Sunday Night Open Thread

Spent some time refining a bit of animation tonight while watching Yutram Stream Control to my second monitor. I’ve slowed down a bit on video production. I don’t want to get too into it since I do have plans to upgrade the system. I still need to order some NVMe drives, but I’m waiting to see if the prices go any lower before Cyber Monday. If not I’ll swoop in and make my purchase.

Then at the end of the night I decided to wander around for a bit in Yakuza Kiwami 2. Actually completed a couple of quests despite forgetting half of what I needed to accomplish. Too many games, etc, etc.

Evening Open Thread

Waking up is always difficult during the autumn/winter months. The rain and darkness make for a want to hibernate. I had to fight myself to get out of bed to get ready for another day of work. I don’t care much for the later shifts, but at least it does give me some extra time to eat a bit of breakfast. Also been preparing for an upgrade to my desktop build. Gonna swap out the motherboard and processor and RAM. I’ll be upgrading to the Ryzen 9 9900X. The GPU is currently a 6800XT, which I’m still fine with. I do need to replace a few hard drives, some of them are showing signs of wear and tear after several years of film abuse.  The new motherboard will be able to hold 3 NVMe drives – I’m thinking about getting a few 4 TB drives to really ramp up my storage. The more the merrier, especially since I have quite a few games that play nicer on faster drives. Plus SSD drives are great for rendering 4K footage on. My older 2 TB spinners take an eternity and a half to properly export 4K footage. I’ll probably restructure my files and programs once I have everything setup.

Either way I’m looking forward to it! It’ll be one of my winter projects.

Making a List of Lists

Still feeling a bit under the weather. Don’t have much energy to work on anything, but I’ve been doing some small stuff like making various lists. To Do Lists, Shopping/Christmas Gift Lists, and a less boring end of the year games I’ve finished list! It’s currently sitting at twelve if I count a couple of mods found through Steam, not bad! Maybe I can get another one or two in the bag before the end of the year? I am pretty close to finishing Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, DOOM Eternal and a couple of others… Miiiight still have some time to squeeze a game or two out. We shall see.

We Conquered Quake!

Thanks to our collaborative efforts we successfully beat Quake together! It’s the first time for the both of us. I’ll still have to complete the game alone to get achievements, but it was great to finally experience co-op for Quake! Next time we play we’ll have the expansions to tackle, and maybe even some addons. I’ll have to see how possible it is to play custom maps together. We’ll probably need vkQuake to pull it off properly.

I’ve had Quake so much on the brain today that I added the maps to SFM. Unfortunately they didn’t have proper HDR lighting, which SFM needs for it to load properly. So I ended up learning how to decompile Valve maps, and then learning how to recompile them with HDR. It’s actually easier than it sounds. Next time I find a map that I want to use I won’t have the lack of HDR to stop me!

Conjuring SFM To Do My Evil Bidding… Of Evil

I won’t have much in the way of YouTube content this month. Instead I’m siphoning my creative time towards some spooky scenes for a projector we’ll have outside. It’ll only be a couple minutes on loop of some spooky scenery, but far better than your trad Halloween projector. I’ll have it all compiled before the end of the month.

Video Content Update

Video production is going well. So far I have two Resonite videos compiled and ready to release. The Resonite videos won’t have any additional animation to go with them, unfortunately. As much as I’d like to add something extra I can’t find the reason. As it stands though I think they’ll be fine enough on their own. When I have more energy tomorrow I’ll start working on the video thumbnail(s)

Until then I’ve been diagnosed with sleep.

New Video(s) In The Works!

I’ve got enough footage from Resonite that I’ve started sifting through the couple hundred gigs I’ve accumulated. I still have to figure out how I want to divide it up, but I have plenty for at least one video. I’ll go over it again with fresh eyes tomorrow to figure out how I want to end the video, and what additions I need to add to it… if any. So far I’m not sure if I need to add anything additional.

Each night I’ve been diving into public folders where avatars, props, and all kinds of tools are kept. This evening I scored on some Omega Mart Products! Methinks I’ll be doing some grocery shopping for my personal home. 😀

During my excursion into public folders of swag I also stumbled upon some drinkable Gatorade bottles. Another item I’ll probably stock up on… if I remember which folder I grabbed it from. I was filming at the time, so if I forget I’ll probably be reminded when I finally get around to processing the footage. 😛

Sunday Evening Open Thread: End Of An Era

It’s hard to believe… after all these years I’ve FINALLY made it through all of my Skyrim footage! Today I said farewell to the last of the video footage for Skyrim, truly the end of its 2K res era. I still have some footage from other games to trudge through, but by and large I’m pretty much ready to start more recordings. It might be time to contemplate what would be good to stream, other than Skyrim. 😛

I would consider Horizon Zero Dawn, but even streaming to another system seems to be a bit demanding, even on my setup. It seems to perform fine until I enter areas with a bunch of foliage. Oh well, more excuses to experiment!
