Ettetram B-Day & Tour de Underpants Invite!

You are warmly welcomed to two very special SNews events! The first is Ettetram’s birthday, which will be an all-day event on Thursday! I hope that everyone will join meh in having fun and drinking as much as you can tram!!! I will be having beoef Bourgogne and a nice bordeaux – Yay!!! I have Taylor Fladgate 20 year tawny port as a great aperitif as well!!  So I will have plenty of beverages to report on!

The second event that I want to invite everyone to the start of the Tour de Underpants (France) on Saturday morning (morgen) at 5 am Pacific/8 am Eastern Time for the live coverage from Liege, France! Yes indeed meh hearties, the Champagne cork will popping at 5 am! I can hardly wait for the Le Roule fromage too!! It will be so epic and I will be posting all about it here on SNews!!! This year, I wonder who will win? Will it be Cadel Evans? Bradley Wiggins perhaps? One of the Schleck brothers? Only time will tell tram!  Join me here on SNews for all the fun action!

Since the Tour de Underpants wandered into Italy a few times last year, I recently enjoyed a nice bottle of Gabbiano Chianti with a big plate of semola pasta with pesto sauce, olive oil, and parmesan and romano cheese. It was an epic meal! Gabbiano Chianti can be found in many grocery stores for under $10, and is a nice Chianti at a nice price. Clean, soft cherry fruit forward flavors, nice tangy mid-palate, and clean tannins and nice acidity on the finish without being too powerful. A large enough wine to go with food yet soft enough to drink without food before or after the meal.

Rearranging deck chairs on the blog again…

Ok, decided I didn’t like the last one either, so I’m going to give this one a shot. It seems to behave a lot better. Fluid width, 3 column, and gives me the option of changing the picture on each refresh which I could have fun with. 🙂

I used to hate the two columns being next to each other, but with the stuff I happen to have it might not be that bad of an idea actually…

Day 2 of PYROMANIA!!!!!

Well, today is day 2.

Downtown Teufort: The mighty Manhattan of the Badlands. The Big Gravel. The City That Never Seeps (the slogan of our campaign to let people know we’d started getting a handle on our world-famous sewage problem). Whatever you want to call them, these streets are filled to bursting with opportunity (and, depending on the weather, up to knee-height with sewage).

Maybe you read that article in Tourism Monthly (“Teufort: It is Horrible”) and you’re worried about murder, thievery and tramp attacks. Don’t be! Thanks to our lack of a fire department, they’ve got bigger things to worry about than you: Putting out all those methane fires.

So now we have possibly another map to look forward to, plus more hats and weapons! Also on that page is a picture from the upcoming “Meet The Pyro” short!

PYROMANIA!!!!!

Well folks, if you haven’t been paying attention to TF2 and getting in on the special/not so special item drops you’ve really been missing out! Valve has declared this week to be Pyromania week! According to the official TF2 Blog the final short “Meet The Pyro” is less than three days away! Along with the update they seem to be introducing a new game mode for Team Fortress 2, called Doomsday?

Doomsday pits BLU against RED, with only one team getting the honor of transporting a suitcase nuke full of recalled Mann Co. Australium to American monkeynaut Poopy Joe’s rocket, so he can blast off and hunt down Soviet space chimp Vladimir Bananas. It’s the same spirit of competitive enterprise that stalled the moon landing by three years when Buzz Aldrin suplexed Neil Armstrong into a pile of folding chairs at Astromania ’69! Both teams will attempt to get the necessary fuel up a preposterously slow-moving elevator and into Poopy Joe’s Australium-powered rocket to the stars.

Also, with a new game mode comes new achievements! Let the achievement whoring begin! In the meantime, here’s a countdown clock.

A fun morning of TF2

TF2 server was highly active before playing tonight. Got to play with some cool people who had a good time with us. Even one of the people from my friends list joined in! Of course there were the usual Slackers too. I even got to do the unthinkable and kick the asses of Kaelis and Yutram (with the help of a medic bot). But nevertheless it was fun!

Yep… This still happens at the MOUL forums.

You know, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen any severe moderating over at the MOUL forums, then again they haven’t exactly been the liveliest. This, however was brought to my attention.

http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic. … 687#386687

They were referencing this thread which apparently got deleted, revived, deleted then revived again? Why? I don’t know. All that was mentioned was a slight difference in jumping after the latest update.

Adi wrote:The one about the change in jumping after the latest update. There is a handful of people including myself waiting to reply, and now we can’t. ^^

After reading this I already knew this wasn’t going to end well…

Alien wrote:NOTE TO MODS : Please do not delete this thread or any posts in it, such action will result in me taking the matter higher.
The subject matter is about threads / posts being deleted, and deleting posts or the thread will only aggravate the situation further

First things first. It helps to know how to be an administrator of your home forum before going around telling people what they can do on theirs. Otherwise what can be seen as standing up for someone will actually be seen as the pot calling the kettle black. There are better ways of doing this, but on the MOUL forum every potential way will be incorrect if it references a closed thread. That’s just the way it is unfortunately…

Alien wrote:OK, fair enough, but I’d still like to address the issue of threads and / or posts being deleted with no explanation.
With regards to Christine’s and my threads, we both (and I am sure Christine won’t mind me speaking for her this one time), we both feel they were deleted unfairly. Not getting an explanation just added insult to injury.

All I have to say to this is: Welcome to the official MOUL forums. 🙂

Now a word from the person who was moderated:

Isobel wrote:Yes, it would be nice to receive some notice as to what i said that warranted deletion. If a long time explorer can’t make a criticism without being deleted like this (when i know others share the same concern), it makes me despair for the future of MOULa.

Then semplerfi comes in and basically points out “SSDD”

semplerfi wrote:This is not going to happen and this thread will disappear shortly. There is a Moderator that does not have to follow the forum rules. We have been trying to get this addressed for years around here to no avail. Chogon will say that Cyan lets the mods interpret & enforce the rules as they (mods) see fit. The last time the community tried to get this address we lost great two interns and the moderater is still killing dialog on the forum.
Isobel wrote:And is very close to making a long time explorer (and donater) find somewhere where she is appreciated, but i guess that is no big deal?

At this point I think the Team Fortress 2 section of the Steam forums is far friendlier…

Now coming to a close, we see the thread wasn’t “veralun’d”, rather it was “Mac Attacked”

Mac_Fife wrote:Ok, I’m presuming that the post in question is this one: http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic. … 674#386674

I’ve looked into this and can find no evidence that the post was ever removed. By “removed” I mean “hidden from view” because the moderators don’t delete posts except in very rare circumstances. I can’t see any history on this but as a new thread it may have been merged into a pre-existing, current thread on the same subject (which can cause some links that use thread IDs instead of post IDs to “lose” it) and then moved back, but so far as I can tell it was never anywhere other than where it is now.

No moderator/user logs phpBB2 FTW.

Mac_Fife wrote:Before people start accusing moderators of doing things, it would probably be courteous to PM one of the mods and ask: The forum policies still prohibit public disputation of moderation – see Policy VII – so I’m now going to lock this thread.

Yes, PM the mods and ask them what you may have done wrong. Because they sure as hell aren’t going to be the ones to PM you… Believe me, I learned that from the time I was wrongfully banned from the MOUL forum.

What shall I do…

Well, got off tonight at 9pm and don’t have to be back until Monday afternoon next week. It’s going to be 80% chance of rain tomorrow so I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere… Wonder what I’ll destroy on day 1 of vacation awesome, you know… aside from the internet. That’s just too fun to not break. 😛
