Yep, still in Ubuntu.

Well, I tested Serious Sam 3 on Ultra graphics with success. Killing Floor passes with flying colors too. Team Fortress 2 seems to be throwing an error regarding OpenGL, so I’m downloading the latest drivers and trying yet another method of installing them. The ones already made available didn’t work, I tried running the makeself but ran out of memory… O_o So now I’m redownloading the latest drivers and trying yet again.

I have faith that I’ll get it sorted.

On another note my new gaming laptop arrived in the mail today. I’m currently copying some some games onto it from another computer for testing later on. So I’ll be very busy for awhile.

Greetings from Ubuntu

Posting from the Ubuntu side of the system. I’m feeling better so I figured I’d get everything sorted to run the Steam Linux Beta. So far I have Serious Sam 3, TF2, TF2 beta and psychonauts that need to be downloaded. I have about an hour before Serious Sam 3 is ready to play. Hopefully I won’t have much trouble.

I’ve installed some additional stuff. Like mumble, seamonkey, GNOME, KDE, xfce, and some other stuff. I’m not really liking the regular Ubuntu desktop thus far. Compared to KDE it seems too bare bones for my taste.

Best day I’ve had in awhile!

Well, aside from my morning shift (still groggy from that and may pass out after dinnerbreakfast), I bought a new laptop, 2 1TB 7200 RPM drives AND made it into the Steam Linux beta! So I might have to download the latest Ubuntu ISO later on to prepare, either that or wait for my new gaming system to arrive. I’ll post specs about it later when I’m less tired.

On another note I have a couple SFM things in the pipeline. One of them being my latest dream from last night. I think I’ll start on that one first.

Gonna go read up on some stuff now.

Friday is my Monday Open Thread

I pretty much loafed around yesterday. Day off, balmy weather, nothing but tea at my disposal. All was calm on the western front.

For the hell of it I decided to look up old versions of windows tonight on youtube, because anything before 3.11 I never saw when I was a kid. Either way I came upon this interesting video (which is only interesting if you’re as nerdy as I am).

They managed to upgrade from Windows 1.0 to Windows 7 while still keeping quite a bit of the legacy items from 1.0. I was also impressed at how it kept the custom color settings from 2.0 up until the XP upgrade.

Overdue Open Tech Thread

So I’ve kinda been slacking off with my blogging because 1: Last night when I was in the mood I was drinking and got distracted, 2: Portal 2, 3: I had nothing to post about.

But today I do! I’ve been playing with my new Logitech G500 gaming mouse.

I’ve been playing with it a bit. Feels very comfortable. It has weights you can add to it but so far the mouse feels fine without the weights. I’m thinking of playing with the profiles later (make it so I can spawn supertanks with the press of a button.

The scrolling on the G500 is nice. You can go between smooth and classic “click in place” for web surfing. All in all I’ve been enjoying it.

On one final note, I completely topped out the RAM in my laptop. Now my portable gaming machine is fully maxed out.

Final Day Of Vacation

It’s been a nice rest. But like many good things they need to come to an end. I may not have gone anywhere special, but at least I got to kick back and enjoy myself. Last night I went out with my mother to the local sushi place for some miso soup, sushi rolls and miso soup. The choyo (plum wine) was good too.

My laptop is ready for work! I ran some tests tonight and decided to overclock it. I crashed that twice beforehand but only due to heating (and possibly lack of RAM, still waiting for that in the mail) but overall performed perfectly. Since it has dual NVidia’s in it though I had to do the directX91 cvar so that it wouldn’t glitch the fuck out. CS:GO, the L4D’s and Serious Sam functioned perfectly though.

Early Morning Open Thread

It seems I spent quite a bit of the early morning banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why a mdl wouldn’t compile properly after trying to add extra HL2 animations to it. Then out of boredom I check out garrysmod.org and find one with the animations I was trying to add…
