The First Bookless Public Library… In Texas!

The library of the future. Based in the nads of the United States.

It sounds like an oxymoron, but come the fall of 2013, San Antonio’s Bexar County is going to be home to the BiblioTech, the country’s first book-less public library. Of course, there will be books — just e-books, not physical books.

I get it. So THAT’S what the book burnings were for. Making room for e-books. 😀

Queen of dumb blondes robs bank then youtubes about it.

Remember awhile back when I blogged about the Wal Mart employees filming their quality handling of iPads? Well, just when I start to lose faith in humanity another story and video comes along, and I lose even more faith in humanity. 🙄

Some dumbassed blond chick not only robbed a bank and stole a car, but decided to vlog about it!

The suspect pointed what appeared to be a gun and handed tellers a note that said “You are being robbed! NO ALARMS OR LOCKS OR PHONES or INK BAGS! I have a loaded gun. You have 2 minutes,” deputies told NTV.

It was unclear how Sabata intends to plead. The name of her attorney was not immediately known.

When looking up the definition of dumb blond, you need not look further than for the one named Hannah Sabata.

Apple has patented “page turning”. All libraries will be sued.

First the rounded corners get claimed by apple, then this happens:

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office this week granted a rather noteworthy design patent for the digital equivalent of the page turn (PDF), that time-honored tradition of flipping pages while looking through a book, a magazine, or other stack of bound paper.

If they keep it up I might have to get in on this patent whoring trend. I’ll patent circles. That way I’ll physically own earth and the other planets (as well as the stars).

McAfee kills more than just viruses.

Yes, THAT McAfee, the creator of McAfee Antivirus. Apparently he’s on the run.

Antivirus pioneer John McAfee is on the run from murder charges, Belize police say. According to Marco Vidal, head of the national police force’s Gang Suppression Unit, McAfee is a prime suspect in the murder of American expatriate Gregory Faull, who was gunned down Saturday night at his home in San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye.

And if that wasn’t enough, further into the article it gets downright weird. He’s been taking some substance called MDPV:

MDPV, which was recently banned in the US but remains legal in Belize, belongs to a class of drugs called cathinones, a natural source of which is the East African plant khat. Users report that it is a powerfully mind-altering substance. In the comments section to my last Gizmodo piece, reader fiveseven15 writes: “mdpv is serious shit. would explain his paranoia and erraticness. i’ve been thru that. i played with mdpv for about two weeks, then started seeing shadow people in the corner of my eye, and what amphetamine heads call ‘tree-cops’… its essentially really, REALLY f-ed up meth.”

You take it by shoving it up your ass. :O McAfee, not your antidrug!

Valve making a new game engine perhaps?

Taken from here.

Gabe Newell: We’ve been working on Valve’s new engine stuff for a while, we’re probably just [incomprehensible, subtitled as: “waiting for a game to roll it out with”]

Fan: Is it going to be more than just an extension to Source? Is it an entirely new engine?

Gabe Newell: Yeah!

Hmmmmmm… Episode 3 anyone? 😛
