You Got Mint Chocolate On My Chicken

As I was making my way through my RSS feed this morning to make my lunch break slightly entertaining — I happened upon this article about a new sauce at KFC South Korea that can only be obtained if you order it online.

But is it worth it?

The article is an interesting read. If I could afford to travel the world I’d love to try not just what each country had to offer as traditional cuisine, but also experience places like KFC, and even McDonalds JUST to taste their own style of Murican’ cuisine!

Curry In My Favour

Curried Rice with Moroccan seasoned chicken sounded good tonight. It warmed up the house and made for a pleasant aroma. I bought some chicken tenders and pretty much just used different seasonings, there was no recipe followed here it just tasted really good. I’ve also been looking up recipes for the weekend, planning to do some more Asian shenanigans to fuel that nerd energy. I’m thinking either Japanese or Chinese.

Using My Noodle(s)

I felt like doing Italian tonight. I made a chicken pasta with a tomato mushroom pasta sauce, a three color salad made of mozzerella, tomato and basil, and some corn. I was inspired by a recipe, but couldn’t find proper ingredients so turned it into my own thang. For the sauce I used:

  • 1lb can of diced Tomato with juice
  • Pint Of Baby Portabello Shrooms
  • 2 boneless chopped Chicken Bewbs
  • 2 Tbsp Italian Flat Leaf Parsley
  • 1 grated Carrot
  • 1 chopped Serrano pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Vietnamese Garlic Chili Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

I browned the chicken in one pan, and I placed the entire can of tomatoes and their juice, added the serrano, carrot, garlic, sauce, mushrooms and parsley and seasoned it with salt and pepper. After I finished browning the chicken I placed it in the sauce and let it simmer for about an hour with the frequent stir. You can actually eat it after half an hour, but waiting longer does make it more tender. It hit the spot! Plus I have more for later.

Holy Shit I Made Dinner

I pretty much lived in the kitchen today after coming home from work… There were plenty of dishes to do, leftovers to be eaten, and dinner to be made. I made a balsamic vinaigrette to top over some greens, tomatoes, feta and walnuts. The feta doesn’t stop at the salad either…

I made this recipe for feta cheese stuffed chicken breasts and they turned out excellent. I used smoked sundried tomatoes for another element of flavor, if you’ve never had smoked sundried tomatoes it’s basically tomato bacon. I oven roasted some red potatoes with garlic and Italian herbs. I think I’ll have to remember the chicken recipe, it’s really good!

Anyone else wanna share some food stuffs?

Your Food Porn For The Evening

I pitched in for dinner this evening. Took a couple chicken breasts, sliced them thin, and combined them with some prosciutto and gouda. Then I ran out of gouda and prosciutto and substituted swiss and regular ham as an alternative. It kind of reminds me of Chicken Cordon Bleu. I might have to make a sauce to accompany it next time, but the addition of the ham and prosciutto and cheeses gave the chicken a nice flavor palate. I also cooked up some fresh green beans and made some buttery mashed garlic potatoes. I think we finally have enough leftovers that I won’t have to worry about food for the next few days.

Think I’m feeling the itis now, time to coma.

From The Creator of Breakfast Curry: Lunch Curry

I had a bunch of extra vegetables around, and was still in a curry kind of mood today. When lunch came around I sacrificed one of my chicken breasts for a green chicken curry with rice noodles. I made it mild, stomach hasn’t been nice to me today. Fortunately I also made the breakfast curry mild too. 😛 I’ve also been living on chai today. Started the morning off with a Canadian Maple Chai, and ended the day with some Rooibos Chai. I already have breakfast curry packed up for tomorrow morning along with some grapes, crackers and peanut butter dip. That should keep me plenty fueled tomorrow morning, even the tea has caffeine. I’m Ret 2 Go.

I’m thinking of taking the other chicken breasts and using them in a baked chicken recipe, involving some gouda cheese and prosciutto.

Evening Open Thread: Food Edition!

Tried a different cooking technique this evening. I marinaded some chicken breasts in a sake marinade, then I cooked them in a Chinese bamboo steamer. Turned out extremely moist and I served rice and green beans on the side. I’ll need to use the steamer more often for other dishes, the breasts were done in about 15 minutes and I didn’t have any additional fats added to the meal. Just the marinade and the taste of the chicken itself.

I’m already plotting dinner for tomorrow night too. Last night I did Tom Yum Gai which is basically a Thai hot and sour soup, tonight was Japanese inspired even though the bamboo basket is Chinese.  Then for tomorrow I’m thinking Hungarian steak and paprika potatoes.

Anyways, open thread!
