The Mind Of OverlordTomala

Saturday Morning Open Thread

Decided to work a bit on one of my video projects a bit. It’s a bit involved so I wasn’t fully in the mood. Took a break and played some TF2. Met a couple of n00bs on the server. They stuck around with us all the way till we decided to call it quits. All in all it was good fun.

Since the weather has been warming up I’ve started making more iced tea since I have to have my fix of it. Drinking some red pom with honey right now. Also decided to make some sandwich filling for a wrap to bring to work tomorrow. I’ve been getting into the nasty habit of buying whatever drink or snack that happens to be within easy reach, which all in all isn’t the best. So I’m going to plan ahead since I’ve found more time to think clearly. Bring some iced raspberry mate and a nice tuna mayo wrap to work, that should do me fine.

Valve hires a Economy errrrrr, Manconomy expert.

Because I love TF2 so much I figured I would write this up. Cross posted from SNews:

Not fooling. Valve has hired an economist. Yes, a REAL economist.

It was late at night in October of last year when the strange email arrived. In fact, I only read it by accident and did not delete it by some miracle of fate.

Before the Euro Crisis erupted in 2009, I was just another economics professor, minding my own little theoretical endeavours, writing obscure papers and esoteric books that only a few hundred nutcases around the world (like myself) would ever read, terribly satisfied in my very own academic cocoon. Back then, I would never even imagine not answering an incoming email.

Valve seems to be slightly concerned about a possible imbalance in the Mannconomy for Team Fortress 2. Either way this isn’t something you see everyday. Then again this is Valve we’re talking about.

More nerding out.

So instead of playing anything tonight or working on any videos I ended up playing around in dreamweaver with a template for the main site. Much better than before. Trellian was a nice start, but Dreamweaver is more like working with a pen. I like the feel of it better.

I still think the site looks a tad empty, but I’m sure I’ll add more later.
