To those who celebrate it: Happy Thanksgiving! I worked most of the day, came home and all the fixin’s were ready for me! I played a little DOOM Eternal to prep for tomorrow morning — I’ll be going in at 1 am to prep for the Blackest of Fridays.I’m actually in a good condition to collapse; full of turkey, it’s cold and gray outside, and I have a scented fucking candle going to calm me the fuck to sleep.
The Steam Autumn Sale is currently in full swing at the time of writing this. I haven’t purchased anything yet, but I’m thinking about it… as is tradition. 😛 I’m giving myself until the weekend to get something, if not there’s always the upcoming Winter Sale.
I finished up my 2B Playthrough in NieR Automata tonight, next time I play it’ll be as 9S. I also wanted to play to vent a little, it was a day that went about as smoothly as sandpaper across the my backside. This is the time of year where games become my ultimate squeeze ball.
Took a small break from my platinum shenanigans to play a wee bit of Spyro Trilogy before calling it a night. I finished one of the worlds, and now I’ve left off in a world where I have to help babysit turtles. It was a nice colourful getaway before making preparations to sacrifice myself to the darkness in exchange for work energy. I’m gonna need as much of it is I can this week…
I found a secret oil oasis while wandering around in the deserts of NieR Automata, and I found that even in android society you will find drug dealers.
I went through surviving the religious machine suicide mission, well… I only died once. :v Fortunately my body died on a conveyor belt, so I didn’t have to go too far to collect myself. That was pretty much my whole playthrough for the evening. I haven’t felt well for most of the day, so the rest of my time was pretty much spent napping and watching a friend of mine grow watermelons and a bee colony on his virtual boat.
Between a busy work week, poor sleep cycle and extra things to do I’ve been too busy to really enjoy anything. I’m thinking of just taking it easy tomorrow, maybe do a little Pre-Cyber Monday looky-loos on the digital storefronts. I may or may not work on some SFM projects, and if my voice can finally cooperate I’d like to record some voice lines! The lack of sleep has made me sound more hoarse lately. I’m hoping a day of rest brings it back from the dead.
Onto brighter news: I bought my first Bluetooth speaker today! I paid about $37 for a new $180 speaker! I figured at that price I could find purpose for it while looking around for a Bluetooth boombox or internet radio. I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet, but I’ve turned it on and paired it with my devices. I might have to start making some night time themed playlists, something to help me cash in at the bank of Zzzzz’s.
One of my work buddies recently introduced me to a podcast I had never heard of before, and given the subject matter I’m surprised I haven’t heard of it sooner. It’s called Welcome to Night Vale; A podcast that takes place in an imaginary desert town where things are not quite what they seem, for lack of a better term…
The podcast is basically just a half hour radio show from a fictional town called Night Vale. The host of the show talks about strange oddities and rituals going on throughout the local community as if they were day to day mundane routines. The first episode announces a local dog park, and warns listeners that dogs are not allowed in the dog park, and people are not allowed in the dog park. Later on a few episodes down you meet a giant sentient glow cloud that everyone is afraid of, and eventually it joins the PTA. I think I’m currently on Episode 7? I’ve been listening to the playlist while working on some digital projects. 😛
