Deus Ex GOTY On Steam Deck: First Impressions

I ran Deus Ex GOTY on my Steam Deck tonight! So far it seems to be running fine in OpenGL mode! I downloaded a controller template someone made for it on the workshop and have been reworking it more to my liking (adding gyro and swapping a couple buttons around.) But so far it seems to be running fine out of the box! I’m running it on my SD card, where I keep lower powered indie games and retro titles. I never had this game growing up, gotta make up for lost time!

Babies That Travel At The Speed Of Cocaine

Managed to save more Stuffed Animals; this time from a pack of Baby Space Kangaroos that bounce around like they all just OD’d on Space Vegemite. It wouldn’t be so bad except each encounter with them knocks you down for a few seconds. Sadly, I had to take one of them down. Otherwise my attempts at escape would have been highly unlikely. I also managed to save Sydney (The Earth one, not Space Sydney), and Rome!

Now I just need to figure out how to traverse the Mountain Dew room without falling in, there’s always next time.

One Hour Of Childhood

As if the Pepsi operation on Mars wasn’t bad enough – The Space Kangaroos are holding Stuffed Animals hostage on their bloody ship! The Fiends!

Also, I saved New York! But only after I blew up the earth… whoops.

Spacing Out In 8 Bit

aaaaaannnnnddddd scene!

I finally finished it! It only took a few decades, but I did it! Onto the next episode!

Why don’t they melt?

The Second Episode in the series is very similar to the first. Aside from new food and candy sprites, we have climbable soda and robots you can hitch rides on. You’re aboard a Mothership hovering over Earth, and you’re tasked with saving the cities that are on board. So far I’ve saved one and completed a couple of levels. It’s nice being able to play these on the Deck!

In Space: No One Can Hear You Torture Teddy Bears

Each alien appears to have a Teddy Bear Interrogation Room?

Originally I was going to tackle a different game, but I actually made enough progress to press on through Commander Keen! I just have one more level to beat, then I can move onto the next area of Mars!

Fun With Steam Deck Configs

I’ve been crafting a Commander Keen config for my Steam Deck! I’m getting tired of opening the on screen keyboard to save my progress, or answer old school dialogue windows. I also put in a radial menu for save numbers! It’s like having a computer built into a better Steam Controller. Once I’m happy with it I’m planning to make it public. There are already a few other configs to choose from on the Workshop, and I’d like to contribute! 😀
