Early Morning Open Thread

Tonight I came home to some delicious fall off the bone ribs, baked potato and corn. It was good foods to fill me up after a butt fucked up the dick day of hell. Also rejuvenated a bit by making some matcha in both the traditional way and in the form of a latte. I also brewed some Jasmine Green flowering tea for tomorrows work adventures.

I also generated some new nav meshes for TF2 and added them to the server for some fun tomorrow. Though I’m planning to check out the new stuff in CS:GO tomorrow too after work (or maybe during if I can update everything on the laptop before then). 😀

One of those days I guess…

It’s been busier than fuck again today, and once again I got left alone upstairs to do EVERYTHING while everyone else went to lunch… Of course I’m on mine now and at least two people are upstairs right now.

On another note I just had a strange occurrence. There was this guy (I think he was homeless) sitting at a table babbling to himself about how technology is controlling people and Jesus is the only way, and that some woman he knows is way too smart and knows too much about the law. Then as I’m eating my lunch he walks over to me and asks if my life would be better if he joined me at the table. I smiled and said no it would not. Then he proceeded to randomly pick up wrappers off the floor and then proceeded to shove them down his shorts.

Sounds like a sound person amirite?

Stupid Criminal Of The Day

This goes under the category of “You Can’t Make This Shut Up”

The next time you’re faced with a would-be robber demanding cash, perhaps try to negotiate a more convenient time for a robbery. A restaurant in the Chicago area pulled that move when two men allegedly tried to hold up the business. Instead of handing over cash, police say the proprietor just told them to come back in an hour. Aaaaaaand they did.

All I have to say is $75 for a fucking 2.5 GB USB drive from the early 00’s?!?!?!?!

These two items jumped right out at me. $79 for a 2.5 gb portable hard drive when I can get 8 gb USB thumb drives for $12?!? And the “320 glorious gigabytes” cracks me up.

Of course this has been a common thing for awhile. Even where I work (you could call it a Wal-Mart clone) there is stale technology being sold. The best GPU that we sell only has 512 mb of RAM, and the wireless Logitech mice cost more than ordering from somewhere online. Stuff like this is just depressing. I remember back in the 90’s you could walk in and get whatever you wanted. RAM, GPU, CPU, Mobo etc for new top of the line technology with good sales. Now it seems what was left over from that period has been left to rot on the shelves. Even though they know that you can get better deals online they could give a flying fuck. Not everyone around here has an internet connection, so why not vacuum up as much funds as possible?

For fucks sake I was looking at their dusty PC games section and found The Orange Box is still being sold for $25, and on Steam you can get it for $19.99 if you don’t want to wait for a sale. When I was growing up I bought games all the time. Then when the consoles came along I noticed PC games were getting harder and harder to find. If I was lucky enough to find a title it was usually overpriced. Orange Box was my last retail purchase to be made. Everything else has been done digitally. I tend to feel bad about spending so much online, but then I remember that I don’t really purchase much within town anymore. Mostly because they never carry anything that I want and don’t even pay me enough to consider it.

At work right now we have an assload of widesscreen TV’s that are having a hard time being sold. Why? No one can afford them even with the special sales. Not even employees with special discounts can afford to purchase them. They’ve even asked us to buy some going “Come on! Upgrade your TV!” Well, upgrade my paycheck and we’ll talk. As it is I only watch TV for a select few things, and even then if I were to give up on TV completely I could find the shows I like online.

Just minding my own business.

I decided to tidy up a small bit today (was in one of those moods), and I did make it to the bank. The rest was a nice leisurely day of sunlight… and gmod. Had a small get together on my sandbox server and we all dressed as homestuck characters. The server for that is alive and well. I see that there’s a convar for adding a website to show in the background of the loading page… I’ll have to think that one over. 🙂

Oh, and I worked on one of my video projects. I don’t have much to say about the contents, but I’m sure everyone will get a laugh. On another note I’ve been extracting HDR maps from gmod workshop files for SFM. Yes, I’m a dirty hax.

Early Morning Open Thread

My Ramen bowls arrived the other day, and so for dinner tonight I decided to make a beefy ramen bowl with some kimchi and spring onion. For those who have never seen a real ramen bowl, they’re rather large. next time I make some I’ll take a snapshot. I would have done so tonight but my hunger made me spring forth onto the dish like a hungry demonic entity.

On another note I decided to compress my maps and sounds for TF2 into bzip2 format for easier download. So to any of my friends who frequent the TF2 server you’ll have an easier download.

Think I’ll rest up and contemplate what my adventures for my weekend will be.

My Friday finally arrives. The good news is that for the next couple of weeks I’ll have a regular 40 hour 5 day work week schedule with the same days off. I might be able to plan things! I think my first order of business will be sleeping in on at least all days off. I do need to head to the bank though to make a withdrawal.

Work was less brutal last night. I actually got some stuff organized and looking good.

Hopefully it’ll be a quiet monday.
