The Mind Of OverlordTomala

This Weekend In Gaming: Platinum Edition

I figured after an unfabulous week I would play a couple of fabulous games, and VRChat (we’ll save that for another post). Yesterday I completed a few chapters in Bayonetta. I’m having to replay it again due to losing a save file somehow, but that just gives me a chance to knock some of the rust off of her moveset.

I also wanted to check back into NieR Automata now that it received a patch to fix certain plaguing the game since launch. As a result I can do proper OBS recordings now! I can definitely recommend the game now that it isn’t bound to 720p without additional modding, and I might even buy the DLC during a future sale. I should also make time to play both of these on the big screen, that way I can torture everyone in the house with Bayonetta’s finishing moves. 😛

Now that I have the OBS issues taken care of with NieR Automata — I’ll have to livestream it at somepoint, and also return to streaming Bayonetta. I’ve already begun on animating part 2 of the Bayonetta video series, and also the semi-secret holiday video. 😛 I’ll be returning to either of those tomorrow now that I’ve had a couple days of play.

It Was A Friday The 13th Kinda Day

After today I’m longing for the weekend to start… I had no choice but to work by myself today; we’re experiencing a large COVID spike where I live, and a little over 20 of my co-workers are out sick with a few of them in critical condition (ER and ICU). Oddly enough, all of the people out sick with it are people who didn’t mask and didn’t vaccinate. I had to work alone today because these people refuse to take care of themselves, and have no qualms encouraging others to get just as sick as they are. We’ve already had a couple of local businesses close down temporarily due to spread among the staff, and the exponential increase in cases continues to wear on the few of us who are sane enough to take care of ourselves. It’s not like there’s a vaccine shortage, you could literally walk in and they’ll give you one without an appointment. Hell, some places are even offering money and in some cases even beer to get a fucking jab.

I WAS GOOD WHERE IS MY FUCKING BEER.

Guilty Pleasures: Scambaiting

A friend from work introduced me to the world of scambaiting, where people will deliberately waste a scammer’s time in one form or another. There’s just something entertaining about having someone connect unknowingly to a VM for god tier trolling.

I’ve already been well aware of all kinds of scams that are going around these days, but a lot of these kinds of videos do a good job of not just trolling the scammers, but provide in depth analysis of how these scammer groups operate. I praise these people for their art, education and dedication to both keeping people informed and saving potential victims by wasting their time.

I actually wouldn’t mind doing something like this; in fact I’ve done it a couple of times at work when they call up pretending to work for TehGoogle. THey must have been busy, they didn’t seem a tad interested in the fact that I lived in the State of Germany and consolidated three stores into one building. I’m not one to usually boast, but I’d say that’s pretty durn impressive.

Ok… I Did It.

I was showing the specs of the upcoming Steam Deck to a friend of mine the other day, when I happened to notice the pre-order date had been extended (despite ending in July according to the official site). I’ve been reading up on the hardware, and admire Valve’s dedication, and even working alongside AMD for this project. I decided since the actual money doesn’t go out until these are ready I said to myself “screw it!” I’ll get in line to pre-order one of these (512GB model for obvious reasons)! I know I would be able to utilize it accordingly, and it would be an absolute bonus if I got my hands on it before a holiday trip next year! It will be interesting to see how many units sell, and if it helps add to the Linux Gaming Marketshare.

Drinking In The Completion

Now With 100% More Colour

I should have another video ready by tomorrow! I finished rendering the SFM portion, tomorrow I’ll add it into the video, do some audio magic and it’ll be done! I played more Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon to celebrate the last bit of my weekend. It was nice having a peaceful two days to melt away the five stress inducing ones, and to help me rest up for the upcoming five.

How Sega Stole My Weekend

I recently purchased Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 during one of the recent sales, and I was in a mood to give it a proper play. This is definitely geared towards kids, but the game itself is a fun time killer. It even runs nicely on my Linux Surface Pro. It has 4 player co-op and Steam Remote Play support!

I’ve also been meaning to get back into one of my Japanese Soapland Operas. I spent the rest of tonight just chilling and playing some Yakuza: Like A Dragon. I beat Chapter 6 tonight, and I’m just a little ways into 7. I almost streamed it tonight, but I’ve had a bit of a headache for most of the evening. I really do want to stream something one of these weekends. The question is: Will Twitch ban me for using that weapon? 😛

An Annoying Robot And A Cursed XBox Walk Into A Bar… Somehow

I’m almost done on the ending for the BL2 video! I’ll tweak it a bit more and then it should be good to render. I might even be able to finish it tomorrow! It’d be nice to have another one canned and ready to go, then it’ll be onto the next monstrosity. 😛

Inside The Overlord’s Studio

So far the hardest part of my current project is having to listen through Claptrap’s dialogue. This will probably take a little longer than I thought; I didn’t account for all the individual models I’d be animating, even for such a tiny ending. I’m thinking it’ll be another week, maybe two tops if my brain doesn’t think of other goofy shit to add.
