I’ve been adventuring so much in Dust an Elysian Tail that I had all the materials to complete each Fale quest tonight in one visit! It was funny just sitting there, solving each quest with a “Here are those materials you asked for, Fale.” without having to venture off to purchase or loot my way to victory. At this point I have three sidequests and the main story to look forward to, when I get to it. 🙂
Metroidvania
Who Wants To Stab a Millionaire?
Would have been funnier if The Millionaire was a Pachinko Machine, but it was fun fighting a One Arm Bandit, and even better watching it self destruct. This gets me to a little over 87% completion!
It’s been an Unreal weekend! Even the video I released today used Unreal! I think I’ll do something Source related tomorrow, like Portal Reloaded? I’ve been using a lot of swordplay and magic, gotta balance it out with some science!
Another Bloodstained Sunday
Made it to a little over 80% completion tonight! I beat David Hayter (Zangetsu) in combat, and he rewarded me with his sword. I also defeated The Carpenter, thanks to Zangetsuto! I’d play more, but this is a short weekend for me. Most of my co-workers are on vacation, and they’re making me do the splits this week – I don’t get another day off until Saturday. As a silver lining that does give me a three day weekend, so there is that. 😛
I’m glad I was able to make some more progress, the last time I played it didn’t feel like I got very far. Now the next time I play I’ll know what to look forward to! New things to find, and probably more death and powerups!
My Monday Indie Assortment
Whisker Squadron Survivor finally released today! They made the rides longer, and they definitely made the game even harder since the demo. It did take my stats from my demo playthrough and added them onto my character as an added bonus. I haven’t made it to the end of the newer runs yet, but I am looking forward to practicing in my spare time. 🙂 Maybe even live if I’m up to it!
I picked it up in small rail shooter pack that included it and another game called Ex-Zodiac, I’ve only finished the first level so far, but I like it! It brought back memories of playing Star Fox while visiting at some relatives as a kid. I never had a SNES so I couldn’t get into the series – at least we have some indies that can help scratch that itch! If Nintendo doesn’t want my money I’ll give it to the indies, plain and simple. This and Whisker Squadron Survivor were great to play when I needed to take a break from dying constantly in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night!
I didn’t get very far, but I did level up my character, obtained a few permanent health items and even got a couple achievements to add to the collection. Apart from that though I need to git gud at slaying Zangetsu again, and this guy…
The Carpenter clearly is some kind of demon based on his beautiful purple blood. So far my many attempts have yet to stagger him in battle, which tells me it’s time to take a break. Between last night and today I got a little over 1% more completed, and I’m sure I’ll return this again soon – at least within a years time! 😛
Bloodstained Sunday
Hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since I’ve last set foot in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, but I made progress! I even found the Oriental Secret Lab just before calling it quits. What little I’ve seen has been beautiful so far, much like the rest of the game. I might even play a bit more on Steam Deck before bed, if only to see a bit more of the lab!
Suddenly Furries!
I cleared a few sidequests in Dust: An Elysian Tail, and also did one of the trials! Sat outside on my Steam Deck and got some fresh air while making progress. I’m at level 28 now, and 61% completion. I’ve done JUST enough to merit another break! 😛
Knocking the Dust Off of Dust During Maytroidvania!
I haven’t touched this one in awhile! There wasn’t much time for me to get heavily invested in it this evening, but I did find a couple chests and went up a level. It wasn’t much, but it’s a small bit of progress.
Apparently May is MAYtroidvania! Although, I think I’ve played a lot of Shantae to give myself some leeway to play other genres!
Booty Quake!
A couple nights ago I learned the art of Booty Quakin’! I’ve been making another lap around the entire island, still finding things that have yet to be found until finding them.
Aside from uncovering gems and abilities, I’ve also been tasked with finding buried statues with my new found power. That always seems to be the appeal with any of the Metroidvanias I’ve played thus far; you learn new things and then you get to go allll over the world again to find all the things that were juuuuust out of reach from you before.
I almost opened up Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on my Deck, but slapped my hand and continued onward through Seven Sirens. It makes sense for me to continue while I still remember all the controls. Maybe if I get stuck at a certain point.
Revival Dance!
If you haven’t been following my Mastodon feed – I’ve been plinking away at Shantae and the Seven Sirens for the last few days. It’s really easy to pick up on and put down, especially on Deck. The weather has been great these last few days, and it’s nice to go out and get a little fresh air while getting some achievements in. Aside from game to my heart’s content I did do a little more spring cleaning, this time through the wardrobe. I have a modest bag of things to donate, plus I got rid of any raggy looking items. I still have a few other things to go through, but I probably won’t be throwing away much else in terms of clothing. I’ve also been continuing the purging of my tea collection, though I’m not sure if it counts if I’m drinking it!
Maybe if I plink away a bit more at this game a little before bed I’ll play something else tomorrow… or be empowered enough to continue.
Shantae and the Annoying Squid
Today was a play Steam Deck in bed kind of a day. Was having one of those dizzy kind of days, but I’m able to handle side-scrollers ok. Next time I play I predict a not lame boss battle will be awaiting me!
