Over the holidays I started a New Game + run of Yakuza Kiwami, and this moment was just too fun not to share!
Yakuza
Bonus Weekend!
Today was my Monday and Friday! I have a bonus day off tomorrow! I’ve been goofing off tonight in Yakuza Kiwami 2! Made it to Chapter 10!
I’ll start getting serious again tomorrow. I basically have the place to myself tomorrow, so it’ll be a good time for me to get some stuff done around the house. Plus I still have a care package to send off, and with the holidays behind me and my body rested I think I have the resolve to pull it together again.
The Music Of Yakuza
I’ve been listening to songs from the different Yakuza games while working (slowly) on the ending for the Like a Dragon vid. I can’t decide who’s rendition of Machine Gun Kiss I like better, Adachi or Kiryu.
I like both, though Adachi’s rendition has more feeling to it, especially at the very end. It’s also funny because his voice actor in Japanese is the same one who plays Solid Snake. Now I can’t help but imagine what it’d be like for Solid Snake to bust out those dummy thicc notes. 😛
Sunday Stroll Through Kamurocho
I’ve made it to the final chapter in Kiwami, now I’m just wandering around Kamurocho looking for missing side stories, and of course the occasional Majima encounter, and by occasional I mean it felt like every few minutes. I think I lost track of how many times I had to fight him, he goes all out to try and kick Kiryu’s ass.
Something tells me this is going to happen a lot until I finish the final chapter.
I Found The Cure For Depression
I’m surprised this isn’t canon.
The Yakuza Is Linux Friendly?
I can say quite happily that Yakuza Kiwami seems to be passing the Linux test so far, well… kinda. Other than not being able to close the game properly, and having to spam the save button in order for it to generate a save for some reason, it’s pretty much the same performance that I get under Windows, framerate is pretty much the same and I haven’t run across any graphical glitches. I even got a few achievements! They were all centered around Majima but… meh.
Perhaps a few Proton versions from now it’ll work like a native game! One can hope anyway.
MOAR YAKUZA COMING TO PC IN 2021 WOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I now have another reason for wanting to get this year over with for one more reason; it will put us members of the PC Master Race closer to obtaining all of the totally serious crime drama that is The Yakuza Series.
Sega today announced that the rest of the main Yakuza games – that’s 3, 4, 5, and 6 – will come to PC next year. That is, by my estimation, about 8000 hours of Kiryu helping strangers with emotional quandaries and absolutely decking villains. Hell yeah. They’ll all be covered by Xbox Game Pass For PC too.
I’ve been enjoying Kiwami during my weekends, and I was already planning on picking up Kiwami 2 and Like A Dragon during future sales. Now it looks like I’ll have to collect the entire series! I’ve been having fun talking about Kiwami at work with one of the few co-workers that I know who has actually played the series. I’m actually surprised the Yakuza titles aren’t more well known at this point considering the PS4 remasters have been around for awhile at this point; we’ve even sold them at work. Most of the people I talk games with at work are Playstation users too, how does that even work? O_o
The Watermelon Conspiracy Continues
I’m not sure if this showed up on my recommended list because of Watermelon or from watching Yakuza videos… I knew there was a reason I liked this character. :v
