The other day when I decided to prep some videos for future release I happened upon the new “Inspiration” tab that you may have noticed if you use your Creator Dashboard. Like with most things Google does, I had to laugh to myself and wonder what YouTube would consider to be inspirational to their users and content creators? Then I clicked on Inspiration to see what Google thinks I need for inspiration.
If you guessed regurgitated AI bullshit then congratulations! You win! Your prize? Regurgitated AI bullshit! It basically takes videos that you’ve published, a mix of successful and recent videos, and it spits out “ideas” for what your next video should be along with an explanation for what the video should be about. As an added bonus (if you think even more AI bullshit is an added bonus) it will auto generate thumbnails for the video idea! I thought some of my thumbnails might have been on the lazy side… but using AI for a video thumbnail is an even lower form of lazydom. You can also type up ideas into the AI and have it come up with other “suggestions”.
I wish Creepy Uncle Google would allow us to disable, or opt out of their AI nonsense. Relying on a database scraper (which is pretty much what it is, there is no “intelligence” to these queries) look over my content and give me ideas for what I need to create next is the antithesis of inspiration. The only inspiration I got from discovering this feature was the urge to do a write up about how insufferably dull and unimaginative it is. I have no use for this feature for the type of content that I make (Game Videos & Hell Porn).
May their “Inspiration” go the way of the Dinosaur, or Google+.
