Early Morning Open Thread Of Openess

Encountered one of the guys who is really interested in getting together with me. He tried to get my facebook information so that he could keep in contact and was rather disappointed when I revealed that I don’t do social media. He couldn’t believe a “tech savvy” person would have no interest in facebook because y’know… I guess you have to be smart to use facebook, right? That’s why it’s common for facebook users to friend their bosses or employees and post stupid shit that ends up getting them fired. Yeah, smart people.

Then he tried to get my email address, which I don’t give out either. A week ago he tried to get me to enter my phone number into his cellphone… Him (and his father who he pals around with) are new to town, and don’t really have anything to do around here because it’s a small town. So they hang out in the store everyday and follow employees around (including me), sometimes making multiple trips. Whenever I have a day off I don’t go shopping or anything. I go for walks, go to an occasional party with friends or just keep to myself. He keeps asking me where I’ve been during my days off as if I’ve been avoiding him, then passes it off as a joke and tells me not to get flustered…

He seems like a nice kid, but as I’ve said before I don’t really hang out with customers. Hell I rarely have time to hang out with my friends who happen to be employees. Plus I’m too busy coming up with my own stuff to do. Like today I chatted with my international buddies, tidied up a bit, drank tea and tested out my new costume pieces. So far I’m happy with the results! I also got my paints in the mail today so next time I’m ready I’ll be able to do some painting on my mask. So far for the costume I have:

A mask (that needs to be painted and strapped)
A bandana
A hooded cape
A wig

When I’m done with this I’m gonna freak out soooo many people at Halloween time. I know at least two or three people that’ll get the joke. Even if people don’t get it (since it involves the gaming universe in a way) it’ll still be fun to dress up as something original.

The weirdos have been out in full force. I was working tonight and we had a drunkard wander in looking for a solar charger, and getting pissy when we said we didn’t carry any. And yesterday I had an old man tell me that I’m an angel in disguise… okay? Not sure what he meant by that. If he saw my mad skyrim skillz he’d see I’ve become the angel of death… who happens to kill things that are already dead.

Open Thread

I didn’t get much sleep this morning, although on the bright side I did fall asleep quickly when I went to bed instead of falling asleep just a few hours before waking up. I’m less groggy that way.

I had a very busy morning/afternoon. Sold lots of streaming devices, some mp3 players a couple phones and Rokus. Also had a few people wanting me to go out with them. Wanting me to go out for coffee, or wondering what my days off are… Too bad I hate coffee and never know when my days off are. Oh, and too bad I don’t really want to date customers or employees. Which is pretty much everyone in town. People think I’m insane for keeping those as my principals, but I like playing it safe. In this day and age it just takes one thing to mess things up and you could lose your job, not to mention make me look unprofessional. I’ve seen guys n girls come around while people are working and sometimes you can tell it can be very distracting.

Besides. It would take at least an army to put up with me. :v In some ways being antisocial can be a good public service.

So, about my weekend… Part 2

I got a call from my old section today. They’re down two people due to sick calls, and have been getting called to go down and check like crazy. So it looks like I’ll be making some overtime money today… I’m happy and kinda bummed at the same time since I did make some plans to just go out and enjoy myself. But I still have tomorrow off, and my next days off are actually much closer. Although that could change too…

The way the store is being run is ridiculous now. We’re down 56 people and can’t hire anyone new because it’s handled at the corporate level, and they can only see that we need 3 positions filled. Our store director hasn’t bothered to correct the information. No one from the other stores are wanting to apply, and the remaining people that we do have are being copious amounts of overtime. I seriously don’t get it. If they hired more people there would be less overtime, and the company would actually save money.

Either way I’ve made it clear that I’ll only help other departments if I get overtime. I’ll get paid more and it’ll hit them where it hurts, their bonus checks.

So, about my weekend.

