From The Lands Of Heavy Metal

Decided to rock out tonight in Brutal Legend. Braved the lair of Metal Spiders and freed Dragon statues from bondage demons. Looks nice in 4K, but the character animations seem to be locked to 60FPS, which makes it a little jarring when the rest of the environment is running at a higher refresh rate. It’s a bit jarring, but it doesn’t seem to have an effect on gameplay.

This time around I’m trying to do a better job of doing a little sight-seeing, for side quests, shrines and other secret swag just waiting to be found. Might consider playing a little more from my Steam Deck before calling it a night.

Something Something Skeleton

For my lunch break I decided to play Breath of Death VII; a comedy RPG. I haven’t touched this in years, nor did I get very far on previous attempts. Something about playing it on a Steam Deck felt right though, aaaaaaaand my eyes are shot after a night of poor sleep. I’m hoping to change that tonight!

Despite being labeled Deck Verified I managed to get the game to lock up twice. Next time I play I’ll have to experiment with different Proton versions to see if I can fix it.

Another Sunday in the Wonderlands

It was a good day all around. I woke up and made a nice sushi breakfast bowl, and in the afternoon Yutram and I met up to continue our digital adventures in The Wonderlands! I’m thinking we’re getting close to the end. We took a break from the main quest line to gather shrine pieces and tie up other side quests that we haven’t finished.

I’m thinking next playsession we might finally finish the game! Unless there is a plot twist lying around somewhere…

Tears of Gaming

Spent some time in Crystar tonight, as part of the remainder of my weekend self care! I finished a couple more chapters, gained a new friend, and learned a bit about some of the souls I’ve been killing. All in all? A productive evening I’d say.

I have to admit, I do like the shining visuals of the labyrinth that is this universes purgatory. I wish I could say more about the combat… Crystar’s combat system very clunky, and leaves a bit to be desired. The fighting gets a bit repetitive; you spawn into purgatory, destroy lost souls and wander finding lost memories until you find the exit and finish your mission. I’m glad they at least gave me an extra character to help add a little variety.

Her name is Kokoro. I teamed up with her, she has some amazing fisting abilities. The voice acting in this game ranges from Ok to B Grade Anime voice acting. I’m thinking next time I play to see if I can load the Japanese vocals instead, just to see how well they compare to English… when I feel the in the mood to play again. :v

It’s Been Unreal

Took over my first bandit camp! It was fun picking all of them off before finishing off the few stranglers from within the hold. This is where I parted ways for a Coop adventure.

We completed The Ditcher quest, it ended about how I expected it to. We also cleared out a few bandit camps, collected some shrine pieces and explored new territory. Once again the Unreal Engine has done a good job consuming my weekend. :v

On the last session I earned a new face plate! I’m thinking this one is my fave so far. It gives me Mortal Kombat vibes.
