Sometimes You Gotta Punch Your Problems Away

I started on the final VM containing TF2 and both Left 4 Dead’s, it’s about 95% complete. I still need to finish setting it up, opening up the ports, etc. In between setup points I did make time to export some audio for an upcoming project! One I’d like to return to after getting everything else taken care of.

With only about half an hour to kill, it only made sense to go on a punching spree to finish off the evening on a proper tone. It had been awhile since I’ve checked in on Kiryu and pals, and it took me a moment to remember where I last left off. Games like these are difficult to put down… fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you wanna look at it) I had my ass handed to me in a boss fight, ending my brief spree of punching all of da him’s.

When Game Universes Collide

Yutram and I revisited the GMod Sandbox server this evening; we found some new maps to explore! We went to a couple islands and resorts, traveled down rainbow road, and ended up at Mother Base. It was quite the adventure!

In the pursuit of doing what no one has asked for – I’ve taken it upon myself to look for maps to add both Quake III Arena Servers, that will be another rainy day project though… along with making a shoutcast server that I can conjure up at will for DJing.

Having A Bloody Good Time

After a long week of work I just haaaaad to break down and lost myself once more in the world of NieR Replicant. I completed a few sidequests, found a few more, and got my ass beaten by a giant shade to the point of putting the controller down and saying “fuck it”.

I’ll probably shelve it for now. I wanted to pick something else out from my library tomorrow, or possibly focus on my digital empire. :v

If This TARDIS Is a Rockin’

Yutram was kind enough to help me test out the new GMod server. We partied so hard in the caves of Dear Esther that we crashed the server. Stayed a little longer than expected, but it was fun to work and play a bit at the same time…

I think I like our version of the metaverse better than Fuckerberg’s. 😛

How Bout Dem Melonz

Finally got the GMods up and running! There are still a few server side tweaks that I’ll need to do, but the server is stable and ready to go! The TF2’s and L4D’s will be next on the list, and then I’ll finally be able to say au revoir to CentOS for good. It was a great OS while it lasted, too bad Streams came along and fucked it up.

Wednesday Evening Open Thread

Twas a busy day today. I didn’t have enough time to focus on VM’s tonight, but there was a small amount of time to animate Batman a little bit. Now I’m readying myself to hopefully get a little extra rest for what will probably be another busy day tomorrow.

Open Thread!

Progress!

Tonight’s vm setup was a little more successful. I don’t have them up and running yet, but all files have been copied over for me to begin plugging everything together tomorrow! While waiting for files to copy I got a little more animation done in SFM; I’m about a minute and a half of animation in so far, and another 3 and a half minutes to go… give or take. All of these things require great patience… and tea.

It’s Been A Nerdy Ass Weekend

The blog(s) went down again this morning — fortunately it was right when I was waking up to check them. Everything seemed to clear up again when I removed the plugins folder, and that gave me a good excuse to start removing plugins that currently are currently not in use. I’ve been slowly adding different things back in throughout the day. Hopefully nothing funny happens while I’m at work tomorrow… I’d hate to have to think about it all throughout my shift.

On a brighter note I worked a little more in SFM on my October project. I’m thinking I might tear into the VM’s for the gameservers again in a day or two. I ran into a snag with the new GMod VM, and so far the easiest option for me would probably be to delete it and start over. It was still in a pretty basic setup, so it isn’t a big loss. I’ll also have to do the same for the Quake III VM’s in the future, but those have enough resources on them for now for me to not worry about it. Focus on fixing all of the other sheeeeeeeeet.

Trading JRPGS for Indies

I guess I didn’t have much energy to post yesterday… I blame NieR’s musical score for lulling me to sleep. I did wake up this morning with some fine energy, made a good breakfast and did a few things around the house. Oh, and of course there was some 4K gaming shenanigans. 😛 But I gave the Japanese RPG games a rest, and focused on playing some Unreal Engine Indie Games like Overload, and BPM: Bullets Per Minute.

I still suck at it, but I did at least get an achievement for getting out of the first two levels! It’s an FPS Roguelike where you can only shoot to the beat of the music, all the while traversing a dungeon that changes each time you die, which makes the gameplay much less stale at least.

On this particular playthough I happened to find a bank! Handy for stashing extra coinage when I don’t have a use for it. As an added bonus if you find the bank again after you die you’ll be able to retrieve your coins. That came in handy this evening for buying some pricey powerups that can’t easily be obtained within one dungeon romp. As much as I keep dying it’s oddly addicting to play.
