Yesterday was a good day.

Woke up yesterday to an auction for a laptop, unfortunately I lost… Decided to shake it off and wander into town to do some errands. It was nice n’ sunny at least. Finally scheduled a hair appointment at a new place, hopefully it goes well next week. Also made a deposit then went out for some sushi that I owed myself. It was called The Samurai and it had cucumber, some tempura prawns and it was topped with crab and a spicy teriyaki sriracha sauce.

Then I came home and backed off the rest of my files so I could prepare for the new motherboard. So far it’s been pretty smooth, other than the front USB ports are acting strangely. I’m hoping it’s some driver issue. I still have a bunch to install. I’ve only covered the Win 7 install, some drivers and other refinements. I still have plenty of programs and organization to take care of, then I can install Fedora 21 and get that setup. I’ll probably be distracted for awhile. Not only with that, but with an auction I actually won tonight. 😛 I’m going to be the proud owner of an ROG G750JS-TS71. I also ordered a Samsung 256 GB SSD, and hopefully I can find a regular 2 TB drive later on for the 2nd drive bay. In the meantime I’ll rough it on the 1 TB.

So all in all I had a very relaxing day off, probably one of the better ones I’ve had lately. Oh, and I saw the new chatroom a certain someone made in Mumble… All I have to say was that I got more done on my mask today. One more coating or two and I can add some straps for my face.

I’m gonna go try to not dream about things relating to that set of stuffs.

Tea Blogging: Republic of Tea’s Cinnamon Plum

Despite summer being here you wouldn’t tell with the latest weather. It’s been cool and muggy the last few days in the evenings and well insulated during the day due to the fog. So in the evenings I’ve been drinking some Cinnamon Plum tea. Which has the tastes you would expect from colder times of the year.

It has a very comforting flavor. It tastes great straight or with a bit of honey. It’s kind of lying to you though. There aren’t any prunes in the tea, but instead it uses sloeberries as one of the ingredients. I guess it would be more awkward to call it Cinnamon Sloeberry. :v It doesn’t change how I feel about it however. The berries pair well with the spiciness and black tea to make a rejuvenating cup that’ll perk you up and take the chill out of the bones.

This one will be around for awhile. I get distracted by a few other flavors.

I live another year.

Had a nice quiet birthday. I got a new game called Woolfe: The Red Riding Hood Diaries, it’s a beautiful game that has the feel of American McGee’s Alice. You’re a white haired little red riding hood looking for revenge. The game is a stealth hack n slash. While I was streaming it for my friends we all identified various traits that could be spotted from other games. Such as a bunch of rats that could kill you, like in Dishonored. A sneaking element that you would find in most stealth games (Metal Gear) and red riding hood’s color scheme was very Devil May Cry-ish. I’ll definitely have to get back to playing it again soon. I’ve been doing quite a bit of streaming lately of other games as well. Even unintentionally keeping someone up with my streaming shenanigans. :v

I also got a nice addition to my tea collection.

Huckleberry

I also had some chocolate huckleberry bonbons. We’re still planning on going out to dinner for my birthday for a few drinks but have had to hold off as my card expired… I tried to get it renewed yesterday but the DMV was getting remodeled. Oh well, there’s always next week. 😛

Honey and Sake

So tonight I found out that boiling sake and honey together is really really good. I’ve come down with a cold recently, and I’ve been taking allergy medicine plus cough drops/syrup to help keep things together. But I wanted to go an extra mile and found a nice remedy that’s got me feeling good and tastes pretty nice. Especially since it’s just two ingredients.

Just add 1 tbsp of honey to 6 oz of sake and warm it up and serve. I might try adding some lemon and ginger to another batch tomorrow.

Open Thread

I was going to work on some footage, but figured since I only had one day with not much to do I’d just troll teh interwebz and chill with friends. I’ve been playing Drunken Robot Pornography which is super addicting. Actually all the indie games I got lately have been addicting now that I think about it. 😛

Made my Hungarian dishes with much success. The tomato and sausage stew turned out nicely, and the cherry dessert soup was nice as well. Basically it’s tart cherries in a light homemade syrup (sugar, water, cinnamon and arrowroot) mixed with some wine and cream and served chilled. Soooo good.

I still have some of my rice dish left, so I’ll bring that to work today with some salad. I made some honey sriracha dressing to top it, plus some green pepper and pineapple to top the leaves. And for my daily tea I have green tea with spring cherry blossoms. I’d say I’m good to go. 😀

The foods that keep me going

I got lucky. Someone switched a day off with me due to some plans they have. So I won’t have to work 10 9 hour work days straight! My days are split but at least I get a short break. I’ve done a good job bringing my lunches regularly and not forgetting to make anything. For most of the week I brought salads and some Mexican rice. For my “Friday” I’m bringing a nice big slice of pizza. Because FPS and pizza go hand in hand. Just ask anyone who has ever been to a LAN party.

I’m thinking for next week I’ll make a Hungarian dish. I’ve been reading one of my European cookbooks to try and come up with something different. One of the things I found was a recipe that mainly consisted of a homemade tomato sauced kind of stew with sausage and seasoned with sweet Hungarian paprika, then topped with an egg. There’s also a recipe for a cold cherry soup (which is more of a wine punch) that I’ll make during my off time. I still have some leftover rice though, so maybe I’ll make some soup with it and some vegetables I have lying around.

Oh, and as if I haven’t talked about food enough I tried some watermelon hibiscus tea tonight. I thought it was delicious. Not enough to order online but as a free sample I found it to be quite refreshing. My tea for bed tonight consists of green tea and delicious dried cherries. I really like this and the green tea blueberry one. Hopefully my refill for it will arrive soon. I’m already running low. 😛

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2 + Food blog

Not much to report. Busy as hell but nothing horrible.

Now onto what I ate/drank today:

Strawberry Lemonade

Lunch: Polish sausage on a sesame hotdog bun with honey mustard and 2 Lemonade Iced Teas (salty hotdog is salty)

Dessert: Two reeses peanutbutter cups

Dinner: Two mini burgers. One with honey mustard and sriracha, the other with jalapeno mustard and ketchup. All had onions, cheddar and homemade sweet pickles. Oh,and two glasses of milk. Then two of lavender tea and a pot of pomegranate cider black tea… I like my tea.

I’m gonna be pissin’ like a race horse.

Gypsy Rose

One of my findings awhile back was some good ol Gypsy Rose. I love the flavor of it, but it does leave me feeling thirsty for more.

I do love gypsy tea though. I have many tins of it in different kinds. It has a nice combination of aromatherapy and flavoring. Definitely a bit much for one mug. Best to make it in an entire pot (which I do with all my tea). Many people know that I’m a POT addict.
