Kiss My Asgard

Channeled a bit of my inner Gun-Toting Valkyrie in BPM: Bullets Per Minute tonight! I haven’t played it in almost half a year, and surprisingly I had my longest run yet!

In case you never heard of it before; BPM: Bullets Per Minute is an FPS Roguelike where you battle your way through randomly generated paths on each run to the rhythm of music, obtaining coin, health and power-ups along the way with the occasional boss battle and challenge at the end of each level. Tonight was the furthest I made it tonight! Not bad for not playing for almost half a year. I passed Asgard,  Vanaheim, and Svartalfheim and eventually getting beaten to death in Helheim. That said, it did get me some new achievements!

Normally I can only seem to get out of Asgard II before inevitably dying, but tonight I managed to get a good selection of stats. I’ll have to see if I can beat the game sometime between now and six months into the future!

Adventures in Asgard

Had fun with infinite dying in BPM: Bullets Per Minute! It becomes more and more interesting each time you come back to life. I lol’d when I found Space Asgard. It was a great way to blast out a day’s worth of stress and hypertension… I’m glad tomorrow’s my Friday.

Trading JRPGS for Indies

I guess I didn’t have much energy to post yesterday… I blame NieR’s musical score for lulling me to sleep. I did wake up this morning with some fine energy, made a good breakfast and did a few things around the house. Oh, and of course there was some 4K gaming shenanigans. 😛 But I gave the Japanese RPG games a rest, and focused on playing some Unreal Engine Indie Games like Overload, and BPM: Bullets Per Minute.

I still suck at it, but I did at least get an achievement for getting out of the first two levels! It’s an FPS Roguelike where you can only shoot to the beat of the music, all the while traversing a dungeon that changes each time you die, which makes the gameplay much less stale at least.

On this particular playthough I happened to find a bank! Handy for stashing extra coinage when I don’t have a use for it. As an added bonus if you find the bank again after you die you’ll be able to retrieve your coins. That came in handy this evening for buying some pricey powerups that can’t easily be obtained within one dungeon romp. As much as I keep dying it’s oddly addicting to play.

Trying A Few New Games

My first day off is usually spent as a decompression day for proper recharge. I even tried a few games I got as gifts over the holidays. I played a bit of BPM: Bullets Per Minute, an indie game where you have to shoot to the beat of the music (fun and challenging), The Wonderful 101 Featuring Fun Grade A Platinum Campiness, and Borderlands 3 with Yutram.

So far it feels like Borderlands 2 but with a slightly more modern interface, and you can climb much like you can in the newer DOOM games. We both had a good time, despite coming into contact with Claptrap and Vaughn… ugh.

Regardless I think I’ll have enough energy to get some things worked out tomorrow, assuming that I’m feeling well enough to do any moving around tomorrow. I’ve been fighting pain all throughout the day, but at least the motion sickness has subsided.
