The Mind Of OverlordTomala

Lara Croft And The Temple Of Amnesia

I’ve been meaning to play this for quite some time (preferably with friends) and was lucky enough to do so this afternoon. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered a bug that seems to randomly happen on certain systems that prevents the application from saving your progress. :zorak: I read around and discovered this bug has existed since release, and for whatever reason the devs never bothered fixing it. There isn’t even word of a fan patch that could fix the issue. Shameful…

This game had potential (I say had because it has pretty much been abandoned), and I was hyped to be able to play with more than just two people even with it being as buggy as it is during multiplayer. Oh, and surprise surprise it appears the console versions didn’t share these issues. :zorak:

I’ve uninstalled the game for now. Additionally I could install someone’s save file, or delete a particular folder, start the game, change a setting, and move some save files to get it to work… but I could invest that kind of time into playing and modding games that actually work. I guess I could test this on my laptop or the HTPC. If it works I could always play local coop with my bro.

I wanted to continue with recording the game to continue this style of series:

Alas, twas not meant to be I guess… I’ll have to apply this style to another game, if I can find something comparable.

Wandering the wasteland in high heels.

On a whim I had an itch to return to Fallout 4. On my previous build it wasn’t very well optimized, but this time around it runs a lot smoother despite not detecting my hardware. There are still some hiccups in certain places, but I think those can be tweaked with mods and ini variables.

Fallout Automata

I’ll have to make a second attempt at getting this to work on my laptop. On my previous one I got it to work fine, but no matter what I tried it outright refused to use most of the mods I downloaded in NMM. I’m thinking last time it was a permissions setting, and I’m hoping that by playing around a bit more with the desktop version I’ll have a better time getting it ironed out.

Real Life Overlord Sighting

I received some pictures from Princess Barbie (best friend since childhood) from here most recent visit in town, and would like to share one of them:

There is a bench in the local park that you can sit on and it makes it look like whales are kissing your bum. I’m not sure if this was the intent, but creative nevertheless.

Baby’s first livestream

I did my first successful livestream on Twitch tonight. I streamed Distance, you can watch the full stream here if you’re bored and want to see me die numerous times. I had a good time though, that game is really relaxing… at least it was until I got trapped in fidget spinner hell.

Originally I was going to do a private stream over Steam of Audiosurf 2 so that my friends could choose what horrifying pieces of disaster I would ride via YouTube, but it seems the YouTube feature was removed recently. At first I thought it was me being forgetful, but it seems I wasn’t the only one to notice. This is kind of a bummer considering that and the workshop are what I think make this better than the original, and the original was already damn good… Instead I got to ride Justin Bieber’s Nipples. :morty:

I’m not sure if I’ll have time for another livestream tomorrow. But I want to do this again soon, and more frequently. :melon:

Evening Open Thread

I wanted to do a livestream of Serious Sam Fusion Beta, but due to some audio issues that creeped up whenever running the program I currently can’t go about playing it. I’m too exhausted to think about playing anything else either. A long day of work and horseplay at the river on only 4 hours of sleep have left me in a listless mood. I think it’s time for me to lay my weary head to rest and accept whatever my imagination decides to fuck me over with tonight.

While I do that, here is an Open Thread.

Looking into the streaming scene again

One of the many things I read about Ryzen CPU’s is their ability to stream AND leave you with plenty of resources for your game or anything else you could think of. On my old Xeon Skyrim never looked good enough to me unless I wanted a higher quality setting, which caused my framerates to dip periodically. With my Ryzen 7 I only used about 19% to 23% even while recording via the GPU at the same time. I guess this means I’ll have to look into doing livestreams at some point. 😛 No facecam though.

I’m compiling a list of games I want to publicly embarrass myself with, and so far I have these:

  1. Broforce
  2. Skyrim
  3. Saints Row Series
  4. Doom/Quake/Wolfenstein Series
  5. Shadow Warrior Series
  6. Serious Sam Series
  7. Hard Reset
  8. Windows 3.11 For Workgroups

If anyone has a suggestion feel free to add it to my list via the comments.

It’s good to have hobbies

The temperature was much cooler today, resulting me staying in , resulting in me spending several hours editing over three hours of footage into a seven minute clip, took me the whole afternoon but it’s all cut up. All I need to do is refine it and add some finishing touches, then I’ll have another one in the can. I’m starting to get low on video footage again, gonna have to fix that. I already have another video lined up for tomorrow; I’m sure some of you can guess what it’ll be. :melon:

Of course it wasn’t all work on my day off! I played a bit of Okami HD. I’m not sure if it’s the art style, music, or the whole environment in general but playing it is very relaxing. It felt good to play while listening to the wind flow through the tree outside my window. The only thing that might complete my immersion would be putting it on my laptop and playing it in the middle of a forest… though that would just make me look like an ass. :assy: Although other people enjoy their smart phones and other handhelds; why deny me some balanced time with nature and technology? If it were warmer today I probably would have done something of that caliber.