I’m writing this since I probably won’t be making it on tonight to BS and play. The first part of my weekend has been put on hold since I have to go to work early tomorrow to cover for someone. My boss is making an effort to make sure I get a day off closer to my other one, but if he fails I get overtime… so it’s win-win really. I’ve been really enjoying my new job. The pay and hours are about the same which sucks, but the job itself has been pretty cool, and the team that I work with is a lot of fun. I work around a lot of technology, and I’ve been selling lots of electronics (mainly consoles, TV’s, streaming devices etc) and I already know how most of it works. Plus I can provide insight on certain things if customers aren’t sure about something. Although I’ve had to endure some very interesting people during my adventures thus far. Like one woman who tried to convince me that 500GB drive 1 TB are the same amount of drive space… or another one that wanted to know if the Windoze phone she was interested in had Android on it. Then I get guys from time to time that don’t know how to pronounce HDMI. I hear some really interesting ones, like HDIM, H1DR etc etc.

So, tonight will be a bit of a blog night. Since I don’t really have time for much else. 😛

Onto a new journey

Well, it’s official. I’ve switched jobs and am now working in the electronics section of our store. That should work for until I find something better. I’m well liked over there and already know most of the stuff we sell, in fact I’ve sold quite a bit of stock (especially Roku devices and games). So hopefully I might finally get some consistency (well, as much as you can get in that line of work). It’s also fun talking shop with this team too.

I think I’ll celebrate tomorrow by buying a watermelon after work.

I’m going to be everywhere at the exact same time

I have some drastic schedule changes coming up, so I may or may not be around much or at the usual times I’m known for. My sleep patterns are going to be all kinds of confusing next week. I predict there will be much consumption of caffeine and electrolytes… Hopefully I don’t go too insane.

I’m guessing that I might be online around the time I usually wake up. 😛 Assuming I don’t pass out early or get distracted by other real life tasks. Either way I’ll probably post more just so I can find some way to shoot my mouth off.

Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

Finally… I’ll work later today and have a good two days off to rest. Last Saturday really kicked everyone in the arse, Sunday I came home from work and pretty much passed out in bed and went “screw it I’ll eat later”, and yesterday I started to show signs of feeling better. It’s amazing what 12 hours of sleep will do… In fact I spent most of tonight in bed playing some sidescrollers. It feels nice to do that.

In fact for my weekend I don’t think I’ll do anything but relax. I’ve been pretty high strung as of late. And with the latest cold snap that’s rolled in I have a feeling I’ll be hibernating a bit with the computer on, listening to people influence my sleeping brain. :v

PS: THis post was written from bed, because I can.

Lilies… my only weakness.

I only had one day off this week, but the bright side is I got overtime pay to look forward to. 😀 They offered me more overtime for next week but I ended up declining since I’ve been sick. I’m not sure if it’s a bug going around, or the Easter lilies we’ve been selling. They’re so potent that they dry out my throat, make my nose water and burn my eyes. We’ve had people complain about them causing headaches too. In fact it becomes difficult for me to speak, not to mention my lungs start to burn. And when you’re in this type of environment for as much as 9 hours it kinda gets to you after awhile… I’ll have to talk to them tomorrow if this continues, although my hopes aren’t too high as other people have complained in the past.

The solution? Get a doctors note… What a waste of time and resources. It wouldn’t take much effort to move these damn things outside to a ventilated area, but noooo you have to take time out of your life and a doctors life to get some fucking note for why you can’t work…

Standing back and watching it all burn

My mind has been lost in a lot of thought lately, having to depend on small distractions to at least keep myself at least half sane. I don’t want to go into full detail about it but I might be changing jobs soon within the company. My mother is getting a promotion and we can’t be in the same section according to the rules. Unfortunately the areas that I was interested in either don’t have a place for me, or just want to drag their ass hiring anymore people.

So I have to make a decision to go back to ordering bread and coffee and learn how to be a cashier, or be a cashier. Considering the latter pays more I may end up going that route. Although the former has more hours, but then I would be ordering, being called to cashier nonstop (like everyone else in the store) and whatever other responsibility they want to add to the job for less than a cashier… I might as well be getting paid to do my actual job.

It’s still a suck deal either way. I don’t like standing in one spot for hours on end, but maybe I can hold out until I can find work elsewhere. Which has still been pretty impossible. Although a new place has opened it’s doors. I plan to walk in there on my next day off and apply.

I love this town, but when it comes to finding work it absolutely sucks because there is hardly anything.
