Indika Is An Interesting Game

Indika.

One day while doomscrolling through the Fediverse I came upon Indika; A game about a young girl named Indika, who happens to be a nun in an alternate 19th century Russia. She goes on a journey of self discovery, and meets an unlikely companion along the way. Indika is an indie title with a team so dedicated to finishing their project that they (10 out of 14) had to flee their homeland of Russia in order to finish it. That alone made me curious to see what this game had to offer.

Indika gathering water from a well to fill a barrel for a cunty nun.

When you start the game it doesn’t take too long to realize that Indika is an outcast amongst her own. She’s forced to reside along a coven of bitchy babushka nuns, and performs tasks her sisters give to her. All the while she is narrated by The Devil himself, who is also a voice in her head. Eventually Indika has to leave the church to go on a journey of self discovery. When Indika isn’t wandering the frozen lands looking for items for basic puzzle solving, she relives childhood flashbacks in a more pixelated environment.

Indika having a flashback to a time where she raced her father on an oven powered bicycle.

When the game starts she actually falls through space, and later she has a flashback with her father and their oven powered bicycles. The game also gives you the option of collecting points that don’t do anything… or do they?

So far it has been a interesting, unique adventure. Like if classic Resident Evil centered around a nun who goes on regular acid trips. It has the right level of intrigue and horror for me to recommend checking out during Spooktober!

No Princess In This Castle

Put a little bit of time into chipping away at Castlevania. I’m really glad they allow you to save whenever you want via the emulator, because if I played this back when it originally released I probably wouldn’t of had the patience to complete it. I had to watch a video to get some tips on how to “git gud” and it seems Holy Water is the perfect weapon. There are only 18 stages in the game, and so far I’ve made it to stage 13 before saving and calling it a night. I might consider grinding it more tomorrow, or if I’m too irritated with it switch to another Castlevania/Metroidvania. I’m so glad the newer ones have save rooms…

Atop The Mountain Of Outland

Gave my Steam Deck some much needed love tonight after I got home. I haven’t been taking it to work much, and even when I have I haven’t really been playing it. I either don’t have time during lunch to play, or have been so interested in reading on my tablet that all gaming activities can just wait until I get home. It just felt nice plopping down on the bed and playing a bit of Outland. The last time I played was back at the start of the year, my how time flies…

I gained a couple new abilities, and even thwarted a boss battle. I only died a couple times, then continued to die multiple times more during my adventures. Tonight I finally unlocked the launchpad ability! I’m looking forward to visiting past areas to see what I’ve missed. Might find more hearts and orbs to make me stronger, who knows?

Looming In Fog and Shadow

My weekend of zen is going great. Cuddled with an orange cat this morning, made a healthy Japanese style breakfast, sorted through some video footage and played a little bit of Aragami 2 while enjoying the last of my sakura green tea (it’s almost like there’s a theme going on, or something). I haven’t played since July, but it was easy to pick up where I left off, controls and all. Completed an assassination mission without any detection.

My latest success means that I’ve finally unlocked a forge! The visit alone gave me a couple achievements. I bought a few support items and crafted another mask, but instead of wearing it I went with the old tried and true, for old times.

While they have changed a whole bunch since the previous game I do admit I like the new features. They still have the Classic mode option, which I’ve yet to play. That will have to wait for a future session. I’m thinking of making this one of my October games to play – it would be perfect for spooky season.

Kickin’ Those Tires

It seems not many gamers look for the Relics in the Crash Bandicoot games, at least on PC. I got the “Kick the Tires!” achievement/trophy for earning 5 relics from time trial mode.Apparently, only 5% of players took the time to play in time trial mode. Kinda weird to think that something as easy as playing time trial to get an achievement for a handful of relics isn’t even taken into consideration. Gathering ALL of the relics? I could see that one getting skipped… but just five?

I called it quits after gathering 6. They’re all sapphire rank, not sure if I’ll have enough patience to get the gold or platinum ones.

Some Kind Of Wonderful

Ah, The Wonderful 101. I remember trying to play it a couple years ago but ended up raging when I couldn’t quite hit the sweet spot on my Steam Controller. I played it on my Steam Deck and it went a lot better.

The Wonderful 101 is definitely one of the more, different hack n slash/brawler types. You mainly play as Wonder Red, and you can round up/rescue citizens to temporarily become Wonderfuls that fight along side you. The more people in your army, the more powerful you are. Now that I have a better idea of what I’m doing I’ll have to see if I can tweak the Steam Controller to respond more like an analog stick… either that or switch to one of my other controllers, assuming they even work. 😛

Scratching The Surface Of Portal Revolution

Played Portal Revolution tonight. Haven’t touched it since May, and I needed to find something to fry my brain. It doesn’t quite make my brain smell like bacon as Portal Reloaded did, but it can still make you think until you can’t.

The earlier test chambers leave you stuck with a portal gun that only fires blue portals, and the test chambers you use them in are slightly more intricate than the beginning levels of the original Portal games. It took me a little while to figure out how to solve a few of these puzzles while others were solvable in just a couple minutes. Either way it was a good fun few hours to kill.

A Writer’s Story Can Be Another’s Reality

Decided to return to the Remedy Cinematic Universe tonight. Gave Jesse a small makeover, and installed a bunch of mods! The Nexus has five pages worth, and surprisingly some of them range from helpful to entertaining. I figure as Director I can pretty much do whatever the hell I want. Advanced the plot, and even got a small glimpse of Alan Wake:

One of the documents I found lying around mentioned him and Alex Casey, and it sounded like something that might have gone down in Alan Wake 2… of course it’ll be a long while before I find out. 😛 Maybe it’ll release on Steam after I finish Control and Alan Wake…. someday, someday.
