Just A Normal Game Of HZD

Sooooo I made the mistake of looking at the updated list of mods for Horizon Zero Dawn, and ended up spending most of the day immersed in Aloy’s adventures. I took over another bandit camp, caused all kinds of machine related chaos and even made it to the desert. Finding all kinds of different machines, each bigger and more horrifying than the last, and equally fun to try and figure out how to take down. I kept telling myself that I’d get back to animating after finding a stuck area, but I kept powering through it enough that next thing I knew it had been a good couple of hours, and at that point I was thirsty for more adventure!

I think after today I can say I got a good amount of adventure out of my system, enough that I can shelve the game for now and focus on my animation, and of course a different distraction. This game was just too beautiful to put down, and I’m compelled to finish it now that I have Forbidden West to play afterwards! That’s a looooong ways away though. I have other games I need to take into consideration – I’m thinking of doing something hellish tomorrow night…

Back On The Horizon

Today I craved cinematic adventure, so I enjoyed some HZD on the comfort of a couch and controller. Took care of a couple corrupted areas, watched corrupted machines rip apart some bandits and even did an override on a cauldron’s core! I’ve mainly been playing on Keyboard and Mouse, so it did take some dialing in with the Steam Controller, but once I worked the config to my liking it wasn’t much different than playing desktop style. I’ve become quite proficient at taking down the watchers, and even learned how to override a few new machines in the process.

It’s still going to be a long way before I finish this one, so I don’t feel too bad about binge playing it today. I wish there were more people I could talk about this game with at work… either they haven’t gotten around to playing it, or they just found it all to be boring. To each their own… For me it’s like a mix of Modern Tomb Raider and MGSV, it’s a good mix.

All-Mother Be Praised

Another evening of victory! Took care of the last camp, then killed A LOT of cultists and a few machines. I’m currently on my way to clean up a couple areas that are being plagued by corrupted machines. Kinda wish I could continue playing, found so many things to discover before calling it a night. Oh well, some other time… Nevertheless it was a nice escape.

The Adventurous Sorts

The last bit of my evening was spent losing myself in a very vivid, colorful world with much to discover. I returned to the farmland that was previously on fire, and began to slowly purify the land. I found a few rot, won a few battles and even have a special delivery for next time.

I’m thinking tomorrow night of continuing my adventures in HZD. I played a bit last night, and much like in Kena I was once again lost in a very vivid world. Last night I left off helping the Nora Braves take down some Cultists, destroyed two of three bases and found a few Ancient Vessels for my ever expanding collection. It was fun taking down the alarms and creating an ambush. I don’t know why so many people at work told me this game is boring, it offers a multitude of destroying your enemies.

Climbed My First Tallneck!

My entire weekend may have been shrouded in rain, but as usually I made the most of it. It’s been a weekend of breakfast tostadas, PJ’s, some video creativity, and an assortment of entertainment to choose from. I ended the last bit of the evening with some Horizon Zero Dawn, and climbed my first Tallneck! Also killed a couple of Sawtooths and rescued a couple fellow Braves. Glad to see that we’ll be getting the sequel on PC! I’m sure by the time I finally finish HZD it’ll be at a good price! There’s already plenty to do in HZD to keep me tied over, along with the other things in my backlog needing to be completed. That said, I’ll probably play a different game tomorrow… I kinda want to go back to the Tomb Raider Remasters to get an achievement or two, maybe even snap some fun photo mode stuff.

On The Brave Path Again

I’ve been playing a lot of old school DOOM or an assortment of indie games recently, time to take a break to play something a little more modern. 😀 I completed a couple of side quests and made it to level 10! It’s been cold today, so this was a great way to warm the place and entertain myself a bit.

The All Mother of Open Threads

Finished a small quest tonight in HZD! Collected 4 Boar Skins and a Ring for a quest. Next time I play I’m poised to take down a couple Sawtooths. Most of my evening was spent configuring OBS to do a few things, building a couple a scenes and experimenting with some plugins – nerdy fun! I’ll probably work on a couple more scenes tomorrow – it makes for a good small break from all the video editing I’ve been doing.

Open Thread!

It’s Been Unreal

Took over my first bandit camp! It was fun picking all of them off before finishing off the few stranglers from within the hold. This is where I parted ways for a Coop adventure.

We completed The Ditcher quest, it ended about how I expected it to. We also cleared out a few bandit camps, collected some shrine pieces and explored new territory. Once again the Unreal Engine has done a good job consuming my weekend. :v

On the last session I earned a new face plate! I’m thinking this one is my fave so far. It gives me Mortal Kombat vibes.

The Proving Has Been Proven

We had a nice summer day of about 25C today! It gave me the perfect excuse to take a break from my desk so that I can take care of other things… like fixing buttons on a shirt, indulging in some kashmiri green chai while doing some e-shopping for my pantry, and Horizon Zero Dawn on my Steam Deck! I survived The Proving after some trial and error (with a side of fucking around).

I got about an hour of play out of it, which seems to be the norm with Unreal Engine games – especially the graphically intensive ones. I wonder how long it’ll be before I play it again? It’s one of those games that I keep meaning to get back into, but can’t seem to in my endless sea of entertainment. Still, the small break was nice. 🙂
