Got a full refund on the motherboard, and the replacement I ordered from another store has been tested. Appears to be in working order. 😀 Which is great because I can’t wait to frisbee this friggin’ mobo.
A McDonalds Employee making $21 an hour?
Well, at least in Denmark. Also the teenagers over there start out at $15 an hour.
I work for McDonald’s and I make $21 an hour.
No, that isn’t a typo. It’s really my salary.
You see, I work for McDonald’s in Denmark, where an agreement between our union and the company guarantees that workers older than 18 are paid at least $21 an hour. Employees younger than 18 make at least $15 — meaning teenagers working at McDonald’s in Denmark make more than two times what many adults in America earn working at the Golden Arches.
So they’re being paid a living wage AND McDonalds is still in business? Color me fucking shocked! The local McDonalds here is practically a retirement home. There are literally more elderly folks working there than teenagers. I wonder how many of them read that article…
I’ll be sure to tell people about it though. Hell, I had one customer today tell me about a friend of his from a different store in another town and how they have special benefits and such. He instantly assumed that I would have the same and seemed shocked when I told him that was a union store. He said “You shouldn’t have to rely on a union to get better pay and benefits”. I just don’t understand… People seem to make the constant mistake of thinking a company will look out for it’s employees. Now, there are some companies that DO in fact take care of their employees. However, those are few and far between.
People can say what they want about a union. I’d love to have a fixed set of hours that don’t change or don’t drop. Seems like less of a pain compared to understaffing, cutting back, then calling people in at the last minute to try and cover a job because they were too busy understaffing and cutting back. Well… if you’re not a big CEO type. I’m sure I heard their teeth chattering when I mentioned teenagers in Denmark making more money than most Americans. 😛
Bacon: Is it a dessert?
Another conversation I decided to animate. Bongmaster (Monoculus) forgot to get the ice cream. Claims bacon is a dessert.

I made sure my mom had a great mothers day. We all chipped in on making dinner which was steak, lobster, fries (chips) and peas with bacon. Then last night we had a late celebration of my birthday by going out to eat at the local bar. Other than enjoying the nice weather it’s been business as usual. I went through and cleared some more footage, bought some more tea, hung out with friends and recorded some audio yadaydayada.
Made up a bento box of sushi and some green tea for work tomorrow. I made them into perfect circles 😀 Unfortunately the seaweed didn’t wrap around it correctly due to too much filling I guess. Oh well, I can always try again tomorrow night.
Weekend Part 2
Lets see. Pre Mothers Day was full of stupid people who forgot they had a Mom… One lady asked me if an Online Exclusive offer meant they had to buy it online, another asking me what 50% off of $50 was, and then I had a weird couple that I think tried to bump uglies in a fitting room. The guy got mad when I told him it was just one person per room and tried to record me with his smartphone which didn’t work too well.
If he was trying to capture my face to find me on facebook he’s going to be rather depressed that I’m not on there. 😛
Yay videos!
I finally uploaded stuff! First one is DG and I goofing off:
Then here I am reviewing a map for TF2 called pl_pier:
There is no excuse for any of this crap.
Well, my video card returned to my doorstep with a bent backplate. It seems MSI’s idea of packaging an item is to just put it in shielded wrapping and pop it in a box to flop around. Even if it does work I’m going to complain to them. There is no excuse to package an item that poorly. It’s like people don’t care anymore.
If that wasn’t bad enough my motherboard arrived. Good news was that they did a great job packaging it, they included everything and I mean EVERYTHING. It all seemed so promising until I found over 11 pins bent in the processor socket. The seller claimed that it had “light socket damage” but mentioned nothing about the socket pins being damaged. I contacted the seller and complained about it. He told me that it was in perfect working condition, so I decided to test it for shits and giggles and sure enough he was right… But only if you used memory in the first triple-channel bank. Once you loaded both triple-channel banks I got 128 errors within the first five minutes of running memtest86.
Turns out he didn’t fully test each slot to see if it would pass. I’ll be sending the mobo back tomorrow since they don’t have another motherboard I could use. I’ve ordered a replacement from somewhere else. Hopefully I have better luck with this one. It should arrive sometime next week alongside my SSD.
On the brightside my Xeon processor arrived and it’s working with flying colors. Now if everything else could come together…
I’m pretty sure I had something to post…
But then wordpress ate it. I have to go get some shuteye for work… So I guess I’ll have to write stuff later.
