The Mind Of OverlordTomala

The Chillin’ Begins

I couldn’t help but spoil myself with more couch gaming after making a nice dinner (too hungry to take pictures). Tonight was a DMC5 night, and I also installed a few new games onto my Linux Surface Pro!

I don’t have much planned for tomorrow. Some form of breakfast, some digital shopping maybe, a little tidying, and maybe look at ideas for a new haircut. I haven’t done anything with it since last year before the pandemic. Oh, and maybe a game. 😛

Pre Weekend Open Thread

I’ve been mapping out my weekend, or at least the start of it. I’m thinking of doing some Thai stuff, and maybe a few other random things this weekend. There might even be food porn if I can exercise some self control, and take a picture BEFORE eating it… I can’t help it if I wake up hungry on the weekends.

Evening Open Thread

I’m not in much of a writing mood tonight. I’m just glad that I have enough hobbies to keep my mind off certain things at the end of the evening. I won’t say much about it, but I’m really fucking tired of people who exist to be self entitled knuckle children farmers. The more I pay attention to the people around me; whom I’ve come to know over the years from working and other means of socializing, the more withdrawn from people I’ve become from them. I’d rather be alone doing something I enjoy, than spend time with someone who would quickly grow tired of my existence. I’d like to think I’m saving some random ammosexual some bullets by privately enjoying my own swag.

Protip: The Pizza Makes It a LAN Party.

Got to work on making the scene look a little more “lived in”. Dressing our characters, as well as the scene. Tomorrow I will begin the animation process; I’m really looking forward to it! For some reason I’m really digging the idea of going to another game universe with a friend to have a small LAN party that takes place in the same universe.

You would think something that meta could break the universe, but then again Pandora itself is pretty broken. 😛

Somewhere… In The Overlord’s Imagination

Yesterday was best spent extracting audio for the next part of the Bayonetta project, and it’s looking to be a three parter, with a long animation process. I don’t think I’ll have them all done by October. I’ll revisit them after the next two video projects I have lined up. I’ve already begun setting the stage:

WIP

I’m still in the early stages of setting up the scene. I have no plans to add animations to the Borderlands 2 video, but I want to throw in an ending like I did for the Portal 2 video. I’m thinking either late August at the soonest, or November depending on how long it takes to finish the video from animation to the video editing itself. I’m optimistic enough to think that it won’t take me too long, and if not? good things come to those who wait.

Italian Eggs Benedict?

The last couple of weekend breakfasts have been quinoa experiments, this weekend I returned to the basics; white sauces and eggs! I made a cream sauce with spinach and marinated artichoke hearts, and some Mascapone and Parmesan cheeses for extra creaminess. Poured over poached eggs sitting atop an English Muffin. The sauce is easy to reheat, and if you’re well versed in the art of poaching eggs in a microwave it makes for a nice quick and easy breakfast the next day.

I have a small amount of sauce left; I might re-purpose it for after work lunch tomorrow for a pasta or quinoa bowl.

Spaced Out Sunday

After playing a bit of Overload yesterday, I felt the itch to get spaced out some more. I’ve successfully made it to a moonbase on Phoebe, and my current objective is to rescue workers turned hostages in stasis, and eventually a boss battle with a dick ship (not to be confused with whatever the fuck Jeff Bezos blasted off in recently). Everything from the level design, to the music and pickups brings back many memories of the old Descent games. If AMID EVIL is a love letter to games like Hexen and Heretic, then Overload is easily the modern Descent game. I almost livestreamed it tonight, but wasn’t sure how my stomach would hold up given all the aerial flips you can make in that game. Fortunately I didn’t get sea sick, and I think that clears me to stream it next time.

I’ve also successfully remapped the controller buttons in game, made it more comfortable. Next time I play it on the TV I’ll be ready. 😛

That TV Ain’t Gonna Use Itself

Started off the weekend with more couch gaming! This time I invited my bro for a little science experiment involving split screen co-op. 65″ is the perfect size for side by side co-op, we both played Serious Sam 3! We would have played Serious Sam 4, but I couldn’t find a split screen co-op mode. I also played more Carmageddon, Pac Man (lol), Serious Sam 4, and even tried Overload, a game heavily inspired by the old Descent series. I haven’t played it much with a controller, and I can tell even with the Steam Controller it’ll take some getting used to; I might even have to remap the buttons or make a custom config, the buttons just don’t feel right.

I wonder what else would look good playing on a big screen? As detailed as games are these days, a large screen can really provide an almost theatrical experience. I have a day or two to think it over.

On Monday I’ll be looking into my next video project; another one that will be a long ways away, though it was nice to have a few days to make 5 seconds of fun.
