The Mind Of OverlordTomala

Open Thread

Once again I survived another day of tending to the masses. One of my bosses wanted to see if I could wake up, work a 4 hour shift from 7 am to 11 am, then leave and come back to work from 4 to 9 to work in the bakery. Considering they want me to do this on my Friday that won’t work out. This was one of the rare times I actually had to put my foot down. If they need help as badly as they keep claiming then they should hire another person over there instead of using people like me like a spare tire whenever something comes up. Now don’t get me wrong, I have no problem working over there now. But what they’re asking me to do is not nearly worth what I’m making.

I’m just gonna kick back and read now…

What usually takes me a couple hours to write is turning to days.

This review I’m writing… Oh god, this is going to be huge. It’s like reviewing a fucking movie. It is a goldmine of awesomeness. But being the slacker that I am I ended up having to take a break from it, in TF2… Didn’t win anything but damn was it fun to get some silliness out of the way before bed. Which unfortunately it’s come to that…

Google should buy valve? Hah!

I found this to either be an interesting point of view, or someone trolling on a summer day:

Valve is amazing but it’s too small, Valve needs a big boss to get its back while competing with other powerful game publishers like EA or Microsoft.

And it should be Google, because

1) Google is all about the internet which Steam shares;

2) Digital distribution of PC games is a remarkably potential market, and to my knowledge, Google has not started video game department, while it’s not sufficiently developed if it has. Owning Valve will bring them more and more money and break into the gaming industry with a great hit;

3) GFWL is a great platform which came up before Steam but still not fully developed, BUT we have to admit that GFWL is still very potential because it’s the only existing one which fully realizes the concept of cross-platforms. It’s powered by Microsoft and against Steam, Google is somehow against Microsoft in every field, so Google should get Valve’s back;

4) Since EA is expanding and threatening Valve, Valve needs its own firmly connected partners, relationship like Activision and Blizzard(also 2K and Rockstar) which are owned by one big group. This kind of relationship can not be accomplished by Valve itself for the time being.

Maybe it sounds ridiculous, Valve has been growing in amazing rate last few years and also I don’t think Steam would go down in years but I do think Valve is still not big or complex enough to sufficiently flourish in the future and Valve does need more support.

I agree with this in reverse. I think Valve should buy google. I seriously think it would do better.

I live another day!

Wasn’t a bad day at work. It was real long though. Someone had gone home sick and I ended up taking their place. At least my paycheck will be a little nicer than usual. Nothing exciting to report either. I purchased some work pants to replace some others I had thrown away recently. Might look into more shirts in the future.

Early Morning Open Thread (yes another open thread)

Last night’s rest was like an on and off switch. Randomly woke up, went back to sleep etc etc… At least I don’t feel very groggy. Didn’t really dream about anything though. Between these hour adjustments and warm nights (despite the rain and fog outside) I’ve been finding it hard to sleep properly.

Whelp. Time to go to the hole…
