Tears of Gaming

Spent some time in Crystar tonight, as part of the remainder of my weekend self care! I finished a couple more chapters, gained a new friend, and learned a bit about some of the souls I’ve been killing. All in all? A productive evening I’d say.

I have to admit, I do like the shining visuals of the labyrinth that is this universes purgatory. I wish I could say more about the combat… Crystar’s combat system very clunky, and leaves a bit to be desired. The fighting gets a bit repetitive; you spawn into purgatory, destroy lost souls and wander finding lost memories until you find the exit and finish your mission. I’m glad they at least gave me an extra character to help add a little variety.

Her name is Kokoro. I teamed up with her, she has some amazing fisting abilities. The voice acting in this game ranges from Ok to B Grade Anime voice acting. I’m thinking next time I play to see if I can load the Japanese vocals instead, just to see how well they compare to English… when I feel the in the mood to play again. :v

We’ve Destroyed Machines Beyond Counting

It’s been awhile since I’ve played NieR Automata. I took a break during my 9S playthrough to play through Replicant when it came out. I’m glad I did, while not a requirement to it does make it easier to spot references in the overall story. Now might be a good time for me to get back into it; the modding community has been adding some fun stuff:

I visited the nexus and found quite a few things that I’ll have to add once I (someday) finish my first playthrough! They’ve added a couple new areas, a bunch of model replacements for weapons, outfits and models. With the right amount of mods I might consider doing a livestream with it! But for now it was fun to hack n slash tonight, and since I’m currently playing as 9S it’s more like hack n slash, and just hacking… I don’t mind playing as 9S, but the hacking games get really repetitive really quickly.

I Promise Not All Of My Vacation Will Involve The Yakuza

Made it to Chapter 11 after an accidental Kiwami 2 binge! This series is unlike anything I’ve ever played. It has a serious looking aesthetic, yet it has no problem throwing a Super Sentai Bus at you with its creative writing. Sometimes I go in just to play the minigames.

Originally I was going to get back to work on some animation, but I wasn’t feeling it and it’s always fun wandering the streets of any Yakuza game!

All Aboard The Ark Of Yamato!

Another game I can add to the finished list! Now that I’ve successfully finished it I can provide my list of pros and cons:

Pros:
  • You’re a Wolf… AWESOME
  • You’re a God… that’s cool too
  • Beautiful Music and Visuals
  • Amazing Storytelling
  • Hours of Exploration
  • Unique Gameplay: Slowly save the world with The Joy of Painting!
  • 4K Support
  • Linux and Steam Deck Friendly
Cons:
  • 30FPS limit

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed playing Okami, and look forward to playing it again on NG+! Easily one of the best games of all time. Now give us Okamiden!
