AMD and Mixamo partner up.

These games just keep getting more and more real. AMD and Mixamo are partnering up to create a realtime 3D animation plugin for the Unity engine so that future games can have more realism in them! Check out the video:

Of course the software is a tad pricy. Weighing in at $1499 according to the author of the video. Which sounds expensive but actually gives you access to Mixamo’s Auto-Rigger and 3D animation library for one entire year. Which to me is still pricy but still pretty awesome. Well, bad news. I don’t think my laptop USB can handle 2 kinects at a time. The good news is that I can plug into my fathers system and he doesn’t mind (I would use my desktop but I lack the proper space). So thankfully I can still use 2 kinects. Before I do so though I’ll be needing to do some calibration with cardboard. I’ll save that for another night. I decided that I would do some basic animations for something instead. Another thing I think I’ll do is buy a couple Kinect tripods for more versatile captures. I imagine the accessories will cost less than the actual cameras

On another note I made an interesting thing for dinner. The last few nights I’ve been eating Cinco De Mayonaise food, pizza, etc. Decided to make a soba salad with vegetables and salmon. It was pretty good, very cleansing to the palate.

Guess I’ll wrap things up and go rest. I have a banquet to attend. It’s being held in a church. I hope I don’t burst into flames…

What I’ve been up to.

So I kinda got distracted by hours of more mocap research and general testing during my days off, hence why I haven’t really been around much (even for my own stuff). Here’s my first test.

No matter what I did it was always jerking around like a meth addict. Then upon reading the documentation I discovered the program now has the option to export in DMX as opposed to SMD which I’m more familiar with. Here was the result of that:

It’s been a blast figuring this stuff out.
