Small Doses of Joy

During work nights I’ve pretty much been saving my game time for the very end of it, and it’s been on a big screen TV. My poor desktop and Steam Deck are almost as neglected as the poor gaming laptop. Heck, I even took my Steam Deck to work today and was so enthralled in reading the entire world that I forgot to play for awhile. Tonight will be no different.

Last night I wandered the Forbidden West. The night before I played The N. Sane Trilogy. I even checked out one I haven’t played before called Gun Grave G.O.R.E, it was refreshingly different. Before that I willed myself into finishing the first level of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on nightmare, ragequit Darksiders 3, went a couple rounds in Hades and returned to Squirrel with a Gun to unlock a yellow dress for my squirrel-sona so that I may frolic in digital grass amongst my NPC victims.

My game time has been more brief than what I’d prefer, but when I make the time I make sure to pick some fun bangers! 😀

Hmmm…. wonder what I’ll play tonight.

It’s All Fun n’ Games Until Someone Compromises Your System

I remember back in ye olde 1990’s we had viruses that weren’t just terrifying, they could also be funny. While reading through some cyber security articles tonight I tripped across an unrelated bit of protestware referenced in this article:

The findings coincide with an unrelated campaign that has flooded npm with 28 packages containing protestware functionality that can disable mouse-based interaction on websites with a Russian or Belarusian domain. They are also engineered to play the Ukrainian national anthem on a loop.

I have to give credit where credit is due. That is hilarious malware. 😀

Foggy Open Thread

Today felt more like autumn than summer. The fog engulfed the whole town, and inspired me to sit on the couch to play the weekend away. I also made spaghetti and meatballs with a homemade sauce, so I still managed to be somewhat productive. 😛

Think I’ll end the evening by having a relaxing private spa session, and maybe a little more couch gaming if time permits. It’s a good idea to be good to yourself whenever you can, there are plenty of people out there that don’t believe it is time deserved.

Best to have a good evening just to spite them.

Sailing High To Avoid Being Low

Worked on a Resonite video today. I’ll probably have it ready for export tomorrow night, then I’ll add it to the video queue I’m slowly rebuilding. This one took me awhile due to the size – this session was almost five hours long! It’s been edited down to a little over four minutes, but I expect it to shrink even further.

Short Thursday Evening Open Thread

Didn’t have time to do much tonight. Winding down by playing a bit of AudioSurf 2! Hard to believe that I haven’t ridden my music in a couple of years, last time I played it was in August of 2023. Chilling to some music and enjoying my new headphones sounded like a cool way to spend the remainder of my evening. I’ll have more time tomorrow to tackle things, even getting off earlier in the day.

Children Growing Up, Old Friends Growing Older

The sun was shining. Friends of the past visited for our yearly outing at one of the local beaches where we had hot dogs and burgers in a secluded location. When night fell we made a bonfire that could be seen from space. Fireworks were lit, intermingling with the view of the stars, and a couple of us ran with sparklers in hand. Then midnight came, the witching hour. I ran too close to the ocean and a wave caught me by surprise… and then the alarm went off. I was in bed, it was only a dream of better times.

I stretched and rubbed the sleep from my eye, and recalled the dream that felt all too real. It was more like a flashback, if anything. Slowly remembering the people I saw, who have either moved away or passed on, and trying to fight the urge to close my eyes to try and chase what will never happen again.

I hate getting old.
