I’ve been playing DOOM with the updated soundtrack and it fucking SLAPS.
So far I’ve only listened to E1M1 thru E1M9 and it rocks soooo hard. So far I think I like E1M3 the best, but so far I’ve liked all of them!

Bethesda recently remastered DOOM and DOOM II for modern consoles… which means my Steam copies of the original got a free upgrade! I decided to check it out tonight. While I prefer GZDoom it does look like it has potential. You can load mods, it runs at modern refresh rates and more modern controls. Of course, the most important update obviously has to be the achievements.
From what I can tell not many have checked out the new shiny version of the old school. All the achievements I got tonight are still considered rare, even for the easiest tasks. Maybe that’ll change in time, who knows… I’ll probably install this on Steam Deck at some point for some portable progression.
Finished American McGee’s Alice tonight, overall I had a good time with it. Some of the game mechanics haven’t aged well, but the story, music and overall weapons made it all come together. I think my favorites were the deadly jacks. They did an incredible job with the idTech3 engine, I kinda wish they had a multiplayer deathmatch mode. ๐
Now I can properly begin Alice: Madness Returns next time I need to get my fix of Alice. Not sure if I’ll start a new game, or if I’ll continue on from the save I already had. Might be a good idea to do the latter to refresh myself on the controls. Save that for another time though, tomorrow I have a few digital science experiments to tackle, and maybe continue a video project.
What’s this? A game that isn’t Resonite? Apparently I still play other games? I finally made it past the Royal Rage in American McGee’s Alice. The boss was a total thorn in my side until I figured out what I needed to use to thwart the bastard a second time. Now I’m on my way to the Red Queen… who knows how long it’ll take for me to get there. I’m close to the end, but how long until I decide to play it again? At least I got through the boss battle…
Over the decades I’ve seen DOOM run on a plethora of devices that I never envisioned them running on. Stomach bacteria, ATMs, clocks, a thermostat, and many many more devices… but now we have a new contender!… until we get another even crazier device that can run DOOM.
You can now play DOOM on a fucking fleshlight.
YouTuber Aaron Christophel has done quite a few hardware hacks in the past. He previously got Doom running on an electric toothbrush. In a video this week, Christophel showed the 1998 landmark FPS running on the masturbatory aid. He includes a link to where he purchased the device in case any other folks were inclined to perform the same hack. Of course, thatโs the only reason.
The earbuds are a nice touch ngl.
Took to my Steam Deck during another hot day, and decided to enjoy some Metal Gear Solid in the shade. Calling it quits tonight just before starting the Psycho Mantis battle. Managed a good couple of hours on Steam Deck, By the time I depleted the battery it was cool enough for me to switch over to the desktop.
As glad as I am that Konami did an official PC release – I do wish Konami added better graphic features for their emulator. In epsxe I had it looking a lot smoother and clearer, worthy of a 4K TV. Since I’m mostly playing this on Steam Deck though, it isn’t that big of a deal.
Time traveled back to an older game and made it through another chapter. I had to take a break after the clockwork rooms, started feeling motion sick from traversing all those spinning gears. Next time I play I’ll be playing the final chapter of the game – 5 levels in total, and the first one starting with a bossfight against the Jabberwock. It’s looking like I might actually finish this one, and possibly some time this year!
Squared off against The Jaberwock tonight, and lucky for me he sucks at playing a game of Jacks. Then I navigated through one of the easiest mazes ever, it’s hard to get lost when you keep following all the enemies you haven’t killed yet.
Parking in Airborne Terror for now.ย Looks like it’ll be fun. I thought I’d be getting pretty close to finishing, but I’ve looked up the list of levels and I have at least a few more sessions before reaching the end. Oh well… more to savor!
Played a game of jacks tonight with The Mad Hatter, and won… kinda. Ever since then I’ve been wandering the more hellish parts of Wonderland.
Getting through this area was a bit of a hassle because of the Devils, the slippery slopes and the jump button not working when I wanted it to. This is where Alice will be setting up camp for the time being, ending the evening on a more twisted note. Tomorrow night I’m thinking of playing something just as warped, but probably newer.
