Alright, the review is here folks.
Headphone review: Audio Technica’s ATH-AD700
With the cable for my Creative Fatal1ty dying out after years of abuse I have decided to look into a professional set of headphones to game with. So I present to you the ATH-AD700.
Yes, they’re girly looking… Get over it. These headphones are extremely light. Aluminum based with a honeycomb design so that your ears can breathe. If you have a very small head though you might have issues wearing them. I happen to have a large noggin and they happen to fit quite perfectly.
These do not keep sound in. If you are purchasing these for an mp3 player or plan on using them on your laptop in public other people will hear you. These are designed for studios or home recording. So if you’re trying to watch porn with the volume turned up your wife will hear it on the other side of the room with excellence.
Another thing people complained about was the lack of bass, which for a moment I thought I was going to be stuck with. I listened to YouTube which sounded rather flat, but that’s to be expected. YouTube audio sucks. I decided to play with my audio settings on my Creative XFi Elite Pro and got a decent amount of bass. It’s not the headphones that suck, it’s your sound system. Stop using onboard audio for fucks sake. It DOES make a difference.
They average around $100 to $130, and can be connected directly to your soundcard without any extra attachments. Although it does come with an adapter in case you want to plug in directly with your equipment for other things (which I happen to be using in my XFi Breakout Box).
These get the Overlord’s seal of approval. They are indeed nice cans…. and headphones. Giggity.
CS:GO Protip’s
Valve and CounterStrike pros have decided to help the CS:GO community by providing tips on how to better your competitive play. Here is a first short episode:
Korean Slackers in Civ5 Tram!
I recently downloaded the new Civilization and Scenario Pack: Korean and Wonders of the Ancient World for Civilization 5 on Steam, and had lots of fun so far! First, I whooped the Wonders of the Ancient World’s butt, then I moved on to the Korean Scenario, which was considerably more difficult. After trying it a few times as China, I figured out that bum rushing a few boats out to attack the incoming Japanese was the way to go. I was able to eliminate several boats and save one Korean city from being taken over by the incoming Japanese, which was totally great!
After winning the Korean Scenario in less than 100 turns and earning the Seoul Power achievement, I decided to try my hand as Sejong, leader of the Korean civilization. Just for fun, I named all of my cities after meh Slackin’ friends! Wheeees! There’s fibawland, Badlands, Bongoland, LunaLandingTram, Adam’s Apple, and, of course, at the center of it all is the House of Tomala! I even had 71 smiley faces – Yays!
As you can see, I really enjoyed the Korean upgrades, and it would be a fine addition to anyone’s Civ collection tram!!!!
Haz all the funz out there tram!!!!! Yays!!!
Early Morning Open Thread
Had some fun tonight. Met up with a new friend in CS:GO, another friend from my list joined up on the opposing team and eventually left. Either they got tired of getting their ass kicked, or they discovered they weren’t on a valve server and left. Either way gameplay was fun. I also checked out the newest survival maps. Those were pretty cool.
Then some of us Slackers got into TF2 for awhile and had a good time. Yutram even got another hat which pissed off Ivan (he’s been playing for a few years now and never got one as a drop). Clearly we’ve been sleeping with Gabe. 😛

Now that I think about it… Messenger bags have to be the new man purse (or murse).
Food Food Food Food Food Food
Started off with my new eating plans today by bringing in some green loose leaf tea and a cranberry nut bar. Tonight when I got home I then had 3 slices of pizza plus one dessert pizza. Not bad considering those are the only things I ate today. My final bit of food for the night is some more green tea and a homemade yakisoba bowl that I made myself. I would have had that mainly for dinner tonight but wasn’t expecting homemade pizza to come home to. I always at least try to do something Asian themed on a Saturday. It’s always my Super Sentai Saturday anime night where we gather around the TV and watch Toonami for a bit (mostly new Bleach episodes). Great anime to watch btw.
I get to bring a lunch to work tomorrow. I think I’ll bring some pizza. On a non food related note I do plan on having a bit of a TF2 marathon sometime after work. So if anyone sees me in TF2 go ahead and join up.
Saturday Morning Open Thread
Everything was cool last night. Work went well, there was Chinese takeout when I got home, I made raspberry custard for dessert, and I kicked ass in TF2. I also picked out all of the clothes for the week. I think I might have to cut back on my food consumption though, some things I haven’t worn in a long time have gotten tighter than they should be, it isn’t much but I can notice it. It shouldn’t be that hard to curb, after all I’ve done it before. I just need to plan my snacks and lunches better. Maybe even start bringing brewed tea to work again which I’ve been meaning to anyway.
I’ve already been trying to walk more on my days off when the weather is actually nice (rare these days). And since my new line of work isn’t nearly as strenuous as my previous jobs I may have to look into a personal exercise plan. I’ve been meaning to buy a new bike all year but the weather just hasn’t been good enough ride in as constantly as I used to.
