Half Life GoldSrc At 144hz And Above!

If you ever want to play this on 120hz and up you just need to do the following:

  1. Go to Steam and right click on Half Life
  2. Click Properties
  3. Click on Local Files
  4. Click on Browse…
  5. Double click on the Valve folder and open config.cfg
  6. Go to Edit>Find and type in fps_max, then press “Find Next”
  7. Change the value from 100.0 to match desired refresh rate

I did read that upping the max framerate can cause strange side effects in the game engine, so proceed with caution (and a camera in case hilarity ensues).

Getting Skyrim (Oldrim) to run on a 144hz G-Sync Display

I sat down today and put some time aside to fix my Skyrim on the new laptop. My new ROG has a 144hz G Sync display, and Skyrim doesn’t play nice with high frame or refresh rates. I followed this guide and it did the trick. The local wildlife no longer has seizures around me, and I no longer randomly swim in midair.
