More evil website plotting.

After years of slacking on updating the forum I finally did it and didn’t break anything! Thanks to that the templates form properly. Now I can focus on addons, like a possible RSS grabber to syndicate this blog and SNews, and probably a different captcha system to protect the site from bots. Or any other random things I can find for shits and giggles.

Yay moar nerd mumbo jumbo.

Took care of HL2DM. Not only are the maps synced up with the client/webserver, I also installed metamod/sourcemod and added quakemod. It isn’t much but we’ll see how it goes. The HL2DM server is pretty quiet anyway.

TF2 server has been running with a good steady pace of traffic though. Files seem to be downloading at a quick pace so that’s good. I even renewed my account with bluehost tonight. Now I won’t have to worry about paying for another year. I guess the next task will be to upgrade phpBB3. That’ll be at my end though, not through bluehost.

Open Thread

One of the semi slack things I did today was play with the SNews website a bit. Feel free to give it a look http://www.guildofslackers.com/snews/

Changed the logo a bit and added some widgets. Subscription via RSS and email is back up! Plus the latest episode of You Can’t Do That On XBox is online. Still looking for more participants over there. So if you have time to write or make anything or think you can contribute in some way, hit me up on here, the forums, or steam.

Stuff fixed itself!

Thanks to a WordPress update, this template we are using has been fixed (custom widgets had to be disabled for a time). That said, subscribing is now back up (You can subscribe via RSS or email. Don’t worry we don’t bite) and now we have a list of author avatars. That means it’s time for our other authors and contributors to get off their arses and post! For fucks sake this doesn’t need to be my 2nd blog.

If anyone has a suggestion for what I can add to the site feel free to let me know.

Evening Open Thread

We will be sticking with Fedora 15. We found a desktop setup that works for us. Fucking stupid that the default ones are all 3D based…

Regarding the forums, Papa Smurf is still plugging away at PHP. It turns out it was trying to talk to a non existing file path…

Anyway, bedtime for bonzo. Will be on tomorrow afternoon.

Update

Forum is back up. Now leave me alone.

I’ve been pondering.

Papa Smurf and I have come to the conclusion that Fedora 15 sucks major bollox. So the forum will be down for  awhile longer until we go back to Fedora 14 and reinstall the proper packages so that the forum will actually function.

Meanwhile regarding the srcds error for L4D2, I’ve asked around and haven’t gotten any help or suggestions (other than from a friend on steam). But it didn’t really help my case unfortunately. I hate doing this but it looks like I may have to upgrade to a newer server. I already have one in mind, hopefully moving to one that supports SSE3 instruction sets would fix the problem. I still don’t want to do this though because as it is the server is more than capable (in fact I’d go as far to say that it’s overkill). It’s an HP Rackmount server. Seems ridiculous to stop supporting it. It’s also ridiculous that there aren’t more people who are in the same boat as me.

How can this not be supported?

As an aside and a brighter note, PS and I sat down for a L4D1 match tonight. There will be a review in the future. I also have a L4D2 one planned. But I won’t go about saying how either of these reviews will be planned.
