Once again I’ve completed the first DOOM campaign, always a classic to play! I’ll be ready to achievement hunt in the second episode the next time I get to play. I can’t wait to hear what the soundtrack for the second campaign sounds like!
DOOM
Throw Them Horns
Rocked out for a bit in DOOM tonight to the new bangin’ soundtrack they included. Really enjoyed listening to E1M4 (Kitchen Ace). Totally made it worth the replay! I’ve stopped on E1M6 for tonight so that I can rest and do the adulting thing tomorrow. Have an early morning of work, then some more work when I get home with video prep and the like… unless one of my friends drags me into the many worlds of resonite again. That seems to be a reoccurring trend lately.
DOOM’s New OST Is My Fave Part Of The Remaster
I’ve been playing DOOM with the updated soundtrack and it fucking SLAPS.
So far I’ve only listened to E1M1 thru E1M9 and it rocks soooo hard. So far I think I like E1M3 the best, but so far I’ve liked all of them!
Forever DOOMed
Bethesda recently remastered DOOM and DOOM II for modern consoles… which means my Steam copies of the original got a free upgrade! I decided to check it out tonight. While I prefer GZDoom it does look like it has potential. You can load mods, it runs at modern refresh rates and more modern controls. Of course, the most important update obviously has to be the achievements.
From what I can tell not many have checked out the new shiny version of the old school. All the achievements I got tonight are still considered rare, even for the easiest tasks. Maybe that’ll change in time, who knows… I’ll probably install this on Steam Deck at some point for some portable progression.
FLESHLIGHT OF DOOM
Over the decades I’ve seen DOOM run on a plethora of devices that I never envisioned them running on. Stomach bacteria, ATMs, clocks, a thermostat, and many many more devices… but now we have a new contender!… until we get another even crazier device that can run DOOM.
You can now play DOOM on a fucking fleshlight.
YouTuber Aaron Christophel has done quite a few hardware hacks in the past. He previously got Doom running on an electric toothbrush. In a video this week, Christophel showed the 1998 landmark FPS running on the masturbatory aid. He includes a link to where he purchased the device in case any other folks were inclined to perform the same hack. Of course, thatβs the only reason.
The earbuds are a nice touch ngl.
From The Fires Of My Desktop
Had a fun recording session tonight for a future Skyrim vid! I’ll have plenty of audio to go over next time I have time to slice and dice it. Tomorrow I was going to go over some video footage for Borderlands 3 to see if any of it’s worth sharing, and it’ll give me an excuse to check out more of KdenLive’s video editing suite. I played with it a bit yesterday when going over video footage that I inevitably ended up deleting. Shotcut will probably continue to remain on my system, but I figure it also doesn’t hurt to see what KdenLive has to offer – especially given that I’m looking at HDR video editing, and Shotcut currently doesn’t support it while KdenLive does. That’ll be my project for tomorrow. π
Then for my last hour of entertainment for the evening I ended up playing a bit more DOOM 2, and managed to make it through The Circle of Death. I’m thinking after beating DOOM 2 of checking out Sigil and Sigil 2, the unofficial third and fourth episodes of DOOM by John Romero himself. Two days of DOOMING it is enough though, need to think of another distraction for tomorrow night. I know once the 14th of Feb comes around there might be some new shiny vintage Tomb Raider to play, and it’s even verified for Steam Deck!
I Wonder What They’re Talking About
Took some aggression out in DOOM 2 tonight. I went through some footage earlier and found out that it didn’t record correctly, and I had to delete another few hundred gigs…I feel a little better now that I’ve managed to kill some demons. Stopped on Lvl 10 for tonight, and even got an achievement for finding a BFG! Either way, I think I got enough anger out of my system to go to bed.
Thy Time Consumed
I don’t think I ever properly finished Thy Flesh Consumed, but in case I didn’t I can now say that I have! It was brutal playing it on Hurt Me Plenty (to be expected) but I managed, maybe someday I’ll be brave enough to attempt Nightmare Mode. I’d be more likely to tackle DOOM II sooner though. Until then, there are always other plans. π
You Got DOOM in my PORTAL 2!
To celebrate DOOM’s 30th anniversary, we’re playing DOOM in Portal 2!
