The Mind Of OverlordTomala

From Grim To Fabu

I’m impressing myself with how quickly I’ve been able to move through this today! I traversed the inevitable sewer section (why is there always a sewer in these action games?) and fought with the Original Karen!

She was an absolute Mother to deal with. I had to fling the suicide bombers that she was flinging at me back while giving her a nice bath. Not my usual idea for a Sunday evening, but hey… at least I didn’t have to pick pieces of vampire colon out of my hair today.

Of course, we made time for our Sunday Tradition: Wandering the Wonderlands of Tiny Tina’s imagination! We’re in the Level 26 region now! As usual we had fun trying different weapons and spells. I’ve upgraded my little Dragon to deal chain lightning damage, among other things. Some of the dungeons were more rough tonight, but we didn’t mind the challenge.

The Longest Journey: My First ScummVM Game!

Newport, Venice

After playing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey the other night I got to thinking about playing the original before getting any further. If you buy this game it will not run properly out of the box – fortunately ScummVM is a thing. I used the version bundled with RetroArch on my Steam Deck with positive results! I just downloaded the game, located the executable and ran it with the ScummVM core, and bewm… I was pointing and clicking at an old adventure that’s new again, to me at least! 😛

April Ryan paints.

The Longest Journey is an old school point and click puzzle game where you play a young woman named April Ryan; who currently resides in Newport, Venice. She’s studying art, and working at a fancy cafe! At least in the waking world… in the land of dreams it’s a whole other adventure.

Imagine Dragon

Out of the massive collection of games I grew up on as a kid, this one was not among them. It wasn’t until a good friend of mine recommended the series to me years later that I decided to pick it up.

I think I’ll file this under my chill games list, kinda like ending the night with a bit of a bedtime story, y’know?

4/20 In The Wonderlands

Today was another successful day of organizing/spring cleaning! I finally have the energy to take on stuff that I haven’t had time to spruce up and it feels nice. I went out earlier and got some of the good shit, since we celebrate 4/20 around these parts. Plus I celebrated with Yutram in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands! So far the weapons have been a lot of fun, and the spells!

Tales From The Overlord’s Desk

Today was a little more work than play. I did some office keeping and organized my paperwork and writing stuff. Got rid of a bunch of paper, pictures and other items that are no longer of any use to me, and as a result I’ve freed up an entire cubbyhole! I figure while I have some time off I can get some extra tidying done.

I’ve been working on one large scene these last few days. One that requires quite a bit of time to look even halfway decent. I probably won’t finish this by the time vacation ends, but I’ll inch myself just a little closer to what feels like a never ending finish line in a sea of imagination.

I still made time for a bit of gaming on my Steam Deck! Continuing my way through Freedom Planet 2 on my Neera save. Just got to the Serpentine boss fight and decided to take a break. The Boss Battles in this game are much more of a challenge than the previous versions – and I’m still getting a handle for Neera’s Ice Staff. I might pick it up again before bed, if I don’t decide to scroll my RSS or Mastodon first.

Zoe of Arcadia

Picked back up on Dreamfall: The Longest Journey! Today I started in Venice, and called it a night when I made my way to the other world. Getting here took me awhile, but I only had to look up help a couple of times – and it mainly had to do with the game UI. The more I play, the more I think I’ll put this on pause and crack open The Longest Journey, since it seems to reference it quite a bit.

I Promise Not All Of My Vacation Will Involve The Yakuza

Made it to Chapter 11 after an accidental Kiwami 2 binge! This series is unlike anything I’ve ever played. It has a serious looking aesthetic, yet it has no problem throwing a Super Sentai Bus at you with its creative writing. Sometimes I go in just to play the minigames.

Originally I was going to get back to work on some animation, but I wasn’t feeling it and it’s always fun wandering the streets of any Yakuza game!

All Play and No Work Makes For One Relaxed Overlord

First day of vacation and it rains! Fortunately, I slept in, read a bit on my tablet in bed, then made an energy packed breakfast and stayed warm with hot green tea and gaming! Did more Sidequesting in Kiwami 2, and even got a little hooked on playing darts and Virtua Fighter. It was a cozy kick back with a controller kind of day.

Have you ever launched a game, just to play the mini-games inside that game? I never intend for it to happen, but sometimes it’s kinda funny to just go about your business and escape into a game within a game.

It was also a Sunday… which means Yutram and I sacrificed some of our time to The Almighty Shader Dragon and continued our adventures in the Wonderlands! Where we went hunting dice, crabs, the undead and redneck goblins. We did do some sidequests, with one leading us to a chest with an interesting bow in it.

On our next playthrough we are looking forward to a slip n slide. Something more adventurers should all look forward to.

Friday Evening Open Thread

I’m not in much of a posting mood tonight, pretty tapped out. But I’ll have plenty of time to make up for it over the next couple of weeks. I’m taking some time off to have a little me time, give my body a break from all the hustle and bustle of daily life and do all kinds of nerd shiiiiiit.
