The Darkness II Has An Air Vent Issue

There’s an air vent that you have your Darkling buddy climb into, and he uses his powers so you can see from his perspective. You use his tiny body to traverse through the vents, but the game won’t let you walk past an invisible wall. This is caused by a similar issue that I found in the PC version of Killer Is Dead, an issue tied with framerate. If your game is getting more than 60 frames per second you’ll be stuck until you enable V Sync. I tried enabling it in game but it only seems to work when running in windowed mode, and setting V Sync through my Radeon Software (Windows) doesn’t seem to help. But switching it to Windowed, getting through that area of the level, and switching back to full screen seems to have worked. I’ll have to try this on Linux to see if Proton will make it run any better, just as an experiment. I might also try tweaking the configs to see if I can get it to enable V Sync in fullscreen mode by changing some convars in one of the ini files, or running a borderless window program. If you’re reading this and have had similar issues check out this link.

Other than that particular snag I’m really enjoying the game! I survived the interrogation scene and have chosen that as my stopping point until I pick up the game again; Hopefully I don’t run into anymore issues.

Lara Croft And The Temple Of Amnesia

I’ve been meaning to play this for quite some time (preferably with friends) and was lucky enough to do so this afternoon. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered a bug that seems to randomly happen on certain systems that prevents the application from saving your progress. :zorak: I read around and discovered this bug has existed since release, and for whatever reason the devs never bothered fixing it. There isn’t even word of a fan patch that could fix the issue. Shameful…

This game had potential (I say had because it has pretty much been abandoned), and I was hyped to be able to play with more than just two people even with it being as buggy as it is during multiplayer. Oh, and surprise surprise it appears the console versions didn’t share these issues. :zorak:

I’ve uninstalled the game for now. Additionally I could install someone’s save file, or delete a particular folder, start the game, change a setting, and move some save files to get it to work… but I could invest that kind of time into playing and modding games that actually work. I guess I could test this on my laptop or the HTPC. If it works I could always play local coop with my bro.

I wanted to continue with recording the game to continue this style of series:

Alas, twas not meant to be I guess… I’ll have to apply this style to another game, if I can find something comparable.

I found a Serious Bug

Decided to continue my adventures in Serious Sam. I never played much of the HD First Encounter (unless you count the First Encounter DLC inside of HD Second Encounter) so I decided to have a go at it. I was greeted by an interesting bug:

On another note I also took the time to customize the game on my gaming keyboard. I mean after all I have the games all perfectly customized on my Steam Controller. I need to stop neglecting my Serious Sam keyboarding! And let me tell you this is one Serious Setup.

SamProfile

No longer do I have to raise my hand higher on the keyboard to do a quicksave. Ha!
