Swing and a miss

I had something pointed out to me at work that I wasn’t going to write about. But with the events that happened yesterday I feel like I should. I’ve been stewing at it since then and I really need to get this written out. So lets start from the beginning.

Two days ago when I showed up for work one of my coworkers shared something he stumbled upon from a website that posts lots of junk, someone posted in the personals section of said site looking for someone they saw working at a particular place, with particular hair, and a particular item of their body they had a hard time not staring at. The place they described was where I work, and the person they described was me. I was a little creeped out by it. But I shrugged it off anyway and figured it wasn’t anything worth writing about. It was posted over a month ago, so why make a big deal out of it?

That was until…

Yesterday I was helping someone in our console section, and he wanted to know the improvements were between the old gen and new. So I filled in the details and he ended up telling me he hasn’t cared about consoles in a long time and that he preferred PC. So we talked about PC gaming and how fun it was to mod, and then we got on the subject of Skyrim, it was a nice conversation and it left off on a good note… until I walked off. Then he commented about that particular part of me that he found attractive. I’ll give you a hint: it wasn’t my eyes. Anyways the comment hit me below the belt and ruined my mood for the day. I wasn’t expecting this especially a day after having it pointed out to me that someone was looking for me on at least one particular site. I informed everyone who worked with me about these events so they could keep a lookout.

What pisses me off is that the conversation went really well, we had some common interests, he was real nice looking, but then he had to ruin it with a sexual comment. He might as well of said “Hey I got a bucket of chicken… ya wanna do it?”.

This world man… where did everything go wrong.

The new Batman isn’t really loved on PC right now.

The release of Arkham Knight is all kinds of fucked up right now. It was ported to PC by 12 people.

According to Batman: Arkham Knight’s credits, it appears Iron Galaxy Studios only had 12 of its employees working on the PC port of the game. Considering how ambitious of a game Arkham Knight is, having just 12 people working on the game seems a bit on the small side if you ask us. And after experiencing the many issues the PC version of Arkham Knight has, as well as reading complaints from a wide variety of Steam users, we have a feeling this amount of people just wasn’t enough to provide the kind of product customers expected.

That would explain why it’s so poorly optimized. Hell even the console version has ambient occlusion and other features built into it. This is a Batman title, a popular title that would obviously generate a shit ton of money, as have the previous games. Why would you hire a team the size of an indie to tackle this?

Update

Forgot to mention that Arkham Knight has been taken off Steam (or rather the ability to purchase it). Probably due to all the negativity, and the fact that you can get refunds now. 😛

They’re starting them younger and younger

I found this to be rather disturbing.

By the time children are 1 year old, one in seven uses a mobile device for at least an hour a day, according to a study presented today at the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) annual meeting in San Diego.

Of children younger than 1 year, 52 percent had watched television shows, 36 percent had touched or scrolled a screen, 24 percent had called someone, 15 percent used apps, and 12 percent played video games.

I can’t say that I’m shocked, this is the world we live in now. TV’s were slowly becoming babysitters for some families for a long time, then the internet came along and that made computers a nice distraction, now we’ve graduated to mobile babysitting… Technology FTW.

My vivid imagination has produced the following: I can see them running into each other on tricycles while trying to text each other… :v

In other news: Yes, people are still pissed about the workshop changes…

People have been speaking up (including popular YouTubers), signing the petition, making joke mods, etc etc. It’s getting so bad that Gaben had to speak up about it.

“Our goal is to make modding better for the authors and gamers,” Newell said in a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread. “If something doesn’t help with that, it will get dumped. Right now I’m more optimistic that this will be a win for authors and gamers, but we are always going to be data driven.”

Meanwhile, Garry (Creator of Garry’s Nod) is still voicing his opinion in a very professional manner… And by professional, I mean total douchecanoe that can eat a bag of salted dicks.

An Apple vs Android fight… with knives.

People are weird…

Think your iPhone vs Android debates with friends are fierce? Two Oklahoma roommates took a literal stab at making all of our smartphone arguments seem rather tame overnight.

The lesson here is that it doesn’t matter what side you’re on. Fanboys from either side are a danger. 😛

How the hell does someone like this become a vet?

I read this story hours ago and even now I still can’t wrap my head around how a veterinarian from Texas would not only kill a cat with a bow and arrow, but be grinning from ear to ear as if it were something to be proud of. I’ll give you a warning before you click the link. The picture in the article is very graphic.

Here is the article.

Dr. Kristen Lindsey, DVM, posted a picture on her Facebook page of her holding an arrow that is sticking through the head of a dead cat.

The post reads “My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s head! Vet of the year award … Gladly accepted.”

I’m still surprised that she thought this was perfectly fine. Hell, she didn’t even think she was going to get fired.

In the comment section of her post, she wrote “no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I’m awesome!”

Bad news, the cat wasn’t feral. Coincidentally an orange cat by the name of “Tiger” went missing, and the cat in the picture looked just like him. His caregivers were far from pleased. Of course even if the cat was feral as she claimed it would be far from unnecessary to kill an animal in such a disgustingly gruesome way.

It hasn’t been confirmed (from what I can tell) but one thing seems certain. Her career as a vet is definitely over. No one in their right mind would want a pet murderer touching their animals. If it were my cat I would have knocked the shit out of that insufferable bitchboat and pathetic excuse for a human being. I’d have no problem wiping the smile off her face.

I do hope she lives a long life though. Having to be reminded of how royally she fucked up.

Criminals + Social Media = LOL

Anyone who knows me knows very well that I’m not one for social networks, but I’ve found there is a positive side to them! In some cases it makes it easier for the police to find you. 😛

FAIRFIELD, Maine (March 24, 2015) — A Maine man who’d been wanted by police for several weeks made a couple of critical mistakes that led to his capture — he sent out social media messages pinpointing his location.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Christopher Wallace, of Fairfield, in connection with a burglary in January.

Police tell the Morning Sentinel that on Sunday night they received tips from people who said Wallace had posted on Snapchat that he had returned to his Fairfield home.

So, police went to the house.

While they were searching with permission of the resident, they were tipped off that Wallace had posted a new Snapchat message saying police were in the house looking for him and he was hiding in a cabinet. He was found in the cabinet.

I really don’t know what to say… I mean, this is a joke in itself! How could anyone be so stupid as to write where they are while they know damn for well where the fuck they are?

Fun fact: If you drive and text you’re a friggin’ moran

You know, it’s pretty sad that research had to be conducted to show that driving while texting isn’t such a good idea.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDWmwxQ_NnY

Researchers analyzed the six seconds leading up to a crash in nearly 1,700 videos of teen drivers taken from in-vehicle event recorders. The results showed that distraction was a factor in 58 percent of all crashes studied, including 89 percent of road-departure crashes and 76 percent of rear-end crashes. NHTSA previously has estimated that distraction is a factor in only 14 percent of all teen driver crashes.

Of course I’m glad they decided to take the time to point this out, because we live in a world where you practically have to have warning signs on everything.

Please tell me this is a joke

I stumbled upon this video from another blog I frequent. It’s about how GameStop employees can better understand the mysterious species that is the female shopper. O_o

This HAS to be some form of satire. The videos they make us watch at work have a hell of a lot of cheese factor in them, but nowhere near the amount presented in this disasterpiece of a video.
