Friday Evening Open Thread

My bro and I joined forces and made dinner together tonight! I bought a ribeye and chopped it up. We mixed in some snowpeas, shrooms, and homegrown carrots with a soy miso sauce and soba noodles with just a dusting of green onion. Sadly I didn’t take a picture, but I can confirm that it hit the spot. We served it with some blueberry sencha green tea. It slapped.

I’m happy that tomorrow’s my Friday! It’s been a busy four day work week. I haven’t even been able to touch my Steam Deck, and I still have to finish up that script! I should be able to finish that up after work… then maybe goof off in some form of game universe! 😀

Perhaps one with a certain Bandicoot…

Come To My Window

I got a late start in yesterday with one of the videos I plan to release further down the pipeline. I’ve also been mentally going over some of the things I might have to do in order to keep YouTube off of my arse. In case you haven’t heard YouTube is changing their rules due to COPPA and YouTube’s inability to keep their shit together. Channel creators now have to declare their channels as for kids or not for kids (but neither of the 4Kids), or do it on a video by video basis. I’ve pretty much marked my channel as a “not kids” channel; but in future videos I might start including warning intros to make it clear that my videos don’t target kids in any way whatsoever. One must be of a mature age before they can view my melon laden content.

I did a little Skyrim today, but mainly focused on a video project for the most part. It’s one I had an idea for awhile back while I was still sick. I wanted to get my voice back into practice again by imitating any character someone suggested. Of course there’s quite a few character suggestions that I’ll have to follow up with, which will require more than one video being made… no problem I hope?

wtf is this shit
Can you figure out what’s going on? If you can please tell me! I’d like to know.

Today I spent most of the day selecting what footage would go where, syncing audio in various clips and did a couple voice lines. I’m almost done with it, but not sure when I’ll be able to pick up on it again. It’ll be soon, but I’m not sure how soon. My work schedule has been going on the fritz lately, all over the place. Perhaps sometime during my vacation?

Sunday Night Open Thread

I spent today working on my next review. I’m almost done with it, I just need a few more media related things. I have a few video projects in the pipeline, so as long as things go according to my new plans then SNews won’t be too blank from lack of publishing.

I’ll probably plug at it a bit more before I hit the rack for tonight. All early workdays this week.

As an aside I watched the latest Bleach last night. Oh god… That was the gayest most girly fight scene I’ve ever seen ever in the history of ever. I think the female characters on that show could fight manlier, including Orihime! Today I watched some of the Japanese dub of it and it’s still funny, but not as funny as what the American voice actors did. Somehow they made it even more gay.

I’ve been pondering.

Papa Smurf and I have come to the conclusion that Fedora 15 sucks major bollox. So the forum will be down for  awhile longer until we go back to Fedora 14 and reinstall the proper packages so that the forum will actually function.

Meanwhile regarding the srcds error for L4D2, I’ve asked around and haven’t gotten any help or suggestions (other than from a friend on steam). But it didn’t really help my case unfortunately. I hate doing this but it looks like I may have to upgrade to a newer server. I already have one in mind, hopefully moving to one that supports SSE3 instruction sets would fix the problem. I still don’t want to do this though because as it is the server is more than capable (in fact I’d go as far to say that it’s overkill). It’s an HP Rackmount server. Seems ridiculous to stop supporting it. It’s also ridiculous that there aren’t more people who are in the same boat as me.

How can this not be supported?

As an aside and a brighter note, PS and I sat down for a L4D1 match tonight. There will be a review in the future. I also have a L4D2 one planned. But I won’t go about saying how either of these reviews will be planned.

Saturday Night Open Thread

The first thing I did today when I came home was read the internet to see if everyone was behaving. Then I plopped on the bed and passed out. On a promising note, it looks like I’ll be re-entering swing shift this Friday. So you’ll see me once on Tuesday evening and then on thurs and fri.

I’ve been reading at the thinking with portals website. I’m thinking of reviewing Portal/Portal 2 maps/campaigns sometime in the near future. Would be a nice change of scenery and since I am reviewing things in core form it would make sense anyway. I’m also using this as an excuse to not review “The Woods 2”.

Looks like I got to do neither

Came home only to discover that after the latest TF2 server update the servers will do a mega crash. For some reason the latest TF2/HL2DM update randomly kills the network card on the server. I’m not sure why it is doing this but I know it didn’t before the update.

Right now I’m only leaving the L4D1 server up since I know that had no updates. If the network card hasn’t been killed by the time I wake up later I’ll do some TF2 testing.

What a great way to start my 3 day weekend…

Getting the best use out of my system

I have 2 more episodes of “You Can’t Do That On XBox!” in the pipeline. Feel free to subscribe to SNews if you want to see them (or my youtube channel).

Was rendering a newer intro for the new episodes last night and I decided to sleep while it rendered. Sadly it only got 45 minutes into the project before it croaked. Apparently it didn’t like having been working and playing for 48 hours… I’m currently rendering the scene after a restart and all seems well.

Update

It failed again. I’m now trying to export it via the stand alone encoder.
