Darksiders Remaster, another buggy release for 2016

ds

Yesterday I took the Warmastered Edition of Darksiders for a spin, it’s free to those who have the original game so if you haven’t checked your inventory recently you might want to give it a go. I will warn you though, it’s buggy and laggy.

Running the game in a Borderless Window seems pointless right now, as mousing over to my second monitor and clicking minimizes the game, the cutscenes have a serious latency issue, and overall performance has been sketchy. Once again mostly on AMD cards with some NVidia users here and there chiming in. On the brightside, the dev’s are actively looking into the problem and even have a beta out right now. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I heard there isn’t much of a performance difference. Nothing stellar anyway.

A shame really, the graphics look really nice. Guess I’ll put this in the same category as Obduction for “wait and see if it improves”, although with the amount of attention that is being paid towards these lag issues it stands a good chance of being taken care of. And I can’t complain too much as this was a freebie just like the bioshock and skyrim remasters.

Update

People are reporting good performance with the beta. Will have to give it a go at some point!

War, war never changes…

The whole war turned my hair white, even before the war.

With the Steam sale I decided Fallout 4 was cheap enough with both the game and the season pass (although I purchased it through Bundle Stars instead with an additional Black Friday coupon), and so far it’s basically Skyrim with guns. I’ve really been enjoying it, even though I have some pet peeves about it compared to Skyrim.

In Skyrim you could press ESC to get out of any menu or map, but in this you have to use TAB instead unless you’re using workshop mode, then you have to press ESC. That has taken some getting used to. Then of course there is a framerate issue, being that NVidia and Bethesda have been bed buddies for over a decade I kinda expected it. But in most places the framerate stays at 60, in larger areas it dips down pretty low though. Probably doesn’t help that I’ve added a foliage mod to make the scenery more fabulous. There have been points where I’ve had to stop playing it to rest my eyes because of it, one of the same reasons why I can’t play much of Obduction between the low framerates and the stuttering. I think my new glasses somehow make it worse, this is going to be one of those games that I’ll progress through very slowly as a result.

Fabulous hair is fabulous.

I mentioned that I added a foliage mod, I also added some character mods too since vanilla was so… vanilla. Made my character amazing. Then there is my husband…

Error: Don’t know how to father.

Plus I’ve added some additional armors, suits and weapons that I’ll hopefully find in the future.

Open Thread

Once again I wasn’t able to record any gameplay, mostly because I was stuck talking to an idiot during my lunch hour. I did manage to play still while he talked about himself for about 45 minutes. He did ask me my opinion on what I thought of the new Final Fantasy game though, I told him this video pretty much mirrored my opinion. Then he proceeded to talk about the other Final Fantasy games and what he thought about each and every one of them.

Work overall was pretty busy. I can’t wait for Christmas! Then it’ll all be over…

New Week Open Thread

So once again I wasn’t able to publish any vlogs, one due to a short lunch one day and another day for chilling with some people persons during a longer one. I’m hoping if I’m not overly tired this week I’ll release a vid.

I spent the day doing a little bit of cleaning, bedding needed to be done and the floor needed a good brushing. I was also up for a bit of old school Half-Life (Gold Source). A game I’ve never finished, mostly because during that era I was too glued to Tomb Raider, Quake and Doom games. I’m just a bit passed my first confrontation with the soldiers. They don’t like me very much. 😛

Microsoft is now a platinum member of the Linux Foundation

I’m starting to feel like I woke up in an alternate universe, especially after reading this.

SAN FRANCISCO – November 16, 2016 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit advancing professional open source management for mass collaboration, today announced that Microsoft has joined the organization at a Platinum member during Microsoft’s Connect(); developer event in New York.

Like most of Microsoft’s involvement in other projects I wonder how long till take for them to destroy Linux? 😛

That time of the year again

There was going to be a Vlog today, but Bioshock Infinite kept crapping out whenever I tried to Alt+Tab to set it up in OBS classic. I’ll try to aim for next Thursday or Friday, possibly both if I have enough time.

Speaking of time, there was none today. We received a ton of Black Friday freight on top of regular freight that had to be broken down. I remember last year and even earlier this year when a freight load was this large I was either scheduled or requested to come in early. But due to our shrinking numbers in people and hours that seems to be impossible, much like finishing up today. It was impossible, especially with every Tuesday being Geriatric Tuesday until Christmas.

That of course brought in some interesting people persons. There was one old man that grabbed a screen protector for an iPhone 6 and thought it was an iPhone. Another one wanted to know which iPhone case worked for her Samsung Galaxy Sky, and there were others. Between the excessive amount of merchandise and the constant traffic with a bare bones staff it just kind of ate at me. I can’t wait until Christmas just to get this damned stuff over with.

Awaiting the inevitable

I’ve been meaning to write this for awhile now, but haven’t been able to convey my thoughts correctly into words. Even now I find myself struggling in my train of thought over last Tuesday. I took a nap after getting off of work and awoke to find that the groper in chief was chosen to lead our country. I was stunned, and to a degree I still find myself feeling numb. The election itself wasn’t that great, and I wasn’t really overjoyed by either candidate from the primaries to the final conclusion, but I cast my vote and hoped for the best. Trump won, he actually won. Despite all the insane things he said, despite his own scandals, despite openly admitting to how he treats women he won. I guess 55% of the women voting for him were willingly touched.

I’m trying not to dwell too much on it, though that’s been difficult. I have family and friends that will suffer from some of the changes should they happen, like losing their healthcare, going after minimum wage, gay marriage, etc. But hey, it’s what the country wants, and that’s what the country gets right? Yes, this will hurt a lot of people, but I can see this backfiring quite easily. And when it does I’ll be smiling a yuge smile.

I’ll just sit back and watch the inevitable shitstorm unfold since really there is nothing else to do. Protesting won’t get anything accomplished and states threatening to leave are foolish. I would, however like to put myself up for adoption to either go to Canada or Norway. 😛 Hell, people seem to think I’m from another country anyway. 😛

It’s already looking pretty entertaining isn’t it? Trump is giving his kids positions in his cabinet, and the rest of his choices are looking like something that would belong on a reality show. Hell I’m surprised we’re not turning this into one. Heck, you could call it “The Apprentice: White House Edition”. Which is kinda funny if you think about it, as Trump in this case is literally an Apprentice, having to learn the ropes of his new role. I wonder how he’ll handle a position where he can’t fire people?

I think I need to drown my depression in games again. Maybe at lunch I’ll play some Bioshock Infinite, it might prepare me for the next 4 years. 😛
