Okami Sunday

I’m slowly plinking away at Okami on my Steam Deck! I didn’t really accomplish much, other than walk on large bodies of water and mine for demon teeth. Demon teeth are a currency that you can give to special sellers in exchange for special abilities. The music from Okami is oddly addicting, too. I had it playing while cleaning up earlier. 😛 I might play a bit more after a small allergy drug induced nap.

Oki Doki

I binged on Okami today with the aid of green tea, udon soup and the scent of cherry blossoms from a soy candle I have to remove the scent of fire smoke from California. We had a bunch of it yesterday and it’s been bothering my throat along with many others. I even found a new area! Once again I’m in awe at how big this game is, given the era it came out in. There was also completing a bounty list, catching a thief and mastering most of the god techniques… including pissing on my enemies to gain demon fangs.

I also looked at the Okami footage again, and I think I have an idea for an ending for it. I have the basic building blocks for it but will go over building the script with my good friend. 🙂

Japanese Games Keep Taking Over My Weekends!

Yesterday I was in 80’s Japan, and today I spent most of my gaming time in Painted Feudal Japan looking for cat statues, treasure, and animals that haven’t been fed yet.

It was a nice contrast to a sleepy grey day. I also made a homemade noodle bowl for breakfast, and have been enjoying tea ranging from matcha to sencha. I even mixed some matcha with some raspberry white hot chocolate I recently bought. When mixed together it looks like a green tea latte with sakura petals! The matcha pairs well with the sweetness of the white chocolate and the tartness of raspberry. I would have snapped a picture, but the lighting was all wrong, and I want to snap a pic in drinkware better fit for a photo shoot. All in all it was a calm day, well deserved.

Okami Brings Sunshine To My Sunday

Another rainy day, another excuse to enjoy warm tea and games to keep me warm. I’m even finishing the evening with some sake flavoured with cherry blossom syrup. There was also more tea, and finishing off the last of the mochi. I made quite a bit more progress in Okami too!

I think I’m charged up enough to move onto something else tomorrow, now that I have a clear enough mind.

YoRHa Party of Five

My new fave thing to do as 9S is to sneak up behind unsuspecting machines, and then I’ll hack them to fight for me. I made my own little group of androids and stormed the machine kingdom once more. I’m now officially at a point in the game I’ve never been! I think that’s a perfect time to shelve the game, until I open it again. Another weekend comes to a close, and another work week begins anew, and another opportunity to cross more things off my to-do list… such as posting about something that doesn’t have to do with albino androids and android looking machines! 😛

NieR Automata and The Meaning Of Life

Continued my NieR Automata run as 9S this evening – managed to close some shared quests I missed as 2B, and even found some new ones as 9S.

Playing as 9S is a little different. 2B is entirely combat while 9S is some combat and “hacking”. I found a couple machines standing in strange places, all questioning deep things like the meaning of life, or their own existence. I have to admire how uniquely deep this game can be.

Dear Mum, Found A New Contact At The Oasis

I found a secret oil oasis while wandering around in the deserts of NieR Automata, and I found that even in android society you will find drug dealers.

I went through surviving the religious machine suicide mission, well… I only died once. :v Fortunately my body died on a conveyor belt, so I didn’t have to go too far to collect myself. That was pretty much my whole playthrough for the evening. I haven’t felt well for most of the day, so the rest of my time was pretty much spent napping and watching a friend of mine grow watermelons and a bee colony on his virtual boat.

Continuing My Adventures in NieR Automata

I spent the gaming part of the weekend in the world of NieR Automata — continuing to find quests and other strange things I didn’t catch during my previous playthrough as 2B. Father Servo is at a level where I need to buff up a bit before I can butt fuck him up the dick, I got to meet a man that literally wanted to build a family, destroyed machines with a giant pig, and I found the grave of the baby king that someone beat me to killing.

I was chatting with a co-worker about playing this over my vacation, and he told me he couldn’t get into the game because it just didn’t make sense… I don’t think it’s supposed to, and for some reason it actually works.

NieRing The End Of My Vacation

It was a cold afternoon, and it only felt right to heat the living room with a proper game. I’ve been playing through NieR Automata, this time taking my time on the 2B story-line to make sure I get as many quests out of the way as possible. I’ve already found a couple characters that I don’t remember seeing on my previous playthrough:

I was hopping from building to building, when I noticed in the distance a lone machine on a neighbouring rooftop. When making the jump over a surrounding barrier surrounded us with the puny machine. After kicking his ass he introduces himself as Father Servo; a lone machine monk, and this rooftop is his dojo. He’s already sent me on a few quests as “payment” for the ass kicking that he kept asking of 2B and 9S. Every time I doubled back around in between side quests I would usually find a bigger more badass Father Servo:

This last fight took a bit of grinding! Fortunately I had a lot of supplies on hand to deliver a proper beating. I’ve already left him with parts to make himself even stronger than before, so I imagine the next time I pay him a visit he’ll fully cripple my hands from all the button pressing…

This was another character I missed on my previous playthrough, probably because of the bit of grinding required to finish it and other quests being closer. We had to collect enough parts to reawaken a giant machine lifeform by the name of Engels, who at this stage, seems harmless enough to the point of being bored and wanting you to tell him a story. I’d like to continue this, but I need to start getting my body out of vampire mode, and back into early riser mode for Tuesday.

It was another nice little escape. 🙂
