A slight distraction.

To get our minds off of the tsunami a bit (plus I kinda sorta already planned this beforehand) I treated my father to a bit of TF2 tonight. He’s a n00b at it so I setup bots on our dedicated server. He’s still learning but he did alright, him and I even got some achievements!

I’ll be playing more TF2 over the next several days. I’d like to get more practice in myself.

Not a good way to end the night.

Last night I was in a middle of The Sacrifice in Left 4 Dead 2 when all of a sudden my game locks up, followed by a black screen. When I came back in I had to verify my RAID. It rebuilt itself without fail but I’ll have to keep an eye on it…

On the bright side I went downstairs and watched the rest of the game unfold via the server console. It seems an asshat took my place because everyone started shooting each other. So I issued a threat over console and suddenly there were crickets…

What I love about SRCDS…

It monitors asshats trying to rcon hack the server. I just looked at my server logs and found a person from Russia with 2 steam accounts tried to rcon hack the TF2 and TF2 beta server (one account per server with the same IP address).

Copied both Steam ID’s to every ban_user.cfg for each server.

Whodathunkit?

Fixing the server turned out to be less painful than expected. All I had to do was turn sv_password.

That’ll work until Valve fucks it up again.

Update

While it does allow me to create a lobby now, it doesn’t make it public despite setting it that way. Looks like I’m not out of the woods just yet…

Short night tonight.

Probably won’t be spotted much tonight. I have an early Sunday. Would have posted something last night but was too tired.

On another topic I see valve has broken my L4D2 server (yet again). Once again I am no longer able to make a lobby with it. The first time this happened was because we added our IP address to the run line, then it was because we weren’t using 27015, now I have no idea what the fuck it is. Looks like tomorrow night I’ll have my work cut out for me.
