The Mind Of OverlordTomala

Suddenly Haven Moon

Once upon a time, a slightly younger Overlord purchased an indie game called Haven Moon but didn’t get very far due to ping-ponging between different game universes. You are MYSTeriously teleported to a Moon containing four islands, and you have to figure out how to teleport between them with the equipment located on each island. So far I’ve managed to find four out of the 10 achievements/trophies in the game, which are also a mystery (you can’t see what they are until you solve them).

For being a one guy dev team it has nice visuals, though mouse movement looks a little strange when playing at a higher refresh rate. It isn’t too jarring, but next time I play I’ll have to see if there’s a cfg or ini that I can tweak to make it friendlier on my monitor. The visuals hold up pretty well in 4K, and the soundtrack is as relaxing as the game itself. I wasn’t feeling too good when I got off work today, and wanted to play something a bit more on the peaceful side. I’m not sure when I’ll come back to this one, but I did leave a note for future me so that I hopefully won’t be too confused.

Another Day, Another Scorcher

We had some record breaking temperatures here at Overlord HQ today! A whopping 43C  when I got off work today! It’s JUST starting to cool off tonight, with the scent of sulfur in the air. Mostly took to the tablet and played DOOM 64 on my Steam Deck and chatted with friends across my collection of small devices. It’s a good thing I don’t have any videos planned currently, wouldn’t be able to get them done.

The weather is supposed to be like this for a couple weeks. I wouldn’t mind it so much if it was just a few degrees cooler, or time off to reeeeally enjoy the weather.

Meanwhile in Hell

I think I built up enough rage at work today to clear Elysium on tonight’s Hades run. It felt good fisting demons and the dead after a long day of MAGA morons that can’t handle me wearing a fucking mask because of my allergies. Fuck these people with something hard, preferably rolled in tar, glass and salt.

First Open Thread Of July

Last night I had a dream about playing over at the home of a friend I never had. We played tag, hide n’ seek, climbed trees and anything else kids did before cellphones and Fortnite took off. Then I remember when the kid’s father came home and wanted to know who I was, making me realize the friend I was playing with, was never anyone I knew. I told him that they needed someone to help them with a few games and he shrugged as I packed up my things and went on my way.  As I walked away I could feel myself aging to modern time, and before long I woke up to a warm summer morning and distorted summer memories with an imaginary friend.

I made myself a hearty three course brunch that isn’t as fancy as it might sound, listened to a couple podcasts and did a little couch gaming until even that started feeling too hot. Spent a good chunk of the warm day reading on my tablet in a few shaded areas about shady shit from the Imperial Court, and a few cat and meme pictures in between to give my brain a break to parse the bullshittery that will be unfolding in the upcoming days ahead.

The Wild Bluegleam Yonder

Finished a few quests in the Frozen Wilds tonight. Finally got all the materials I needed to trade for a bluegleam map, and have been making my way around the frozen tundra harvesting bluegleam aplenty. It’s a blue machine gem that you can trade for special valuables like weapons and outfits. So far I’ve claimed over 50.

I would of had more screenshots to share, but for whatever reason the screenshot key wouldn’t save anything while I had screenshots set to a custom folder. After disabling the external folder option I was able to take screenshots again. Strange that it still made the camera noise but didn’t take a shot…

I’m thinking of continuing tomorrow to try and finish up the DLC, might even play it on the big screen! Haven’t turned on the TV PC in about a month, maybe enjoy some cinematic adventures during tomorrow’s breakfast. 😀

Saturday Night Open Thread

The weather was kind today, it gave me a nice summer day to start off my weekend! I made a large salad with a nice tangy dressing, and stuck with my tablet and Steam Deck for entertainment. Felt weird not turning the main desktop on at all today, but it was hot enough that I didn’t feel like adding to it. I’m perfectly fine murdering Nazis in handheld mode, and I have a tablet and a laptop I can blog from to my heart’s content.

Speaking of gaming, the Steam Summer sale is in full swing; I’m seeing a bunch of steam friends buying alllll kinds of swag. Me? Nothing yet. I’m gonna ponder it while working through what I already have. 😛 Got an achievement/trophy tonight for 86ing a Nazi cunt. With fascism currently being in style at the moment it wouldn’t be hard to write a new BloodRayne sequel.

Anyways… Open Thread!

Return To Ex-Zodiac

They recently updated Ex-Zodiac and added a new level, some new enemy ships and up’d the difficulty a bit on the earlier levels. The boss battle in the latest one allows you to fight a bull and his bull mech. If the battle doesn’t give your hands carpel tunnel you can at least cause the boss to cramp up if you fire enough ammo at his fists.

I’m thinking of streaming it one of these nights, adding it to the potential list of streamworthy games along with Whisker Squadron Survivor and a few others.
