It’s been a hot minute since I’ve last looked into any Campaigns for classic Left 4 Dead. I happened upon one called Deathcraft, which takes place in the Minecraft universe. We had a good time playing, and even managed to get some good footage to share later!
Out Of Early Access & Into The Frey
Whisker Squadron Survivor recently left Early Access, and it’s been awhile since I’ve checked in so I figured why not take a break from metroidvania-ing and start a new save slot? This game has changed so much since I first laid eyes on the demo several nextfests ago. They added voice acting into the game, and while the voices sound good the audio quality sounds like it needs to be a bit tuned more to fit into the environment. One thing I don’t like, and they took it away awhile ago is the ability to rotate sideways and have made it a full blown barrel roll/parry mechanic. It would have also been nice if they added more of an array of worlds to fly through, instead of just the three main three (not counting the secret levels only accessible via portals).
Other than that I still managed to have a good time. I’ll wait awhile to see if there are anymore updates to the game, but I’ll probably do a rewrite of my Early Access review when the time comes.
From Ecclesia to Sorrow
I still have Castlevania on the brainia. This time swapping over to Aria of Sorrow, where I found some new enemies, and even defeated another boss.
I defeated Legion, who looks suspiciously like the Moon from Majora’s Mask trying to sleep off a hangover. It took awhile to take down. The arena is circular, so I would just lure it from one area to another and either stab at it or use magic to chip away at it. This was probably the easiest boss in the game, the only thing I truly had to conquer was patience.
Now I’m leaving off before I force myself to do a parody of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”. It’s one of those “early to bed. early to rise” nights, but it was a nice little escape.
If They Build It, I Will Buy It
I remember when the Nintendo DS came out I thought it was a weird upgrade compared to the GBA. The dual screens it had made little sense to me, and while I never owned one the idea seemed distracting. But now that I’m playing the Castlevania Dominus Collection I can actually see where it would be beneficial, especially since I run a dual monitor setup on my main PC.
It would be pretty cool if the Steam Deck had an option for adding a second screen through the USB-C port. Yes, there are unofficial hacks that toy with the idea, but if Valve or some company started making them I would totally consider it.
Bonus if it doubles as a Power Bank.
Bouncing Between Old & New
Finished Chapter 2 in Celeste tonight. I finally managed to outrun myselves, and even befriended a climber.
His name is Theo. He hails from the far, far away lands of Seattle. He’s a pretty chill dude. I talked with him for awhile before venturing off towards a hotel that probably doesn’t get any 5 star reviews, let alone two star.
Demonic mold, worm like mold spores. cobwebs and walls with spikes on them. This hotel has no such thing as wheelchair accessibility, walking accessibility… or really, anything accessibility.
This was where I decided to take a break. I wanted to play a game tonight that would convince me to take a break and do something productive; like close caption one of many videos that will be debuting. They’re all short, but it does take some time to go through and type them out, even with assistance provided by YouTube. I figure if I caption at least one video a night I should be good.
As a small aside I finally finished Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, or at least the Juste playthrough (still need to go back and play as Maxim). Wonder if I can complete Aria of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon this year… either way, that’s two more Castlevania games down!
Monday Night Unwindening
We had a surprise sunny day, for at least half of it. The clouds came in and took over, but it was nice to get a tiny bit of sun. I worked through over 3 hours of Palworld footage and worked it into two small videos, and also did some photoshopping in Krita. Now I’m winding down for the evening, enjoying a good candle, some tea, and a bit of Steam Deck.
I finished playing a bit of Alice: Madness Returns, and I might go over to a Castlevania game. Something about foggy/rainy weather just makes these games better somehow.
Lara Be Hawt
It’s another rainy weekend at House Overlord. Perfect for making a healthy breakfast, drinking an endless supply of warm drinks, and temporarily escaping a chaotic world via digital time travel to the mid/late 90’s. The addition of Photo Mode really makes Lara shine in a new light.
I know. I COULD be playing the newer remaster, but having it release reminded me that I still have achievements/trophies to hunt. That, and I remember this being one of the many old school games I would play in cold rainy weather way back when…
The Unholy Trinity Reunites
Spent today sifting through more Resonite footage, only have another 400 GB worth to go through… Afterwards I was inspired to play a little with friends tonight. It’s been awhile since we’ve all logged in. We got to play our favorite game of “What did I set as a password?”. Once we got in we saw more potential for fun worlds, and more video fodder for me. 😛 I managed to get a few videos put together today, which is nice since I haven’t been doing much video work these last couple of weeks. I’ll be good on video releases for at least another month. 😀
