Motivational Monday: Gifting and DOOM

For another pajama day it was fairly productive. Wrapped some presents and used ALL of my Christmas wrap, which is fine since I’m still waiting on other gifts to wrap to come in the mail. Made tomorrow’s tea and prepped my holiday work garb. Also edited some audio to place into SFM. I probably won’t be touching it for a day or two – tomorrow I’m planning to work on some Holiday SFM imagery. 😀

Rewarded myself by finishing up the first episode of the DOOM 3 Port of the original DOOM! I stopped at E2M2. Hard to believe this game turns 25 this month… I  still remember getting the shareware disc in the mail, back when CD’s were the new thing!

I feel old now… Maybe I should lay down, and play a little more DOOM. :v

Always Something To Do

We’ve only had two days of rain, but it already feels like a weeks worth. Not that it matters much to me… I slept in today, loved an orange cat and bounced between a few games after a good breakfast and some self spa-care. Started out by playing a bit of Alice: Madness Returns in the early afternoon, and managed to complete a couple of levels. It doesn’t support cloud saving, so I’ve decided to make this game exclusive to my Steam Deck. I won’t remove it from my Deck until I finish it, it’ll give me an incentive to continue my journey much sooner rather than later. 😛

Later in the afternoon, I moved over to Dust: An Elysian Tail. I played a bit of it yesterday and got from 72% to 80%! Then today I got from 80% to 97%! Maybe I’ll finish it before the end of the month arrives! I learned a super jump ability that can be used on heavily vented areas. Needless to say I’ve been having fun using it to collect all the treasure in previous areas. I just need to do a sweep of a couple more and then I’ll return to the main plot.

Then as evening drew near, and we had full bellies to power us, we played a session of Borderlands 3 and furthered the storyline along quite a bit. Unfortunately we lost a valuable NPC due to a couple of narcissists, such is life in Space Texas.

Now that I’ve explored a few alternate realities, maybe I’ll be able to have enough energy to do something productive tomorrow! I have a lot planned ahead of me, gift prep, gift shopping, some audio and SFM stuff. Today was a nice day for recharging. 😀

My Evening Was DOOMed

How low can you go?

Tonight was fun. I did some SFM camera work, a couple of us recorded voice lines, and then I played a bit of old school DOOM to call it a night. I’m most of the way through Episode 1. I’m playing the DOOM 3 version for the hell of it. It gives me an excuse to do a little achievement hunting. 😛

Evening Open Thread

There probably won’t be much in the way of content next month, other than a couple small gameplay videos. I’ve mainly been focusing between two different SFM projects, so far they’re both tied for the lead. We were going to do some audio recording for the ending of a Tetris video tonight, but ran out of time. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow… I did at least get some animation taken care of on Operation Podcamp (not the actual title). It’s finally starting to look like a proper camping scene, well… such as it is. If I have time I’ll probably toil away at it a bit more tomorrow.

Open Thread!

Truly The Year Of Indies

This year has been a good one for supporting Indie Developers. I’ve purchased Whisker Squadron Survivor, Gal Guardians, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Lost Ember, Ultra Kill, Trinity Fusion, and Ex-Zodiac! All great contenders for both PC and Steam Deck. I spent tonight tweaking my Ex-Zodiac Steam Controller config. I enabled mouse aim in game and set the right touch-pad as mouse, and made sure to enable gyro. It feels perfect!

Ex-Zodiac is very Star Fox like. You’re a pilot named Kyuu, embarking on a journey across the Sanzaru Star System to save its planets. Each planet houses an enemy of the terrorist organization ZODIAC, and it’s up to you to destroy every last one of them… or explode trying. 😛

I never had a chance to enjoy Star Fox properly, mostly due to not having a SNES or Nintendo console. So it’s nice to see the genre branching out, if Nintendo doesn’t want my money then I’m more than happy to support indies with their own inspired visions. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something similar.

The Black Labyrinth Awaits

I ascended the tower on the dark coast of the AMID EVIL Black Labyrinth DLC. I always marvel at the thought put into the level design, it’s on par or exceeds the base game in terms of creativity.

The optional Ray Tracing features also render nicely without taking much of a punch to my framerate. Makes for a lovely fighting arena. 🙂

Survived the first boss battle! The Storm Spirit! I slain the dragon with my scythe, planets and other weapons I had at my disposal. It was fun being picked up by the Dragon and getting tossed into the air, it makes me wonder what the other boss(es) will be like.

The scenery has a habit of catching you off guard if you’re not careful. I was surprised by the giant swords that pelted the outside walls of the labyrinth. They were not my enemy though, they assisted me in getting further through my journey. Now I’m at a nice safe location for when I decide to pick up next. 🙂
