>The idea is just NOW good enough to think about.

So I was going over this and thought there was some serious dejavu going on in this thread.

Jamey:

Hi all,

I really wanted to post this topic in response to the recent announcement of MORE being put on indefinite hold.

Ok, First off, I really want to keep this community alive, together, and hopeful. And since MORE is being put on hold, the community only has these (and a few other) forums to stay in contact.

Here is what I suggest, and ask of Cyan to make sure this would be ok by them. Do you all think we should run our own 100% community version of Until MORE? (the place we can go, well, until the MORE project at Cyan continues)

I know a lot of people, like myself, were against the idea of an Until Uru right before MORE, but now that MORE has been put on hold, I think we need UU (or Until MORE) to keep this community alive and well and hopeful. And when MORE finally does get back to production, Until MORE could be shut down.

And besides, if we don’t do something to keep Uru’s dream alive and well right now, who will?

What do you all think? And Cyan, what do you think?

[Edit: huh?! I thought this post was merged into another topic by a mod, now it’s back?! O.o]

The fact that the mods kindly put this back in a thread of it’s own tells me that this has to be a good idea and that Jamey is onto something. But even then I’m still at a bit of a fork in the road after reading some other interesting posts in the same thread.

Ewlian:

Well, the good idea would have been not to shut down until in the fist place. And now the same peaple want until back and complains ?? It’s too late to say “we want until back”. You should have said that back in february 2007.
Now until is no more, and though i wouldn’t mind it comming back, i don’t see that happening.

Here is where we reach the double edged sword. On one hand we currently have a choice of either meeting each other in a text format, or in a form of Uru. If you ask me, the people who pushed for UU to be shutdown are going soft on us. Why are they choosing now to think things over? Keeping interest? If anything it endangers MORE specifically because if you were to compare UU to MOUL, UU outlasted MOUL 3 times over. Would it be fun to run or even go to a UU server? Yes, but we’re not here to have fun, we are here to support Cyan, by waiting for them to do all the work while we sit around and nag about it.

BAD:

Are some of you really so selfish and immature to say you don’t want a game to play while MORE may or may not be worked out?

The only thing I see is “I didn’t like the bad times of UU and I refuse to admit there were good times. I want everyone to be as miserable as myself so I’m gonna poo poo any idea that may help get people back into playing Uru.”

Way to be folks.

Cyan, please don’t bring back Uru in any form. With people sporting this attitude, it will never last.

No wonder I dislike this forum.

And here I thought you’d be begging the mods here to lock the thread because Jamey is discussing as much hacking content as Dickens did.

BAD, you let me down…

Jamey:

I have to agree with you BAD. I’ve been seeing a lot of it myself and I don’t like it that much either. And if I think if they’re going to have a negative attitude about UU/MORE returning (whichever happens), they don’t have to participate in either one, because I really don’t think the people that want Uru to succeed to be surrounded by all the negativity. They deserve better than that, and so does Cyan.

Yes we have to if these rogue servers show up Jamey. It’s important to go to those shards and protest while conveniently partying at the same time. We have to login and tell all people who are on there to get off because for every time they sign into the game, a coder doesn’t get a redbull to get his wings.

mcbride3:

Oh, BAD just gets pissy from time to time; otherwise he can’t live up to his name.

If we are voting, I vote for Gondar’s version of the SHARD system.

Otherwise, matthornb’s likening of all this to the current stock market seems quite appropriate. I can’t think of many other things with such scintillating breakneck ups and downs. But remember, the economy had been basically sound. Cyan has not.
And even with what had been a strong economy (until Congress and the SEC began encouraging balloon mortgages for people who had no business buying a house in the first place) – we are headed for many more downs. I hope the economy remains strong enough to show a bit of oomph at Christmas.

Saying this, I think the economy is more predictable than Cyan.

Maybe so, but compared side by side, they are equally consistent.
