You can have a meatless breakfast and still come through satisfied. I took some leftover produce and ingredients from my Thai dinner the other night and whipped together a breakfast sandwich. I mixed together a scrambled egg mix that consisted of 4 eggs, a pinch of salt, some grindings of pepper, some grindings of shichimi togarashi (Japanese pepper spice), red pepper flakes, fresh cilantro, fresh grated ginger and some green onion. Before adding it to the pan I sauteed a purple shallot with some chopped ginger and deli red peppers (for added color) in salt, pepper, more shichimi and some lime juice. Then I stuck it between two slices of bread with some swiss cheese and sweet red pepper sauce (which also has a butt load of ginger) and I fried it like a typical grilled cheese. I was beyond impressed with the results, it was packed with the right amount of flavor, and meshed well with the cheese and the bread. How can you say no to that ooey gooey mess? I even made up enough for a breakfast wrap tomorrow.
Sunday Night Open Thread
The worst thing I could think of happened… there was no bacon to fry this weekend. But I still had some leftover ham. I made up one scrambled egg with paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, onion, garlic powder and some parsley, with some ham and swiss on top with a little bit of deli sliced red bell pepper, and secured between two crusty slices of French Bread. Wasn’t what I had in mind for breakfast this morning, but it was actually quite good.
I was going to write something yesterday, but ended up taking a 12 hour nap by accident. I feel well rested, but a bit sore… rough work week and all that.
Also managed to do a little livestream this evening; You can watch it here, as this one is a Twitch exclusive. If I have time to do a stream tomorrow I will, probably something else tho. Gained a couple new followers tonight too and peaked at 4! It was a good night I’d say.
A Meal Well Seasoned
I had some Shrimp lying around in the freezer, and green curried rice sounded nice. So I made that for dinner tonight along with some veggies.
This is a Thai inspired hot and sour salad. I didn’t have all the vegetables I needed in order to make it, but it still tasted fine to me.
For a light dessert type thing I had a green chai with coconut milk and a little honey. This particular chai blend has almonds in it, complimenting the green tea and the coconut milk.
The best part is that I have plenty of leftovers for after work. I’ve been doing milkshakes in the afternoon the last couple of days and it’ll be nice to have some noodles to greet me after work.
Project Diary Thread: Beds Are Awesome Edition
I’ve been having fun learning how to animate blankets on a bed, they actually move easily once you get used to maneuvering them. I mostly focused on lighting and camera angles, and the animation here didn’t take me too horribly long. I’ll be able to focus on the next scene tomorrow if there’s time… I have plans to be making dinner tomorrow, thinking something Thai.
Oh, and Proton turns one year old today! Here’s to one year of playing with things under Linux, including SFM.
All cozy n shit
Got another scene primed and ready to go for tomorrow! Didn’t have time to work on much else, and I had a fixed computer to give back to someone. All in all a good evening. I worked with Yutram tonight, and we decided this will be his bedroom. It plays a pivotal role in a future scene… kinda. :v:
This picture is reminding me to do something…
Slaying Demons and Sipping Tea

Well, another weekend nearing its end and another computer has been saved. I’ll be returning it to them tomorrow and they can WoW to their heart’s content. I also got some audio work done today for my next SFM sessions (tomorrow probably). I took a break and decided to play a little bit of Darksiders (Warmastered Edition), and much like the last time I played I’m still stumped. I know I have to kill a monster hanging above in this room but I forget how I’m supposed to do it. Might have to look it up if I can’t get any further on my next attempt.
I also made time to try my new teas. I tried the Rhubarb Cherry Cobbler one, and that had a nice juicy cherry juice kinda vibe to it, but I think the winner had to be Red Velvet Cake. I even prefer it over the Republic Of Tea version, it has more of a flavor to it compared to the bagged version Republic Of Tea offers… I’m thinking for Red Velvet Cake the Pinky Up version will become my main squeeze. It tastes good on its own or with a little milk or a milk substitute mixed in. I’m using some coconut milk in mine and it tastes really great with the fruit mixture already in the tea. So if you ever get the chance to buy at least the Red Velvet Cake one, do so.
