Quake II 64, But Better

We decided to check out the Quake 64 Expansion in Quake II, it was interesting. The level layouts differ quite a bit compared to the PC original, mostly due to the limitations on the N64’s hardware. The levels were mostly indoor, from what we played. I’m glad they released this version to play on PC! While I prefer the original design the N54’s was still fun in its own way. We’re about halfway through the campaign, and we’ll have to play through it again to find the secrets we missed.

Blood & Bath Salts

Last week we barely dipped our toes into the Bounty of Blood DLC. Tonight we spent a few hours of destruction, and a random spa visit? So far we’re still liking the DLC. I hear it leaves off on a cliffhanger, so I’m making sure to savor it when its good.

The in game Bath House helped me get in the mood for a good shower tonight! Now I’m chilling and preparing my weekend getaway shopping list. I haven’t decided yet what the weekend breakfast will be, but with each passing week it feels like they become rich delicacies… not because of the recipes themselves, but because eggs keep getting more and more fucking expensive, and produce to shortly follow.

May everyone have the day they voted for.

Stepping Into A Good Portrait

The last time I played Portrait of Ruin was back in December It was during a rainy lunch break, and I was just starting to learn the controls. I figured since I’ve been making progress on the rest of the Dominus Collection that I should take a stab at this one tonight. So far I’ve learned a couple new abilities and killed a boss.

Unlike the other two in the trilogy, Portrait of Ruin lets you swap between two characters with their own unique set of abilities. Jonathan is your average vampire hunter, while Charlotte practices magic. I kind of wish this game could be played in co-op given you can choose two characters. I guess it makes sense given this was originally made for a handheld… but I can dream!

Evening Open Thread

Managed to put a couple more videos together over the last couple of days, so… one video a day? I’ll take it. Other than that I survived another day in what could better be described as hell, with tea and hobbies helping to keep me half sane. Decided to bring a pistacio pu’erh tea to work today…

I’m thinking tomorrow will be a Watermelon Oolong day, and finish off the evening with one of my chamomile blends to help take the edge off the pu’erh.

Hell Hath No Fury Like Fury

The more I play Darksiders 3 the more it feels like a souls like, an easier-ish one that will still leave you getting your ass kicked. But tonight I made some good progress. Obtained some new powers and perks.

Obtained the Storm Hollow ability, which gives me a lance imbued with lightning. This also grants me the ability to hover in tiny hurricane looking areas that I saw early on in the game. I’ve already begun backtracking, only to find more to make me stronger! I’ve decided to take a small break for now. Might play a little more on the TV before calling it a night.

BATHE IN THE MEAT CHUNKS

We finished up another DLC in Borderlands 3. So far the DLC’s seem a lot more fun than the base game itself. The Handsome Jackpot is easily my fave, but Krieg’s DLC had us laughing despite the mixed reviews this DLC has amassed. I liked the character dialogue, it was interesting to see the differences between both Psycho and Sane Krieg. The level design was an absolute fever dream; most of it was unpredictable. If I had anything to complain about it would probably be the end boss battle, and it’s also a pretty short DLC.

For the most part though, we did have a good time in absolute chaos.

Mastering The Art Of Enduring Clunky Gameplay

This is the farthest I have ever made it in AOD. Maybe there’s hope to finishing this game yet, though it’s too soon to say. Despite the amount of clunk in the trunk I managed to get sucked into this universe for the remainder of my evening. If there’s anything good to say though is that we at least have Photo Mode, and Krita. The Photo Mode included is basic compared to other games that offer it. Fortunately there are programs like Krita and Gimp that can help fill in that gap.