I was also talking to Bong about Wiki stuff, he built his own and it reminded me that I wanted to rebuild mine at some point, but with the intent of it being about the characters already in our animated universe and any “back story” they may have. Ronald McDonald is going to be a fun one to write about, along with Batman! and the others… That will be a project for another weekend, next weekend if I don’t have another computer randomly following me home I had a weekend shopping trip planned. Not sure if I’ll buy anything but there will at least be some research involved.
Busy Weekend
Brought home another computer to work on for the weekend. Seems to be having similar issues to the previous one, seems that the latest Windows Update has claimed another victim. Only in this case the system seems to give off a Blue Screen Of Death randomly when playing WoW. I’m going to do a clean reinstall, and have him step back a build. It’s one of those Alienware Steam Boxes. All in all it has good parts in it. He only uses it for WoW. Should have it back in his hands either tomorrow or in time when I head back to work.
I also made some more SFM progress; completed two renders, need to do two more. But before I do that I’ll need to extract some audio from a couple recent recording sessions with Yutram. I’ll be working on the ending sequences, then once I finish and export those I’m done and can return to Shotcut to piece things together for both videos. I’m thinking the endings may take awhile, especially for the second one. I might work on that one before the first one just to get it out of the way.
I also went on a bit of a shopping spree yesterday. I bought some stuff for renovating my closet a little, and some teas. One is a Cherry Rhubarb and the other one is supposed to be a Red Velvet cake. I haven’t had a chance to try them yet, been enjoying some flowering tea. I think I have one more brew I can get out of it before moving onto something else… might give one of the new teas a try tomorrow.
One of those threads of the open variety
I had a busy day, and I’m too buzzed to write anything worth while.
Have at it m8’s.
Not sure if trolling or serious
On the drive back from a milk run I noted the amount of homeless people with signs out on the road, and all in close proximity to each other. I counted about three or four, all of them had signs. One was a young skinny guy that was begging for food, said he’d take anything. Then I saw this young woman in a nice summer chair out near a crosswalk, dressed well enough for a warm summer day, sunglasses and all that, as well as a sign that said “My Birthday is in 2 Days, anything helps”. I think I had a mental moment similar to Lewis Black’s “If it weren’t for my horse” skit. I honestly couldn’t fucking tell if that was a real life troll or if she was seriously that much of an entitled killatwat. Either way, she had a smug look on her face that would suggest that she likes to shit the bed frequently, and bask in the aroma permeating the air.
I deal with the public everyday, and the public includes the homeless. Yeah, there are some that are homeless because of bad attitudes and decisions. There are also people that lost their jobs, can’t get back on their feet because no one will hire them, or they’re just too mentally fucked up to even halfway function at a shit job that will hire almost anyone with a pulse (unless it’s a dead guy up against someone that vapes cannabis oil, then the dead guy wins), and have no one else to turn to. We used to have institutions to keep these kinds of things in check, but history would say that in the 80’s that’s how we started to really Make America Great Again™ :zorak:
I’m sorry… I had a Grandmother who had to raise 7 kids on her lonesome after her husband ditched her for her best friend. I would hear stories about what they had to do to survive day to day, and how Grandma had to go from being a housewife with no experience to finding any form of work just to stay afloat. As a result my view of the poor seems to clash with everyone else… although I already clash with everyone else on other subjects and people with similar hobbies, so what have I got to lose? :v:
I used to be the kind of person that wouldn’t wish that sort of thing onto anyone, but now, living in an age where literally almost any of us could miss a paycheck or two, or have a medical catastrophe thing happen to them to completely fuck up their life… I’m tired of seeing all of these well off self entitled little shits, and wretched fuckmuffins that think they’re well off enough to be mocking the very people they could be joining in a soup kitchen line someday. Lately it seems like the only way people are able to learn anything is to have first hand experience, and to that I say bring on the brawndo mates!
Evening Open Thread: Sandvich Edition
It was too warm for me to want to cook anything today/tonight. I made some nice hearty sandwiches, for all to share. I even have enough for after work lunch tomorrow. I was wearing my Half Life 2 shirt today at work, and the spirit of Gabe’s many sub sandwiches convinced me to make something hearty with not too much effort, and I think I succeeded.
Today was productive, both at work and at home with SFM; got a lot of animation out of the way. I might even be able to render something tomorrow. :zorak: Nothing worth sharing yet, will keep posted. In the meantime, to keep with the theme of Valve and sandwiches, here is one of my favorite TF2 characters:
